Quote from: "Pedro"I must get my Variax to a Luthier sometime.
If tuned perfectly, fretted notes on third string are slightly sharp.
Nut needs filing or something like that.

Shouldn't need any nut filing if the actions fine, just a bridge saddle adjustment to set the intonation...

Five minute job with a screwdriver :)
I've yet to prove it, but it seems like everything is fine except the distance from the nut to the first fret on the third string.
This makes me think that if I had a similarly adjustable nut, I could make it perfect. Maybe I'm missing the point...

Hmmm... Sounds a bit odd to me, unless there's a large chunk taken out of the nut around the third string  :?

Ask Frost* / Jems Rhodes video?
February 26, 2012, 12:41:19 PM
Hi folks,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of the whereabouts of the video in which Jem showed off his new Fender Rhodes?
Just my lecturer was telling us about the Rhodes the other day and I really wanted to show him just how crazy the sounds you could get out of it were.
No worries if not  :)

Cheers

Don't mean to sound impatient or anything, but is there any news on this?  :)

Quote from: "Arenarec"If Rush suddenly had Mandolins and Banjos on a record, it many ways it would cease to be Rush and would attract a completely different audience.

There's a mandolin on The Main Monkey Business from Snakes And Arrows, isn't there? Mandolins sound great. And it may not be Rush, but there's a banjo on the last Big Big Train EP on Master Of Time. That's something I really do like about progressive music - no restrictions with instrumentation!  :D

Not forgetting the section from Trains by Porcupine Tree ;)
Many a folky instrument in there...

I was talking to a chap in a guitar shop about Corts the other day actually, and it turns out they're often contracted to manufacture guitars for companies like Ibanez and the such. They are wonderful guitars for the money, even down to the finish on 'em!
While I was there he even put a Cort next to it's Ibanez counterpart, and bar the logos they both looked and played EXACTLY THE SAME! The only difference was the Cort was £200 and the Ibanez was £600

It was a cracker of a gig ;)
And I think I speak for everyone when I say WE MUST DO IT AGAIN :D
(If everyone's up for it of course)

So cheers Jem and everyone else for making it a night to remember! x

Good ol' Marshalls ;)

Personally, I've found when using an amp sim when recording guitar, the best thing to do is have the mix coming out of the main monitors, headphones, whatever, and then send just the guitar through a separate output and into any old crappy little guitar amp. This way if you're playing and want the feedback to kick in, you can just move the guitar closer to the amp to get it sustaining :D

Ah ok, cheers folks!
Looking at the list, I think I might have to pass on tracking down a disc, not really making sense in this financial climate  :|
