On the Sky Arts 1 website (//http://www.skyarts.co.uk/music/article/centre-stage/), they list their upcoming shows and this includes :-
28/08 High Voltage 2010 UK Premiere
No clue if this will show anything from the Prog stage but there's hope! :)
Oh pedro, you are fantastic sometimes.
I missed high voltage due to a holiday in Amsterdam due to the fact that my favourite bands were some of the last to be added to the bill  I'll be watching this when its on for sure
Yet another great sounding programme illudes me on Sky Arts. :( Oh well, I wonder what this could turn out to be? There were big video cameras everywhere.
I wonder if they'll show Wishbone Ash?
LOL @ Rog
@El: Just doing ma job! ;)
I suspect that the Sky Arts show will focus on the bigger names at the event.
I don't suppose there will be much of the "lesser" bands but I'll be happy to be wrong on that. It depends on how "mainstream" they set-out to be. The trails for the Centre Stage series only mention big names from the several fests they will be covering but this makes sense from a marketing point of view.
The fear is that they might play the Hobbit card and dismiss the Prog stage as "weird" but, again, happy to be proved wrong.
There certainly won't be any Hackett or Zappa cos they were not filmed at all (unless Sky Arts had handhelds I did't see). I don't know what the main stage did or didn't film. I know that ELP are going to release a DVD/BluRay so there may not be too much of them either - which gives me hope that coverage will spread back to the smaller and other stages.
Looking forward to finding out what they do.
Awesome! I would put it on record but unfortunately our Sky+ box recently died so we've had to put together a new system from and old sky box we had in the loft with the sky+ viewing card, which don't seem to like each other too much and the result of that is we can't get sky movies or sky sports, which we have paid for in our subscription to sky!
We've been down-graded to "Sky minus," also known as "sky-"
ELP and ZZ Top promised according to the info button blurb
With the running order for the highlights programme as follows:
- Foreigner: Urgent
- Forienger: Feels Like the First Time
- The Answer: Under the Sky
- Asia: I Believe
- Asia: Heat of the Moment
- Joe Bonamassa: Just Got Paid
- Focus: Hocus Pocus
- The Reasoning: Dark Angel
- Touchstone: Joker in the Pack
- Big ELF: Evils of Rock and Roll
- UFO: Doctor Doctor
- UFO: Only You Can Rock Me
- Marillion: Neverland
- Transatlantic (Montage)
- ELP: Fanfare for the Common Man
- ELP: Rondo
Not much from the Hammer stage then?
NB - the typos are theirs, not mine....
What's this? Transatlantic? Marillion? Touchstone? On a major TV channel? Well, I'll be...
Replay at 3pm on sunday if anyone misses it! ;)
This could change
I wonder if Sky has asked the Copeland Estate for permission to show Fanfare for the Common Man?
Shouldn't be a problem as the
Mr Copeland himself give ELP permission so I don't think the lawyers can do much
one little correction: it's COPLAND, no e. Aaron is no relation to Stewart. 8-)
You're right, sorry!
Quote from: "owen"You're right, sorry!
Well, you don't want to get Copland's Lawyers involved...
Not enough of Transatlantic shown last night
Didn't see any Bigelf or a few of the other bands :(
Did I just miss them or were they omitted?
Transatlantic were the highlight for me but still not enough
They appear to have been cut-out for some reason. Maybe running time or maybe some problem with the footage (hard to imagine the latter).
I was disappointed with the Transatlantic stuff - it seemed well out of sync (sound versus pictures) to me.
I also would have given more time to the higher-billed bands, also limiting every one (except maybe ELP) to just one song.
Currently on Sky Arts is ELP's Isle of Wight concert 1970 and a strange interview, I think it's the Hay Sessions, where someone gave Stephen Fry one word and he talked about it. As the words were alphabetical, M to almost Z, there may have been a part one, but I didn't catch the start,
It was a 2 parter.
Very interesting documentary on Roxy Music, you think of Brian Ferry as a bit of a sharp dressed smoothie but forget they were one of the first glam rock bands. Worth a watch
INXS were on this week
Tonight, Peter Gabriel
coming up this week;
Led Zep
Van Halen
Moog
& there's always classics albums
Did I hear that they've pulled the plug on High Voltage ( ), but we're all going to the Prog Stage in Kingston instead for 7 and 8 July?
There will be no HV this year (cos of the Olympics they say...we'll see if it returns in 2013.
What's parking like for the Drome of Hippos?
I've got my Travelodge room booked already :)
