Other Bands / Re: Devin Townsend's Deconstruction
March 04, 2011, 04:23:00 PM
Going to see him in Manchester on sunday, the day after Lighthouse Family (odd weekend much?)

Love DT, he can move through so many different styles of music and still manage to make it sound like his own. Cannot wait for this album and Ghost (the "atmospheric" album he's releasing at the same time)  :D

Gigs / Re: Gigs in 2011
February 13, 2011, 02:16:38 PM
This year be a fine year for gigs indeed! My bank balance appears to be a helluva lot smaller now though....

Lighthouse Family and Devin Townsend on the 5th and 6th of March, Symphony X on the 24th, Kamelot on the 27th April, Rush on the 16th May, two Iron Maiden gigs in July, and just recently bought tickets to see Rick Wakeman on the 23rd April  :D

Not eating for the rest of the year has never looked so inviting!

I'd be quite happy to accomodate the Banana for a spell Sheffield  :)

So, I don't really know if this should go in here or in the "Toys" section, but this is a cool project I found on the Mike Portnoy forums. A lot of awesome prog music here, it's very much an impressive collection. Best part of all, won't put you out of pocket (future purchases of music notwithstanding  ;) )

This can be found over at http://www.spaceprog.com/

Worth a look I think

Frost* / Re: How did you discover Frost*?
December 16, 2010, 06:56:49 PM
When Frost* were supporting Dream Theater back when, I saw the name and went to wikipedia. Completely blanked what other claims to prog everyone had (until a lot lot later, silly me  ) and looked for album and track listings. Then a quick dash to youtube, First song was Hyperventilate, and I was hooked.

Then I heard Black Light Machine. My ears didn't know what to do with themselves, and I instantly was a fan (and was looking forward to Frost* more than I was Dream Theater!)

Showed the guys to my brother who was coming with me, and his first reaction was: "That John Mitchell guy looks a lot like Rich Hall!"

It Bites, Arena, IQ, Kino all were "discovered" by me earlier this year, can't believe I waited this long!

Gigs / Re: Manchester last night
December 07, 2010, 11:42:57 PM
There still don't seem to be many other videos from Manchester, I wonder if we were just too much in awe
Loved every minute of it, shame about JMs vocals at the beginning but they were sorted quickly enough. I loved the reworking of the first bit of pocket sun, the jem/blunders "battle" into hyperventilate, and everything else as well!  :D
Have to say as well, didn't know what to expect from Ark having never listened to them beforehand   , but it was truly a spectacle I enjoyed being a part of, and being passed a Christmas cracker made it even better  ;)

Gigs / Re: Frost* December (Sinterklaas) gigs

Getting slightly concerned about getting from Sheffield to Manchester now...
Was planning to go back home on the friday and then travel up on the saturday, but not too optimistic about trains at the moment....  :?

Quote from: "Againesis"How's about this to help you kill time before the Xmas gigs?
The Pocket Sun Time Machine

That is amazing :D

I could quite comfortably listen to milliontown 366 times, or TDL 582 times. In fact, since discovering Frost*, I probably have!

It's 13 days to Manchester, 13 days too many in my opinion!

I will be there, along with my brother and uncle :D

I'll be wearing my "keep calm" shirt, shouldn't be too hard to spot me ;)

Other Bands / Re: Rush UK Gigs 2011

Why do bands always decide to steal my money at the same time!?

Frost* gig coming up in December (13 days! YAY!), and then Iron Maiden and Rush have both decided they want to announce their new tours.

Ah well, guess I'm not eating for a few months, worth it

I can't make that one (curse uni lectures and work!), let's hope that this gig is the first of many to come!
