I've been diagnosed with throat cancer, yes, sounds really shocking! The good news is it's one of the least "bad" cancers all contained in one lump on my vocal chord/throat. The ENT/Oncology specialist I saw this morning assures me that 6 weeks of radiotherapy and a small surgary to remove whats left and I'll be feeling like a new man (eventually). This is good news as I've been feeling rather unwell for a while and now I at least know why and what's to be done to put me right again, so no cause for alarm but a time for positive thoughts like where the hell did I hide those bloody hob nobs!
Scary news, but it's seems you've got this! Thinking of you!
To quote Pete, sheeeeeeeeeet
Hope it all pans out as easily and successfully as it sounds
Hob nobs? Jem's been back in, ask him

Be sure to pick wisely. There are some awfully dodgy men out there waiting to be chosen.
Some of them frequent this forum.
Oh wow man, that is some serious news but a great-sounding prospect. I hope that all works out okay.
yeah, good luck and stay positive.
All the best John - I trust the specialists will look after your expensive c(h)ords properly.
Crikey John,
Just want to chip in with some additional well wishes and positive thoughts and things. Looking forward to hearing you post your 'all clear' news in a few weeks!
Pile on some more get well wishes from all of us. :)
Alles Gute, John!! :)
Cancer sucks.
Echo the vibes from everyone else - hope all goes to plan.
And those Hob Nobs are elusive aren't they!
Met the team that are going to be looking after me today. It all started off rather badly with my consultant telling me that the CT scans were showing suspect cells rather too close to my adam's apple for comfort so he's recommended I have a Total (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/007398.htm)Laryngectomy. (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/007398.htm) The outcome of no cancer should remain the same but it will mean that I'll be breathing through a hole in my neck (Stoma). As far as I'm concerned they can do whatever they have to do to keep me alive as I'm sure as hell not ready to be shuffling off this mortal coil just yet! Besides the speech therapist, dietician and Specialist laryngeal nurse are all very attractive young ladies!!*
*I've got cancer, I'm allowed to be shallow............
Hang in there mate, you'll smash this f***er into the ground no probs. Obviously it goes without saying that YOU ARE A LION!! ;)
I think no matter how crappy I'm feeling at times I must always remember that 1) there's always someone far worse off than me and 2) it's an absolute betrayal of all the good wishes and positive thoughts and messages that are been sent by all kinds of very lovely, caring peoples.
I have plenty of fight in me, loads and loads, but the comments I have had from people just add to my resolve to kick the B*****d into touch.
Positive Mental Attitude - One of my most valuable weapons in the weeks ahead :)
Thank you all.
Hope the op goes really well tomozza John - and look forward to seing you back to fighting fitness mate.
