At last, after a 3 year wait, comes the announcement that Tinyfish are launching their new album "The Big Red Spark" (not herring as some have suggested) at the
Luminiere in Kilburn, London, England, The World on
Friday 10th September
with Dec Burke and his gorgeous band as guests.
Be there, there might be cake!

It's going to be good! And I'll be there!
stop misleading people about cake Nellie!

I'm not! I said I would make a cake. Simon said it would be chocolate (doesn't I have to do it). Pedro said it would make a noise. I will not be making a noisy chocolate cake.

You could spread some melted Cadbury's Whisper bars on top maybe?
what's a melted whisper sound like? I'm not sure I want to speculate.....
it's a lot like a Careless Whisper, but sloppier.
I'll be there, of course. Can't bloody wait! :D

Not even a small one? A little chocolate noisette?

Sweet. Quality. :)
Who else is going, then?! I don't know about you, but The Big Red Spark is my most anticipated album of the year.
I won a competition at work for a days fishing just a short way up the M1 on that very day. Seems ridiculous to me to be so close and not drop in, that would just be silly. :D
I'm going to do my best to get down to that. Should be a fark'n top night out. :D
I will be in the air, in the middle of a godawful long flight to Sydney. Normally I wouldn't mind (especially since it's being paid for by work!), but I'm a little miffed about missing this one.
I can't be there either, which is really annoying....for me anyway. ;)

Maybe less so for short people... :D

True, but The Luminere have thoughtfully put in a pit in front of the stage that takes about 12- 14" off my height.
At the Dec/Bonzo gig I even sat down on the steps into the pit. No-one was blocked by me at that gig! ;)
But who will provide a great ten minute summary-of-events video now? :(
That flyer looks an awful lot like this old movie poster:

I've sadly already got tickets for another "prog" band playing Wembley Stadium that night....

Yeah, I'm there the night after, but I'm working late friday night (as I do every friday) and as I mentioned in another thread, I couldn't get a lift anyway
I will be there, and I understand Nellie is also making cookies.
I may only be going for the food...

The whole F&*king band has tourettes. And they smell.

"Hello. I'm Russian."
I finally ordered ticket, train tickets, and pre-ordered the album the other day. Not long now. Eeeee! :D
I'm very excited about this gig. It's going to be such fun and the album is awesome and there are new t-shirts. I think The Amazing Wilf is going to make scones!
Being terribly indecisive, and not sure whether I can make it (and all that)...
Are there still tickets still available for last-minute purchase on the door, and can I purchase tBRS at the gig (if I make it) without pre-ordering on the Tinyfish website?
I believe there are still tickets available.

You will be able to buy The Big Red Spark at the gig and a gorgeous new t-shirt to go with it.
Go on, you know you want to

I do! I do!
And Wilf's scones are a very appealing prospect (although as he's from 'Parts North' - they might turn out as rock cakes) ;)

They will have to have grit in them if they're really from the North....
Have pre-order the album sometime ago but can't make the launch gig. Love the Live DVD tho' especially the new tracks which I can't wait to hear in their full studio glory.
And is it just me of is SImon secretly singing 'Big Red Spock' on the Poland DVD :?: :?:
Every time I hear it I get a mental image of an Andy Warhol-esque pop art image of Leonard Nimoy..............................
I always thought it was a song about the planet Jupiter: The Big Red Spot.
I'll be there, I'll be there - I will be there.
And I'm not driving for once ;)
<3 Tinyfish!
Curious things is underrated.
So many prog bands with fish in their name....
tinyfish....
beardfish......
um.... fish....
Well three is many! :P
Strangefish...although they are not around much any more.
Everyone who is going, see you tomorrow. :)
You mean tonight! Yay! :)
Hope it goes well. So wanted to be there but family stuff comes first.
Hope the CD turns up soon....
Oh, Pedders, it won't be the same without you
Quote from: "catherine"Oh, Pedders, it won't be the same without you

Also, if some of you lovely, lovely people take your video cameras, we could possibly make a montage? :P :D

The new Classic Rock gives the album 9 out of ten and a glowing review, really looking forward to my copy arriving.
It was an excellent night. :D I'm sure someone else will give a more detailed account soon, as my mind's far to cream crackered right now to type more. :)
It was a great gig loved seeing so many friends there I must crack on a get some photos up tonight :)
Received my copy of TBRS today, just loading into itunes and the pod as we speak.
Might have to go back though - half the wrinting on the inlay is backwards ;) . Did they use the same CD fulfilment plant as Jem did for TPE I wonder :?: :?: :?:
 (I know its deliberate , no honestly I did)
Likewise, I'm just loading my new copy into the PC now and am looking forward to hearing this much talked about album.
The sleeve credit notes contains a phrase I never thought I'd see:-
"Jem Godfrey - Mellotron on Weak Machine"
Keep calm! 8-)
(Edit: I also see our very own MikeEvs gets a name check too - congrats! )

But was it deliberate to print grey lettering on a black background? With my poor old eyes, it's impossible to read :x
As deliberate as not printing anything in the EIMA booklet I suspect. ;)
I'm struggling with the black/grey wordy bits on the sleeve but the photographic artwork is stunning and very clever. But never mind that, the music is a stonker!

Cheers I filmed the interview that's on the DVD :)

Quite agree about the black/grey wordy bits, i cant read them at all even with my reading glasses and squinting so i haven't got a clue about production notes etc but the music is absolutely fantastic, their quite a talented little lot them godfreys aren't they. :D
OK. Now the launch is done and we all agree with Classic Rock's first ever 9/10 for the album (don't we???) can we have some gigs where the album is performed in it's entirety please :)
