Eight years on from EIMA, satellites fall upon us. The day has arrived. Enjoy, everyone.
It's not here yet :-[ 6:30am and no sign
Not happy yet
Got mine yesterday, its everything i hoped it would be, BRILLIANT.
It's on Spotify by the way. I have soooooo much things to say about it.
But I'll wait until most of you hear it :-)
Just a question though : is Lights Out any different from the Clouda version ? I did not hear any difference from memory, but I don't have the time to check closely.
In other news, I've just had a crusty roll with a rasher of grilled bacon, fried egg and mushrooms inside... it was deelish... 8)
Hear hear! Happy Frost* Day everybody!
Mine has just arrived (well, my first order of the vinyl has at least. Glad it comes with a CD too!). Not listened yet as I'm expecting a phone call. Soon.
Nuthin' here yet man... gettin' jittery.... I'm gettin' jittery I tell ya. :-\

One of the top 10 most wonderful things on this planet, if done right (drools)
At work all day, and then out gigging tonight.
Hoping that it arrives so I can chuck it in the car for the drive to and from the gig, and for the 'big shop' in the morning
Argh, it wasn't in my post this morning!
Suppose it will turn up tomorrow but I'm going to be out most of this weekend, which means that if it doesn't get posted through the door I'll be looking at having to wait until Monday to get my package.
I can't take it! :'(
Shall I break it to him it's bank holiday weekend, which means no post until Tuesday?
Aw man!!
Post man's just been and delivered new CD and t-shirt :)

The album, I has it.
It's rather good, isn't it? ;D
This is The Netherlands calling ...
Our 12 points go to ...
Or would go to, if we'd heard it yet ... :(
In the meantime, here's one of our favourite tunes from 1975, perhaps providing inspiration to Jem, John, Nathan, & Craig for this summer's stage outfits. 8)

Hey gang!! Long time no see. It's been a while since I've been on here but you know what, I'm glad I'm still a member of this great forum.
I have received my "clear vinyl" copy of the new Falling Satellites album today which comes with a complimentary CD as well.
What a stunning album. My favourite album of 2016 for definite!!! Love it. Love it. LOVE IT!!!!!
And well done to my friend Paul Tippett who designed the album cover and artwork. Amazing stuff!!!!
I'm one happy Frost*ie this morning!! ;D
:) ;) :D ;D
Yeehaa!!!

The Australian ones were sent out early, weren't they? So we could all have a listen together? And I wouldn't have to sit hear and read all the rave reviews while I sit here and sadly watch the mailbox for my preorder? Guys?

CD, t-shirt and signed postcard in today's post! 8) Thanks Nellie (& Royal Mail).
First listen coming up shortly.
I notice in the sleeve notes Jem thanks "the Mighty Frosties for unstinting years of love and support whatever the weather". :) Thank you Jem for providing us with the reason to be Frost*ies in the first place!

Yes, this a million times!
Nope - Guessing (hoping) things will turn up tomorrow whilst I am at work.
Nevermind - got the new BBT album to listen to.

Nothing in the post yet here, but I'm not complaining. Happy to wait for the shiny shiny. I even refuse to download it. :)

Yup. Didn't make it here, either, but I wasn't really expecting it to get here, just hoping. I'm starting a three day weekend, and school is for the most part over, so we're going out for a nice steak tonight. and maybe some dancing. and very likely some beverages.
;D
K2's view... "This whole album is an experiment. The Dubstep in Towerblock is really interesting..." He is eligible for half price most places and has just grown big enough to need a full sized bike. We had left him to listen while we went down the pub... to spend an hour or so discussing our first thoughts on hearing flng stlts. Milk it, Godfrey et al...
Day Two in the European Continent Big Brother House, and the inhabitants are glum.
There is silence.
A deafening silence.
To cheer ourselves up, we shall dance.

Holy god damn. I got this album yesterday in the post and had a little listening party to my fancy new vinyl with a couple of friends who I showed Frost* ages ago. It's just ludicrous. I think Towerblock is genuinely one of the best things I have ever heard.
Do I detect the influence of Dr Vai on numbers?
Dear TA/Rook/Gonzo/Rog any other poor sod who hasn't got it
Don't worry
It's worth the wait
And I really wouldn't bother with streaming, there's too much to miss for that nonsense. For instance I haven't even come across the Morse code
OK, initial thoughts after about 3 listens to this monumental work, so I'm only just beginning to get my head around all that is going on.
There are some clear favourites already. Numbers would be a belter of a show opener - v up-tempo. Really reminds me of the Police's Synchronicity 1, in a good way. Heartstrings was already a favourite but has been subtly reworked from the demo. Closer to the Sun really builds and a huge smile came over my face when the unmistakable sound of Satch came in. :) TRATDOTLBI7/8 has a lot in it and has Frost* stamped all over it. Nice Day For It... is, quite simply, the best thing which Jem has done since Milliontown as far as my taste buds are concerned - just pure audio bliss and features bits of Heartstrings reworked in a very Duke's Travels sort of way. Mr Banks would be jealous. British Wintertime starts beautifully (I'd love to know the back story to the lyrics... ???) and builds Anathema-like to one of the biggest sounds I've ever heard, before calming down to a whisper at the end - stunning.
The others I'm still getting used to. Lantern I knew already and I think I prefer the piano version but need to hear it a few more times. Signs has JM taking the lead vocals so almost has a IB / Lonely Robot feel instead of Frost* but has a great PT / Muse guitar riff in the middle. Lights Out has some nice expensive chords and I recall Jem posting it previously in its Clouda project form. Towerblock is the one I'm struggling with. The first 2 and a half minutes will never be my favourite bit of Frost* (sorry, all the dubstep Pro Tools trickery is very clever but leaves me cold :-[). I first listened to the album with headphones on pretty loud and I nearly crapped myself at the sound 12 seconds in - you are warned! :o ;D
Overall, already this is a worthy addition to the Frost* canon. No, it's not Milliontown or EIMA, nor should it be. It is a genuine progression in terms of both songwriting and sounds. Finally, I should add that Blunders and Nathan both played a blinder and are now fully integrated as part of the band as much as Jem and John. Really looking forward to hearing new tracks live now! 8)

Yes, I spotted that as well as the Police influence! ;)

No, it's not Milliontown or EIMA,
I think it's more of an experiment than experiments. Possibly too much variation, not that it's not good, but it doesn't quite seem to flow. Maybe it's the tracks we already know well, mixed with the newer ones. Doesn't mean I'm not enjoying it though 8)

The same happened to me. 3 times!!! I thought someone had knocked on the door, or something had fallen over in the other room, or perhaps that I had been suddenly killed by my collapsing house (which would have been appropriate, now I think about it).
I like the background noises in Towerblock. I may have misinterpreted but it sounds like someone revisiting their old house/flat; "the noise" is closing the door as they arrive, then the light comes one. The reverb on Jem's lyrics sound like he is in a cold, empty room. All very evocative. Genius as always.

Don't forget that we're comparing the new album that's been out for a little over a day to 2 albums that we know intimately. We have had 8 to 10 years to get used to the flow of those albums, I honestly think that in a few months we'll think the flow is just right on FS.

ooo let me listen again...
EDIT - to save me double posting:
You've thrown everything I believed into disarray now. You might be right, but there seems to be the sound of fluorescent tubes coming on, but then maybe it's the creak of a lift. More listens required I think; to both Towerblock and lifts in general.
Postie has just been... :D

I know you mean well, Owen, but ... ;)
But don't worry; I won't be listening to any of it until the CD arrives and I can sit down on the couch with my hifi.
I received a yet-to-be-released album in my very privileged hands yesterday in WAV format on a USB stick (don't worry, perfectly legally, I promise). Listened a couple of times yesterday on headphones and speakers at work and it was nice enough, but on my hifi today at a decent volume ... wow :o
So I'll wait. But still ...
I'm fine with waiting for it and have no doubt I will love it. I'm going to have to stay away from these threads for a while, though, as I'm catching spoilers. :P

About what happens to Jon Snow... ;D
Been a while, had to log in to say that this album is, and I need to use strong words here, fucking awesome!
I had a moment in 'Nice Day For It...' when I thought about renaming it to "In your face, Tony!" Dang that's an awesome piece of fluffy glory!
So many good ones. All of them, in fact. I think 'Nice Day', The Raging Against Wotsit' and 'Numbers' are big glow stick party DJ favourites for me at the moment.
Worth the wait. In gold.

Good to see so many 'old timers' popping back in! :)

Indeed, it is nice to see familiar names again. It's been toooo long for many of them.
Just home to a nice surprise lying by my letterbox.
I'm diving in right now!
If anyone is interested, here's my review of the album.

There a a few French guys running a webzine about prog, they interview celebrities and think they're the kings of the world. I got mad when I heard they had interviewed Jem (how dare they talk to our hero !?) and I had a good reason : their review sucks heaps. I'm super hyper disappointed in them. They didn't even have the fact rights (band members and dates). Seriously a bunch of pains in the ass.
Here is the only trustable French review so far (aka my own personal review) :
this album is rad.

Funny you mentionned this, here is a very personal thing about myself I usually don't brag about : I am very very scared of lighting strikes. The noise. Thanks god I'm at work (from 9am to 2am the following day, is that a life ?) so I can't really do tears in a foetal position at the moment, but I certainly am in the inside :P
