I have to say it, but tonight I listened to Cardiacs for the first time in bloody ages.

Jesus they were good weren't they?

The whole of the 'Mares Nest' concert is up on Youtube, uploaded by user 'tallbastard'. Or "The Consultant" as we used to call him back in the day.

There's even lounge and techno covers these days...

From the tweets around the time, one can only imagine the meeting where they listened to it to make the decision...

Sadly, what with all this video and music I'm counting in Teras these days. I love them.

Gigs / Re: What's your bestest Frost* gig?

Peel Christmas was just ace, as were the two Esoterics for different reasons.

I also had the pleasure of the Summer's End chalet session, which wins a special award - not least for the most appalling yellow nylon ginham curtains ever to accompany a prog supergroup.

But it's always so tricky to separate the gigs from the surrounding larks...

'Tis indeed extremely marvellous - although the dogs and seagulls in Dear Dead Days are sadly missed. I guess they've migrated by now.  ;)

Quote from: "Pedro"It would be cool to do the wine tasting thing one day.

Didn't I do us a wine tasting once? Don't think anyone followed through on it though...

Quote from: "LivingForever"A hangover? Never... I couldn't possibly tell you were even slightly inebriated when you phoned me...  :D

Enthusiastic, I'd prefer. :-)

Thanks for the nice messages all.

Thanks all. Has been a lovely day so far. A post-PureReasonRevolution hangover to start, alleviated by late breakfast in bed with a rather fine sparkling NZ chardonnay, and then a doze. Now we're off for a pub lunch - marv!

Still got the blighter in the cellar.

Quote from: "tomskerous"Reading the Bruford autobiography at the moment - somehow I suspect he won't be part of the lineup. Particularly if Squire is involved. :-)

A book I've yet to get hold of. Worth reading ?

If you want a rollicking pile of showbiz anecdotes, you won't get it. :-) It's funny, but as far from the Wakeman biogs as it's possible to get. Very considered and mainly covering his philosophies about music - the anecdotes are merely in there to illustrate those points. I'm really enjoying it - a very thought-provoking read.

A great kids song that's been going in cubs and brownies (junior versions of scouts and guides) is "The Animal Fair"

I went to the animal fair
The birds and the bees were there
The big baboon by the light of the moon was combing his auburn hair.
The monkey fell out of his bunk
He slid down the elephant's trunk,
The elephant sneezed
And fell on his knees,
And that was the end of the monkey, monkey, monkey monkey.....

It's best if you divide the class in half, with only half of them singing at first. They then have to carry on singing 'monkey monkey monkey' underneath the second half doing it. Very hard not to laugh. You should then get the parents to join in...

Quote from: "Mooncat"Wasn't there an issue with the It Bites charity single as well ?? Some pressing issue relating to the audio and data I seem to recall.

I'd put the video higher up the list than that.

Quote from: "tomskerous"If it's any consolation, the bottom B on my D50 has just died too.
Bummer ..... but ...... that's after 20 years or heavy duty, isn't it? I mean, they used to build stuff that lasted 10 to 20 years!

Allegedly. This was one of the first D50s into the country, so probably August or Sept 1987. The aftertouch wasn't great after year one, but I never really  used that.

However the JX-10 I bought second-hand about four years later has been really bloody erratic though.
