Seems to be online courtesy of EMI but only if you're in the UK :
Moderator intervention: As far as I am aware, IB are asking other forums not to spread this link yet. EMI jumped the gun a bit. I've snipped it out for now but I fear it is becoming a losing battle.
Am loving it, very nicely done.
Sorry Mods,
Had no idea they were trying to keep it quiet.....sorry for any trouble caused.
Doh!!... Missed it again :(
No worries...and no trouble caused. :D
It's a little bit silly really - like trying to plug all the holes in a colander with your fingers but it's their cat and their bag.
As others have said, it's not too hard to find really. :)
Quote from: "Pedro"As others have said, it's not too hard to find really. :)
Unless you're Brom, that is :D
If I managed to find it ... it really cant be that hard to find.
Why (Jem) did you balance a keyboard on your shoulder ... had you learned the song parrot fashion ? :P

It's not easy being me you know. ;)
Ok I've now been given the go ahead to post the link again and I'll include what the It Bites page on facebook posted not so long ago:
Let's get Prog into the Charts! 'Calling All the Heroes' will be available as a video for £1.89, single for£0.99 (possibly £0.79 - TBC). It Bites would really love everyone to buy this between Sunday Feb 28th to Saturday March 6th as sales equate to chart positioning. Obviously, the higher the chart position, the mor...e recognition the cause gets. Please help!
Moderator intervention again (sorry): IB HQ have asked me to pull it again.

yeah. bummer. seem to be shooting themselves in the foot, don't you think?
Is that the estimated clean up costs of The Cube?

It does look like Jem's keyboard storage shelves might have given way. ;)
The synth on Jem's shoulder should be called Polly.......
I've snipped the link again. Sorry if this is annoying.
What's with all the to-ing and fro-ing with the link? It's already gone round everyone on Facebook who likes prog!
*resists urge to comment on merits of the actual re-recording and accompanying video versus their respective originals, and focuses instead on the worthy cause*
This video is a prog Hokey-Cokey of sorts. :D
While it seems that the CATH is really out of the bag already, I can understand them not wanting people to see the video and immediately buy the single "too soon", since a concentrated selling after Sunday might chart it the following week.
Funny old game....
Hope it gets to #1!

Let's get Prog into the Charts!
'Calling All the Heroes' will be available through i-tunes from Sunday Feb28th
video - £1.89
single - £0.99
It Bites would really love everyone to buy this charity download between Sunday Feb28th to Saturday March6th as sales equate to chart positioning.
The new version of Calling All The Heroes features It Bites with John Wetton and Geoff Downes from (Asia, Yes, Roxy Music, Buggles and King Crimson), Marillion, Jason Perry (A), Dick Nolan, and Jem Godfrey all taking part in the project.
Original frontman Francis Dunnery sings the opening line to the new recording, 26years after he sang it the first time around!
B xx :D
howdy, Bat!!
will there be an American release?
I'm sorry to put a dampener on things but this has been just so badly managed. I was so happy to FINALLY see the video and hear the song but now it seems that they don't want anybpdy to see it until they're ready. Its a bloody charity single ffs, why wasn't it released the minute it was finished?! The opportunity to raise so so much money has withered as more and more and more other worthy causes have held their hat out and not only that but there was a big opportunity to raise a lot of money had it been released the minute it was finished.
I will certainly buy it and I obviously really really hope that it does very very well but a lot of this just makes me feel that the window for maximum effect has passed, or certainly very nearly has. Its not a top ten single and frankly its a bit annoying that they have waited to chart it when the money raised could have been doing a lot of good already by now.
Sorry you feel that way.
You make some valid points about the timing, particularly with reference to the Cumbrian situation which, like so many "lesser" issues, soon fades from the public's memory. I don't know the real reasons for the delay.
I don't agree that it can't chart. If enough people buy it, it will.
An uncoordinated release process, with most people having heard it already via YouTube is certainly not the way to make a big impression or trigger impulse buys. EMI messed up and posted the video too soon.
I'll still be buying it a few times.
The delays were not of the bands making, having talked in person to most of the band after their gigs in Carlisle recently I know the delays are as frustrating to them as it is to you. They would have loved to have it released sooner but unfortunatley most of the delay stemmed from getting the single on itunes which in this day an age of downloads is essential if you really want to make a sales impact and obviously with a charity single you want to sell as many as possible. People have made comparisons to the single released for Haiti but when you have the weight of Simon Cowell and a major record label behind you there is no comparison, It Bites unfortunatley do not have that kind of backing so the delays were unavoidable.
I've got to agree with the lost opportunity feeling, especially as this is months after the event.
EMI ... what a bunch of f'ing dicks. Release the video, then cant get the single onto itunes ? If EMI cant get a song on itunes who can ? Something not right there.
Seems like a load of muppetry going on :(
EMI is inept, even in my non-rock line of musical work. There's a classical CD by a singer coming out next month and I was consultant for the project. EMI's press release does the usual bullshit hype about the product, which one expects, but the truly amazing thing is that they talk only about arias which are not actually on the disc, and were never going to be.
A few years ago they released (on Virgin Classics, which EMI owns) a CD of Mozart's Mass in C Minor and called in "Mass in C", thinking that the word "minor" wasn't very important. The muppets... (though that's unfair on Muppets, really - they're quite creative and entertaining).
So to learn that EMI has cocked up the It Bites project ain't exactly shocking.
When EMI eventually goes belly-up for good (do Frosties know that it's trying to flog Abbey Road because it needs the cash?), one can't help but think that the once-great label didn't help itself by being so phenomenally useless at running their artistic affairs.
Anyway, I'll be buying CATH on Sunday night all the same!
Cheers,
David
Just bought the single and the video, both from iTunes. They better not ask me to give them back and download them again at a more specific time. ;)
Just to say I certainly wasn't having a go at the band; the fact is that everything seems to have been done very quickly until it came to the release which has taken months. I know its a horrible horrible thing to say but we're in the horrible world of charidy where everyone has to compete to be worse off than everybody else and the terrible events in Chile will now surely overshadow this.
Such a shame!
Have purchased the single and video from itunes and got the single from amazon as well
Parting with money is my least favourite thing in the world but if I can part with a few pennies for this so can everyone else. ;)
You can get it at Amazon (//http://www.amazon.co.uk/Calling-All-The-Heroes/dp/B00391ZP7A/ref=sr_shvl_album_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1267362952&sr=301-3) or iTunes (//http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/calling-all-heroes-feat-marillion/id357529489)
Will purchase tomorrow .. something to look forward to at work on a Monday :D
still looking for some way to help from the States... :(

there are separate UK iTunes and US stores (what's up with that?) and so far I haven't found it in the US store.
Tried amazon.co.uk ?
Quote from: "mark_kennedy"Tried amazon.co.uk ?
I know it's there, but it won't accept my Amazon log-in. I suppose I could set up a whole new account at the UK Amazon...
Part one of the plan worked - there's no sign of this in the Top 100 at the moment..........

and I've been bugging them relentlessly (well, maybe not relentlessly, but a lot) to make it available in the States because we would help, too, but to no avail. :(
