QuoteJust giving my stunt liver a rinse in readiness for seeing @LordConnaught tonight. We've decided it might be nice to do a gig sometime...
Looks like the long awaited Godfrey and Mitchell experimental baroque rave is on! Probably not Frost* related.
Yes, but as I asked (without answer) does that mean "do a gig" as in "let's do lunch"...or "do a gig" as in "let's put on a concert"?
Keen for both to happen but moreso the latter...shouldn't read too much into it, though. :)
Or maybe he mis-spelled it and meant "jig".
I suspect, from previous reports of when the two of them get together of an evening, that's not unlikely.
I've never been to an esoteric evening.. so that would be quite cool. We could Jig while we're there.
An esoteric jig gig would be wondreful.
Was there ever allusion to negative vibes between them when Frost dissolved? I don't recall anything on that order (although the stuff that seemed to go down between Andy and Jowett, Nathan King, Alex Thomas then Craig Blundell seemed extremely chaotic and unnerving). I'm not looking to dig dirt or dish, but it just seemed like there was a lot of interpersonal fracturing behind the scenes. Through it all it seemed Jem and Mitchell were holding firm, then Frost was done with.
This has been in mind for awhile since Jem hasn't updated his blog for more than a month now, and his silences get worrisome after some time.
Keep us in the loop should anything transpire. I could use another Esoteric Evening bill poster in my studio.....
It's only right that stuff that goes on between people remains their business really so there'll always be room for speculation, sadly. As far as I know there's not been any major fall-outs and while Frost* may have appeared to have a revolving door sometimes it was largely setup that way from the start. Jem stated a desire to keep things fluid from the off and it has certainly been that!
The important thing to keep hammering is that Frost* is only a hobby project so it has probably cost Jem more than it's made, and it HAS had to take its place in life's pecking order...which is where it currently is.
Who knows maybe someday there'll be a book! ;)
Jem still fires tweets of the usual flavour at Mitchell and Blunders, and I can't imagine any way in which a fall out with TBE or JJ would be possible. They're all just too nice people! ;)
I got absolutely no hint towards any negative vibes between them all. On the contrary in fact, it seemed like the new line-up were just starting to really get a good chemistry going. Unfortunately it takes a lot more than just that to keep a band going.
Blunders has let slip on Facebook that he's busy learning prog tracks for an un-named event ....
As for falling out .... I never got any suggestion of any falling out.
Tis confirmed ... There's a gig (woooo hoooo) :)
and not just any gig! once again, you're so lUcKy.
That's the best news I've heard all year. Maybe this is all some crazy dream
Well, it's certainly brought a smile to my face! Wild horses won't keep me away from that gig, wherever and whenever it is. 8-)

Good Point! //http://jemgodfrey.blogspot.com/2011/08/summers-end.html for all those curious.
I guess this means Jem is going to need to buy a new Fantom...

Ah, allusions, allusions.
A post titled "Summer's End" (sorry, my anal retentiveness required that I add that apostrophe): is that a blatant hint or diversionary tactics? Only three weeks away now though ...
And how about the phrase "Before that though as the temperature drops and the Christmas frosts return"? Although I'm sure it's a joining the dots of preposterous proportions, I shall choose to imagine that I will be needing to get a flight to London for a concert at The Peel in mid-December ... 8-)
But I have the feeling you all know more than I do ... stop talking in riddles everyone!
I agree it's not entirely clear (e.g. when / where / is this actually the next incarnation of Frost* or just a gig with them playing polka tunes in 7/8?) but let's face it, any gig with those 4 individuals is going to be good and is a major step forward from where we were in March.
We also now need to accelerate getting that big banana back from its world tour and ready for action again... 8-)
Quote from: "Jem"Christmas frosts return
and
Quote from: "Jem"myself, John Mitchell, Craig Blundell and Nathan King
SURELY can mean only one thing...
It's pretty obvious they'll play at least ONE song they already know, to say it like that. :D
Edit: To those of you who are able to go there, make sure you'll show them how much love we have for Frost*, hopefully that will make it such a pleasant evening that it might be repeated in the future. And THEN I would have booked some time off.
Quote from: "E.S."To those of you who are able to go there, make sure you'll show them how much love we have for Frost*
I will wear ALL of my Frost* T-shirts ;)
WHOO HOO YEAY AND WHOO HOO again am i dreaming ? [slaps self in face] no deffo not a dream WHOO HOO. :D :D :D
ps no matter where or when this takes place nothing and i mean NOTHING is going to keep me away from this one, one more WHOO HOO i think, there that feels much better. :D :D

How much will the tickets cost? I'm actually considering flying over to the UK for this gig.

The date is blocked out in my diary already - fanbloodytastic! It will be a happy Christmas this year! :D
(I just hope we get better weather for travelling than Derby last year... :? )
Holy crumbs of the biscuit fairy... the date isn't booked in my calendar! :D It's the most miraculous thing that has ever happened. I'm really considering flying over now.

Rats - Friday, serious planning needed, holidays in December are verboten. Might need a 'relative' to pop their clogs, but otherwise :D :D :D :D
Blimey, thats quite a trek! Need to work out how I'm going to get there now.
PS - I wonder if now this is confirmed to be an actual physical gig it should be moved into the Gigs section of the forum? Pedders?
Ticket booked - £12 each - poor old Twang knew what I wanted without me saying - "it's all anyone's talking about!"
He used the F* word as well - is that allowed?
Got my Dec Burke ticket while I was at it.....
Well, I've got my tickets booked, no way I'm missing this!
Tickets book for me and the missus also. Can. Not. Wait.
We are in too...for Dec, Magenta and Frost*mas! :D
Quote from: "Pedro"We are in too...for Dec, Magenta and Frost*mas! :D
A Magenta Frost*mas this Declanber?
I'll get my coat...
Thought it was supposed to be quiet around here
Tickets duly bought. Or at least I talked to Twang (I expect) and said I wanted some, but because I'm based abroad, he said it would be best to order them via The Peel's email address for pick-up on the night. Done.
But since he said he would read that email tomorrow and set them aside, I'm worried that they'll all be gone by then, paid for over the phone tonight. He did give the feeling that they're going like hotcakes ...
So, I'm putting this down as a marker: I sent my mail at 19:55 UK time on August 17, ok? I can't miss this ...
Am I late?
If I set off now, I'll be there on time.
Am I being thick, cos I couldn't find any info on the Peel, or the House of Progression websites? In the end I called The Peel, and one very busy sounding barman (Twang had gone home - probably worn out from taking the calls!) directed me to fire off an email to reserve tickets. I'll know tomozza if I've been successful. Fingers, toes and other assorted anatomical items crossed!
Of course, having posted it here, I then got phonecall after urgent job after phonecall so didn't get a chance to book a ticket :o
And I'm off dah sarf tomorrow.
Hopefully the Marvellous Organisational Utility System Extension is programmed to remind me to call when I get a chance. I might just have to pull off the M1 at 9am!
I'll fire 'em a knee mail just to be sure.
I wasn't able to get through to the irate barman but I did get this in an email from the House of Progression:-
"The worst kept secret in the world. FROST* will Play Fri 16th Dec
Tickets are flying out of the door £12 Advance.
PLEASE PHONE 0208 546 3516 ON THURSDAY 18th AUGUST NOON -7.30PM
DO NOT PHONE TONIGHT!! Thank you all."
Think I might be excusing myself from a meeting tomorrow afternoon to, ahem, make a quick call... ;)
I nearly blew up when it all kicked off. I've never moved so quickly before, either. And then the wondreful James H (is he still LivingForever over here?) and Philadelphia got me one with their's. Infinite thanks to you, you lovely people! Ho, ho and indeed, ho! :D :D :D :D
Quote from: "RacingHippo"Hopefully the Marvellous Organisational Utility System Extension is programmed to remind me to call when I get a chance.
Super amazing groovy wow fab reminder system set for 11:30 tomorrow, sir, thirty minutes before game time. ;)
I want to phone at noon tomorrow but I'm supposed to be filming the chief executive at that time, I'm sure he won't mind if I pop out to make a phone call :D
MUST. BUY. TICKETS.
I've sent an email to The Peel, asking how I could get tickets in The Netherlands. I hope they'll have some good news for me tomorrow. :)
Quote from: "Pajter"I've sent an email to The Peel, asking how I could get tickets in The Netherlands. I hope they'll have some good news for me tomorrow. :)
Pajter: as noted above, I called The Peel and was told (by Twang?) that the best way for people overseas to get tickets is to send an email (which you've done) with your full contact details (which you may have done), and then he'll put tickets aside for you, to be picked and paid for at the gig.
That's what I did this evening, so hopefully it'll work for you too. As also noted above, however, the speed at which the tickets were evidently selling out gives me the slight concern that those who're phoning and paying on the spot (from the UK) may have nabbed all the tickets before the emails get looked at tomorrow.
A sleepless night ahead; this gig is not to be missed ... !
(p.s. I made another post earlier that oddly disappeared into the ether congratulating myself on my powers of preposterous prognostications on picking the cryptic announcement to mean a mid-December Frost* gig at The Peel; sometimes wishful thinking can come true 8-) )
Do you suppose the banana would be permitted entry without a ticket?

Good luck with getting a ticket and with getting the dosh together to fly over.

Ah, thanks for that email address! I just shot a message off to him. Let's hope I didn't forget some sort of super-secret clubhouse codeword...
I've been poking around at flights and all that, even though it's probably too early in the game to really settle on anything... Why, of all places, do I have to be trying to get to the UK from

I cannot miss this. December 16th is my birthday. This would be the perfect self-gift. *searches through the flights*...

I need to ask you this: any cheap and close to the venue accomodation? I need to book everytihng for this!

I haven't received a reply yet. But I've used email addresses that were on their website. So I might just be out of luck. I've now asked a friend of mine who lives in London to call for tickets, but he hasn't replied yet either. Damn! Fingers crossed!
I should think you'll be ok mate, the reason it's taking a while is that if one person's trying to pay for tickets over the phone, and someone calls on the other line, it stops the transaction going through.
Be patient everyone! ;)

Waiting for a call back....
Waiting....
STILL WAITING!... :?
This logjam is what comes of allowing just anyone to come to Frost-flavoured events - I'm outraged that people will be permitted to attend who like Dream Theater, Dimmu Borgir, Justin Bieber, Mott The Hoople or Yes.
Especially Yes.

We've had two threads for a while; "Frost* gigs" for, erm, Frost* gigs and "Frost*-ish gigs" for things like Esoteric and Defence of the Realm. As I explained in the previous post, the December gig changed from being "ish" to being a full fat Frost* gig so "-ish - None" is exactly right...isn't it? Look at the second thread in Gigs...am I still deluded?

Ah, ok, see what you mean, Pedro. It was just that the proper Frost* gig thread didn't appear on the active threads page (which is all I ever look at), because for some reason that dates of your posts are set as September 9, 2010.
Presumably you've edited an old post rather than entered a new one on that locked thread. Might be better if you did that, so that it floats onto the active page as being new.
That said, if the gig isn't sold out very soon, I'd be surprised, so might be better to keep it submerged to avoid disappointment for the (slightly) latecomers ... ;)
Yay! got the call back.. bought the tix! see you all there in December!

Young man? Well, there's an admittedly flattering notion I'll be happy to disabuse you of in person in mid-December 8-)
Speaking of which, I can't help thinking that we ought to use the time between now and then to come up with a serious plan for overcoming "The Unknown Frost*ie" phenomenon at the Christmas gig, i.e. having people who converse regularly here on the forum arrive at The Peel and not quite know who anyone is in person.
One option might be some of those delightful printed American conference attendee badges with "Hi! I'm ..." then filled out underneath in magic marker. Yeah, right.
Or we could post a rogues gallery of real pictures here and spend the next 4 months running quizzes until we're all sick to death of each others' fizzogs. Yeah, right squared.
How about bespoke T-shirts each with a common back design from VitP, say, but with our forum name on the front? Might cost a bit, but this might be it for a long time to come (unless we kidnap Jem, John, Nathan, and Craig and make 'em write and record a new album at Nellie's house).
Thoughts, people?
We could print off our forum profiles from the right hand side of our posts and stick it to our tshirts. Remembering to update the post number every time we talk to someone of course.
Those sound like fun ideas.
Ticket booked! So glad my transaction didn't get blocked by the other line. I cannot believe it will have been three years since the last Christmas Do. The 2008 gig was a very special evening for all of the Frosties* in attendance. I hope we're in for more of the same.
Quote from: "finbeard"Now I just have to figure out how to get over there!
Option 1 Start walking....NOW!!!! :D
Option 2 Place yourself in a box, address package to The Peel, ring UPS for a collection (other couriers are available), book yourself into local hospital to repair broken bones
I'm on the case about forum t-shirts again.
Here is our last conversation (//http://www.frost-music.co.uk/frosties/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1963) about it :D

so very jealous. but so very happy for all of you!!
Quote from: "rogerg"so very jealous. but so very happy for all of you!!
Don't know if The Peel has a decent internet connection, but if they do, we could always ask Twang to set up a laptop running iChat connected to you, Roger. That way, you could watch the gig (sort of), and we could all drop by and say hello.
I like that; Roger's head floating in a big iChat window on top of the bar. Then again, it wouldn't be long before Jem turned up and tried to offer you a red wine via the keyboard 8-)
T'would be a cool idea to maybe get a live stream of the gig on the night, for those far flung Frosties who can't make the trip. More so if it sells out, as it is seemingly on track to do.
Is this a possibility ?
It would indeed be a thing of coolness.
But we also need to be a little bit careful not to pile (or even appear to be piling) any of this extra stuff on Jem. I made the mistake of fuelling calls on Twitter for recording/video-ing the thing and it was pretty clear from Jem's response that this is being done for fun and not for hassle.

[Sorry, I wrote this and then got distracted listening to Yes at Wembley in 1978, the awesome Friday Night Rock Show broadcast. By the time I remembered to submit this, Pedro had stepped in with his entirely appropriate caution. Nevertheless, if you read to the end of my post, you'll see that I agree that if this were to happen, it should be done by us, not by Jem or Twang.]
Hmmm, I made that leap as well when writing my previous post. Problem is, I suspect that streaming to a significant number of people is likely to be technically demanding and/or bloody expensive.
I could be wrong, though: has anyone on here got experience of setting up streaming from (relatively) small-scale events like conferences, for example? A quick google reveals a bunch of companies (e.g. Streaming Wizard, Blue Cat Productions, both in the UK) that do it. Blue Cat's prices start at about £1600 for a single camera, single event. Ah, 10% off for new customers; make that £1440 then. Plus VAT makes just under £1700.
One perhaps partial solution to the cost might be to run it as a pay-per-view. 200 people at £10 a pop would more than cover the costs, but I don't know if the non-attending Frost* market would actually be big enough really.
Then again, since you'd presumably also end up with a recording that could be burned onto a DVD, perhaps some of the costs could be defrayed by selling copies to those who were at the gig. But I suppose people might also find a way of downloading the original stream and make it available for free, so ...
To be honest, I'd imagine that this is something that Twang and Jem would be unlikely to contemplate, financial risk-wise. A possibility might be, with their permission, to run it as a non-profit making Frost* Forum sponsored activity, i.e. have some of us organise it and underwrite the costs. I mean, I'd be willing to risk, say, £50 to see this happen and spread the Frost*ie goodness. After all, with the tickets I've bought, flights, and accommodation, my personal costs for being at the gig are already going to be substantially higher than that, so in for a penny, in for a pound.
At the same time, I think everyone would have to understand that this would probably be a pretty rough and ready affair in terms of pictures and sound (unfortunately): it's not going to be the Berlin Philharmoniker streaming quality 8-)
Hmmm, interesting thought nevertheless.
I think Jem made a good point on Twitter. This is going to be a bit of a relaxed Frost*mas knees-up and any attempt to record or stream it will add to the stress, hassle etc and potentially impact the party mood.
I'm sure we're all thinking the same thing though: "what if its the last chance we get". We'll just have to hope it isn't :)
Oh and we all know what happened last time!
Quote from: "JakeWorrell"I think Jem made a good point on Twitter. This is going to be a bit of a relaxed Frost*mas knees-up and any attempt to record or stream it will add to the stress, hassle etc and potentially impact the party mood.
Agreed: the last thing we need to do is add any stress. A party it must be.
(Sorry, am way too much of a luddite for Twitter and, besides, tend to agree with Sean Lock's take on it:
//http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1DPRmprB7Q
)
Quote from: "Pedro"It would indeed be a thing of coolness.
But we also need to be a little bit careful not to pile (or even appear to be piling) any of this extra stuff on Jem. I made the mistake of fuelling calls on Twitter for recording/video-ing the thing and it was pretty clear from Jem's response that this is being done for fun and not for hassle.
That goes for all of us.....
were all getting battered by emails with questions which "IS" brilliant but all I can say is...
there's been a lot of planning for this gig trust me, a hell of a lot of emails and conversations have and are going back and forth between us all. I recon, turn up, listen and laugh with us and just have fun, that's what we are going to do
and regarding last chance you get etc etc, one step at a time lovely people....
Quote from: "Blunders73"I recon, turn up, listen and laugh with us and just have fun, that's what we are going to do
Now that, sounds like a plan ;)
What Blunders said. :)
Agreed, we don't want it to become hassle before it's even happened. Wasn't aware of the associated costs either (a studio local to me does webcast of gigs and the like but don't charge anything like that sort of £££).
Ultimately it was partly selfish as I shall be unable to attend due to me being made redundant that week and with no job on the horizon I can't commit to the ticket, travel and accomodation costs that close to Xmas
Still, just have to hope it isn't the final installment ever.................................... ;)
That's sad news Mooncat, hope you get stuff sorted out.
As for all this 'last chance' talk, let's just take a breath and let stuff happen. :)
Quote from: "Pedro"As for all this 'last chance' talk, let's just take a breath and let stuff happen. :)
Absolutely, I wish I hadn't said it now. We're lucky to get this gig in December. I think i need to go and have a lie down somewhere :P
somebody on Google+ could just throw a laptop on the bar, point it to the stage, and open up a Hangout.
:D
seriously, all cool ideas, but no pressure from this end! 8-)
Quote from: "Mooncat"I can't commit to the ticket, travel
Mooncat, what neck of the woods are you in?
The sunny Midlands
North, South, East or West Midlands?
suppose I should have PM'd
Westerly - Stourbridge to be precise

Right troops, I'll buy the ticket if anyone near Sourbridge can give Mooncat a lift to the Peel?
Hurry up, tickets are going very fast
I'll be in the lakes, (in more ways than one, knowing Captain Pugwash) so won't be around over the weekend
Hey Mikey.
Very humbled by your generous offer - That's why I love this place soooo much, just full of top people :D :D :D
Alas, having mentioned the prospect of going to 'er indoors I still got the nth degree over it being close to Christmas and I'd feel really guilty if I did go.
But really, genuine thanks. I hope we can meet up at some future juncture and I'll get you a beer for the thought. 8-) 8-)
Quote from: "Pedro"Quote from: "Trapezium Artist"I can't help thinking that we ought to use the time between now and then to come up with a serious plan for overcoming "The Unknown Frost*ie" phenomenon at the Christmas gig...
Thoughts, people?
Easy, ask Jem to take the register..."Blundell?"..."Here sir"...
As there are so many of us going would not it be easier for Jem to ask... "If anyone is not here could they put their hand up??"
Well every good AGM agenda starts with "Apologies". :)
I'm seriously considering a trip, but it all depends on economy. I can fly cheap-ish, but I also need the ticket and a place to stay. And of course, learn to navigate a city 10 million times bigger than mine.
So yeah, there's planning involved, but the tickets are selling fast, I hear.
Quote from: "Mooncat"genuine thanks.
We're all heart :D
What an absolutly sh#t day on so many levels, its only the fact that jem and the boys are doing a xmass gig that stops me from from doing something silly like takeing the mrs out [only jokeing dear] thanks boys for helping me keep sane.
Tickets sorted and its going to be another mega drive down, watch the gig and drive home again. All in the same day.
Bring it on!
I can run a demo of the day when i go to see Dec. Doing that one the same way.
Fogey, I remember chatting to you at the Esoteric gig at the Peel . . . . . . . you said you had driven all the way down and were driving straight back after the gig! I remember thinking this guys either totally mad or extremely dedicated.

OMG That's brilliant, Paul! First class! :D
That's awesome.
It's only stuff I've nicked off the net and butchered with photoshop. . . . . . not that clever but thanks anyway. I just had this vision of Fogey and 'The Peelmobile' :D How many miles is the round trip for him?
That picture is genius!
And in answer am i mad or dedicated. Very probably both! :?
Heres one i did for the Big Bananna Tour (Pics from the film Battle Of Britain)

Hi All
Got my ticket for the Peel gig. Anyone know what time the Peel will kick us all out? I need to work out how to get back to London to get the last train home!
Looking forward to meeting some of the regulars here.
Cheers

Thanks to the aforementioned M.O.U.S.E (//http://www.frost-music.co.uk/frosties/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2775&start=40#p48851), I eventually got through to Twang whilst standing in the pouring rain in a queue for a "walk-in drier" at Legoland Windsor (it was raining so much that the queues for the driers were longer than the queues for the rides).
It took a few attempts to be heard over the background noise of torrential rain, hot-air blowers and screaming kids, but I'm pretty sure he said the card transaction worked and the ticket will be waiting for me at the door....
Now to decide if i'll be staying one night or making a weekend of it, and book appropriate accomodation.
So...fancy dress?
I might be persuaded to wear a santa hat

There have been a few thoughts from Frost*ies over on the Tinyfish forum about where to have a pre-gig meet/greet/drink, and the idea was that The Peel would be a good place to do so. They have all the usual stuff available in a bar seperate from the gig area (the bar does extend to through to the venue too, for those who like to booze and bop during the gig). Twang may have to prepare for extreme real ale consumption! What do we all think, would that be a good idea?

Very excited about this gig: I'd assumed I'd lost the chance to see these guys live, thank goodness for the reprieve! There is now one less ticket available; the chap I spoke to confirmed it's all but sold out now.
I pray that this year there will be no evil snow!

Is that because of the gig being "all but sold out", Gandalf? I haven't seen anything about it being completely and definitively sold out, so don't give up yet! Of course, if it's about the cost of travel and such, then that's bad luck indeed. :(

Indeed... "all but sold out" isn't quite all gone yet, but you do need to be quick now methinks; they'll all be gone soon. Frost... it's got to be worth moving hell and earth (and snow) to see, shirley??

ps. you may have guessed: I am still a tad distraught at missing the gig last December because of the evil snow! ;)

i phoned up but was told that i need to phone back friday night. hope there will be 2 or 3 left.
Hi Witchy, nice to see you back here again. I hope you can get sorted on Friday and I'm pretty sure after that there'll be the usual trickle of spares on here. :)
hope so! lovely to see you all again. I'd lost my password (and the will to prog!). I'll make an effort to check in more often!

Hi Witchy, good to have you back.
I too got those messages last week.
There's no-one to take the bookings on a Friday night.
Someone took my details on Saturday but didn't pass them on to Twang, as I found out when I spoke to him on Monday.
How long did it take for anyones tickets to arrive?
If Mooncat is still passing on my offer of a ticket Witchy is next on the list
At least the debits gone through my account

We'll be collecting our tix at the Dec Burke gig. I opted to dodge the additional charge to have them sent out...cheap-skate that I am!
Got back from being away over the weekend to find my tickets waiting - thanks Twang! 8-)

That reminds me. I should book the Travelodge....
Are we all heading to the same Travelodge?
I'm booked in at Kingston Upon Thames Central (//http://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/info?hotelId=397).
(Seems the Travelodge website is having some issues today, can't search for a hotel on the site)
I'll have to check which one we have for that night. We are at The Peel for Dec Burke, Magenta and Frost* and staying at a different Travelodge each time!
Stayed at the Kingston Central one before, quite nice. We parked in the car park opposite it but nearly messed up cos we didn''t realise that the below-ground levels got locked at a certain time (can't remember what time that was). If you're parking there read the signs properly (or ask).
We usually stay at the Travelodges "Chessington Tollworth" or "Sunbury M3", both of which mean you have to drive to The Peel but they tend to be cheaper to book than the Central one (e.g. £30 versus £60).
Just wanted to add that I am still incredibly excited about this.
You and me both, mate. :D

Fair point though. I guess it depends on how much you value the ability to partake of the foaming ale versus expenditure. I find I get intoxicated enough from the music and wonderous people at these events. :)

Good news: Mine just arrived in the post. :D
Bad News: along with a flyer stating that the Frost gig was "Sold Out".
Good News: I've got a spare if anyone missed out. But...just the one I'm afraid. :D
I'm not surprised they have sold out, everyone seems to have bought themselves some 'spares' :D
LOL I was tempted to pick up a spare or two in order to create a kind of "allocation" for forum members. However, realising that my total spend from that phone call was already £160 I decided against! :)

Hmm - that would be ironic - the fastest gig to sell out at the Peel ever but only 100 people turn up as we all bought spares just in case other forum members needed them - but no-one did! ;)
Still, it shows what a decent bunch Frostie*s are, thinking of fellow fans who might have been on holiday and missed the opportunity. :D
Damn and blastations!!! Just returned from my jollies and seen the news about the gig and its selling out. Absolutely gutted. The gig last December was the best gig I have ever been to. This was after being rushed into hospital the day of the 09 CRS gig and then JM getting stuck on the M6 after being burgled. Never thought I'd have the opportunity to see the band again. I know it's a long shot but does anyone have two spare tickets going for sale? Any help would be gratefully received.

I seem to remember finding a curry house in Kingston that was open until midnight. Four of us trooped in 15 minutes before closing and we were the only ones there. Imagine the joy on the waiters' faces! ;) Saying that, the food was good, as was the service and I didn't get food poisoning (unlike the curry house in Bilston). All I can remember is that the place was near a large supermarket (Tesco?), if that's any help?
Quote from: "Dena"I seem to remember finding a curry house in Kingston that was open until midnight.
The Holy Grail!!
Right. We need to know where this place is.
Maybe we could despatch LFE & Philadelphia on a recce.....
Yes, this place must be located, lest it be a mirage that only appears to those hungry and drunk enough.
I'm still reeling from the news, but as things stand, my prog-detesting wife will actually be by my side, experiencing the madness of a Frost* gathering for the first time. Always the first to run a mile from accompanying me to a gig involving non-danceable time-signatures, the words 'Christmas Party', 'possible curry" and 'a visit to 'That Larrrndon' seem to have had a peculiar effect on her.
So Jem, John, Craig and Nathan, the gauntlet has been thrown down. What was to have been a low-key, fun gig has now had the pressure ramped up a Milliontown-fold. We will have a dissenter in our midst. Be prepared for heckles, dismissive banter and general non-mellotronic sentiment to pour forth from her normally sweet natured mouth. Nothing less than a prog babtism is called for. Yo've all seen the film The Exorcist. Well, sort of imagine that with a 7/8 soundtrack.
But you have a head start. She's addicted to biscuits.
Go easy on her guys and gals, for she knows not what awaits her.... ;)
Ahhhhh........ Bugger.
Not been around for a while.
Finally caught up with all of the "news". And bugger me there must be a conspiracy. Gig Buddy can't make this one, I'm in 2 minds as to whether to fly solo or not, then it's all sold out.
And talk of a curry!
Bugger, bugger, bugger.
You could register an interest in the tickets thread?
Well now, please excuse my tardiness, but I thought I'd better register confimation that The Lawnmower and The Mallet will be in attendance, phonecall to Twang placed and tickets duly purchased as soon as the news broke!
Boy is this exciting and unexpected, which makes it even more exciting!!

Bugger, bugger, bugger.

I'm fairly sure that the Frost* crowd would meet all the prerequisites for such a shop to appear...
its all very exciting :D
I'd be more exited if train tickets from here to Kingston weren't so expensive currently £72 is the cheapest available which is really annoying as the month before I have return train tickets to Gatwick Airport from here that only cost £29.
May have to reconsider going if that price doesn't come down :(
I've not tried it myself but I hear you can often get dramatically cheaper journeys if you get several smaller journeys.
For example for going from Telford to London it might be cheaper to get a ticket to Brum and then a ticket from Brum to London than just getting the one ticket to London. 2 singles can sometimes be cheaper than a return too. Worth a look maybe?

I know about that but rarely works on the London-South Wales line I can usually get cheaper advanced single tickets but they're not available at the moment they might be as we get closer to the date at the moment the off peak return is cheaper than two singles

Mike.
I'm ticket-less at the moment, but hoping a kind soul will bless me with one. If so, Newport is only a short diversion for me. And I'll have an empty car. Except me.
The offer is there.
Checked with the Peel and my son cant be smuggled in in a fake beard and dark glasses. 13 is too young which is a shame so im going to have to see if i can get Jem to send him a short message on my camera/video. That will keep him happy, and any merchandise purchases.
Awww that's a shame.
Just have to hope that there's still Frost*age to see in 3 years' time...

Cheers mate I've found out that the cheaper Advance Single tickets don't go on sale till 12weeks in advance even though they allow you book tickets 13 weeks in advance so I should be able to re-check the price next week sometime

Mike, is that the price of a ticket from your's to Kingston, or from your's to the nearest big train station that happens to be in London? Whenever I get the train down from Hull, I get a ticket just to King's Cross, then get one of those Zones 1-6 travel cards, which is about £8, from the machines in the station. The price of a single/return ticket from Hull to Kingston is far more expensive than a single/return to King's Cross and then the travel card. Sorry if I've missed something glaringly obvious, but it was just a thought I had. :)

That was the price to Kingston but it wasn't really any more than the price from Neath to London Paddington, the price should come down next week when advance single tickets go on sale :)
The buzz on this thread has shifted from sheer relief to logistics... wind the wow factor back up, else we'll all be exhausted by December. Tell me about live Frost* , you lucky lot who have had the chance to find out for yourselves....

I'm not particularly old, but I have been to a fair few gigs and festivals and seen plenty of bands live. Of all of them there are 2 I will remember the most. One is the first proper gig I ever went to (Linkin Park, before they really became massive). The other is Black Live Machine at Derby last year - just a great night all round!
Oooo only 3ish months left to go!
Quote from: "lyn"Tell me about live Frost* , you lucky lot who have had the chance to find out for yourselves....
Oh, my, are you in for a treat :)
The Frost*mas gig of 2008 was, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the best gig I've ever attended (if I forget the "Magician's Assistant" part).
It was exactly as JiB described: Utterly, utterly bonkers with a large helping of genius thrown in.
Because it's a small do, it feels very.... cozy, I suppose. The guys are so very relaxed on stage - they don't need to be tense because a) they're all so damned good and b) if they
do screw up, it just adds to the hilarity.
On that occasion, Dec's voice was so shot by the end when they were about to do a progged-up rendition of "Merry Christmas Everybody" that Jem just asked if anyone in the audience wanted to do it - which was how we were introduced to the highly-talented Cosmic Lawnmower (//http://www.frost-music.co.uk/frosties/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=233) :)
You don't get that at a Rush gig. Or Transatlantic. Or... well, anything really.
Yep: Genius, unhinged.
You'll love it.
You can find several videos on YouTube that give a good hint. I've put up a few, search for "waitepb" and the related links should take you to others. Also check out the Esoteric Evening clips, much to enjoy. :)
Ta, good reminder, so, went back to u-tub
Toys, hit play....within 2 seconds....Cue the kids... "Mum's playing Frost again...." (So?)
My 8 year old is in a major mong cos he can't come to the Peel too...i know how he feels. I had my gigging wings clipped cos I wanted to see rory gallagher when i was smaller...
I quite deliberately haven't told Pygmy Hippo (8) as I don't want to dissapoint him!
Oooooooooooooooooh, I've suddenly got that very excited shiver about this again. You know, the one that kicks in usually when you're only about a day or so away from the gig. Is it December yet? :)

All sorted now train tickets booked this morning for a far more reasonable £35 although did involve having to book from Neath-Waterloo (£15.50), Waterloo-Kingston (£5.50), Kingston-Neath(£14) to get the cheapest deal as from Neath direct to Kingston was still showing as £69
Hooray, Mike!
Apparently my plans on coming to the gig have failed. Stupid money... :(
Aww, that's a shame.
Hello all, long time no post!
So very excited about this - got me tix, for me and my new Mrs P (she claims to be a non-progger, but I saw her tapping her foot in 15/8 at our first gig together, Spocks at The Robin in 2007).
Looking forward to seeing everyone again (I gate-crashed your pre gig meet-up in Derby last year, then got totally smashed and spouted bollix all night), and hope to be on better behaviour this time if you let me join you - Mrs P will have my jewels tightly clamped in case of over-exhuberance!)
I know some of you guys are staying at various TravelSplodges, but am I right in assuming they don't have a resident's bar? Anyone know of a hotel with a retreat, within (arthiritic) walking distance from the venue (I'm not reet familiar with that Lahndahn place).
Oh, and HAPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! :D
Hey there, Andy P! :)
Gandalf, you will be missed, good sir. :(
I'm hoping that I'll be allowed in the room. I might have to insist!
Of course you'll be allowed. Shirley no-one will be wanting to buy merch during the gig?
Quote from: "Mouse"Shirley no-one will be wanting to buy merch during the gig?
Forum rule number 44, part 1, section b, paragraph 6. No-one shall buy merch during a Frost* gig or we'll send the boys round. (OK get Pedders to stand over them) You shall go to the ball

You're very kind Sir! ;)
Must admit I'd love a re-run!! :)
Firstly, apologies to all you loverly Frosties for being a bit quiet of late. (and on Twitter as a very nice young lady pointed out to me at the IB/MA gig last nite). Nowt sinister, just lots and lots of boring life type things taking over, and me trying trying to get some finished music recorded for my new Soundcloud page... more of this shortly I hope.
The reason this post is here is because even though I have tickets for the Xmas AGM I may not be able to make it! This is because somewhere there is a scalpel blade with my name on it, and scheduling has so far decreed that I will be making aquaintance with said item on the week of the gig! it's nothing too major and is in fact an in and out on the day job, but I probably won't be in a position to bounce the Big Banana that close to the laughing gas. However, I'm not going to offer my ticket at this point in time, things can change, as they already have, and I may get another last minute postponement. So, if anyone is still without a ticket during the week of the gig, PM me and I'll let you know what's happening
This is a sort of win-win situation. One way I get a nagging "injury" in operation and the other I get to see a damn fine band in operation.
I'm WELL excited :) I've mentioned this on twitter once, I think, But me and my girlfriend are thinking about making biscuits to bring if anyone would like some :) We'll put your name on them and everything! I think we just love an excuse to create something delicious. I was warned by Mouse, however, that I might be encroaching on Nellie's territory, so I hope I don't make any enemies here... Haha!

Ok then... how's about we all meet for beers at the Peel from, um... opening time!
And then post-gig I suggest I try the nearest curry house, and I will see if I can get them to stay open for us.
Can anyone who's interested in post-gig curry send me a PM so I can get numbers?

For pre Frost* Bevs The Peel will be open from Noon :D on Friday's. Which is nice.
Oh, I forgot it's a ruddy Friday... :o(
Right time to get organised.
Anyone still wanting a couple of tickets let me know. Only if you haven't previously said so.
I think everyone that I promised them to either can't go or already has some.
If there is anyone else, let me know which thread and page it was, as I currently have a taker for both tickets, but I need to make sure that I'm not letting anyone down.
ES, your's is in the bag. No problems.

Oh, bother!
I've got to try to limit my alcohol consumption so I can remember the gig; you're not making this easy!
Edit: Not sure if it was you, Twang, that I spoke to, but I was "promised" (my words, not yours/theirs) an email confirmation. Didn't receive one, just a verbal one whilst paying on the phone. Slightly concerned I may not
actually have tickets when I think I do without some kind of textual confirmation.
Drinking from noon until the gig starts? That's hard core.
I plan to remember the gig too, and to spend the first part of the day on shopping and sightseeing, never been in London before. And sample some of the local restaurants.

Well I didn't actually mean drink from Noon till the gig!  That would be very silly. (Unless the Earth is about to explode to make way for a Hyper By pass of course, then, well drink up the World's about to end.)
What I mean't was the bar is open from Noon, ergo it will be open all afternoon, evening, night, eternity.........Unless the World ends of course and then none of it is my problem. :D
Oh and what's all this about fish? I never got any free fish!!

As much as I would like to, I am planning to do Christmas shopping in the morning, then as it is the last day of term will go and pick daughter up from school and then not sure what until husband gets home so that I can finally go out. I will probably end up being there normal time, around 7.30
You'll probably have a lot of catching up to do with the drinks by that time. We could line them up along the bar for you. ;)
6 weeks to go..... :)
Oooh, it is. :D
I'm already getting excited. Just waiting to get on the plane.
I'm a bit of a newbie to the wonderful world of Frost. Bit gutted that the gig is sold out according to the Peel website, is there any source for tickets that anyone knows of?

Also played a blinder as Sawtooth Junior's Uni term ends on the 16th, and we can pick him up fom Luton on our way back oop North on the Saturday so it's all worked out really well. I may be able to help, although I'm waiting on a decision from someone else who's put their finger on one of my two spare tickets ...
Will keep the forum posted ...
Apparently it's no longer "Twang at The Peel"...it's just "Twang".
Not sure what this means for Prog gigs at the venue going forward....I seriously hope that they'll continue.
I think Twang's just doing the prog gigs now. It's less of a workload for him, y'know, so he doesn't die. ;)
Not dying is a good thing, I'd vote for that. :)
Phoning up to arrange for my daughter to collect some tickets when I couldn't get there, only to be told; "He doesn't work here any more" was unexpected. I didn't want people to be similarly surprised on the phone.
Ahhhh, so excited! Looking forward to the pre-drinks 'n all! I'm not sure what time we'll be getting in, but we'll get there as soon as we can. I refuse to miss any more than is entirely necessary :P Who am I to PM about the post gig curry?
I think we dropped the curry responsibilities onto James H (LivingForever), but he's a bit ill at the moment. It might take a while to sort out, but it's certain to happen. I love curry.

I'll be driving there from Reading, and back afterwards (post-curry, if it happens). I have one spare seat in my car, if anyone would like a lift.
Just thought earlier, since I've never been to the peel before, I'm trying to work out how much this trip will cost me. How expensive are drinks there? Only I usually drink Vodka and that tends to be pretty expensive at some places...
I walk in with money. I walk out with less money and in a slightly wavey line. Does that help?

The Peel is not priced like central London venues or worse still *shudder* 02 or Wembley prices. For Londoners it seems cheap. I would guess Northerners may find it expensive.
For a Norwegian it's gonna be dirt cheap then. :D

Hmmm, there's a thought: renting a lens. My 18-200mm lens for my D7000 is currently back at Nikon for repairs after the zoom ring became, err, very stuck, and I'm not sure of getting it back in time for The Peel.
Despite it being only f/3.5 to f/5-ish at best, the D7000's rather excellent low-light level performance means that the combo's not half bad for concert pictures, at least by my standards. I used the pair at ISO1600-3200 at the Arena concert at De Boerderij recently, as I posted in another thread here ...
OK, an f/1.2-1.8 would be nice for the limited DOF and bokeh, but I've been trying in vain to get a hold of the AF-D f/1.8 85mm Nikkor lens from my local (best price) supplier here for a a month or more: as they're made in Thailand, supplies have dried up (if you'll pardon the inverse pun).
On the other hand, since I'm sure there'll be plenty of photogs at The Peel, p'raps I should spare myself the bother and listen instead ... ;)
More gig news
Quote from: "@planetFrost"This It Bites/Frost* gig might be happening after all... If it does, I hope we really can play The Scala. I love that venue.
nothing confirmed of course but sounds like a good night! except its miles away from me as usual! :P
don't tell anyone though its supposed to be a secret ;)
The secret is safe with us. :)
What gig ;)
Quote from: "MikeEvs"Have hired a 50mm f1.2 lens for this gig as the lighting in the peel can be a bit on the dark side sometimes, got it for the weekend so that I can try our the lens for some video stuff to :)
Yeah, I'm just going to leave my camera at home. There'll be a fair few professionals and experts to cover events from many different angles, so I won't get in the way of that.
I am getting
seriously excited now. And I bloody need this gig - it'll be a much needed pick-me-up.
Quote from: "Pedro"The secret is safe with us. :)

Must be the AGM - I can't think of any others that haven't been officially announced that may or may not feature other bands related to Frost*.

Me too but will have to make do with renting one for the weekend, can't afford to buy it
Just (finally) booked into the travelodge!
less than 10 days now!
exciting!!!!
a few days for the crazy snow from last year to come back too! fingers crossed (as long as it doesn't stop us getting there of course)
Exclamation marks!!!
No. More. Snow.

haha, not a fan?
Just a little sprinkling to make everything shine will be perfect for the AGM. Then it can blizzard after.

Can we have a chance to get home before the blizzard? I can tolerate a Travelodge for a night or two but I don't want to spend Chrimble there....
I'd rather not have any problems getting back home. As soon as I've taken off, it can snow like crazy as far as I'm concerned. :P
Eeek - 9 days. Travel Plans now arranged. Looking forward to meeting some of you.
There was talk of a drink/meetup beforehand (Your suggestion Mouse?).
Is that happening and if so where and when?
:D :D :D
No snow!
Had enough of it last year!

I,ll second that... ;)
The good thing about the Derby snow was that it had been around for quite a few days before the gig so the roads were pretty clear if not a little foggy. Pub car parks on the other hand though...

It's her first proper grown up gig (ok so most of you dont qualify as grown ups but you know what i mean!) :D

Is that, all drinking to be done in the Peel whatever the arrival time. Makes it much easier than hopping from pub to pub, or walking, running
Does anyone know when we're going there? I won't be able to read the forum due to lack of laptop when I arrive the 15th... I don't even know when the gig starts.
Quote from: "E.S."I don't even know when the gig starts.
I think it starts on Friday
Thats why I was hinting at the Peel all day then theres no problem trying to find everyone as the timetable goes tits up
I'll be severely jet-lagged by the one hour time zone difference anyway, so I'll just hang there all day.. or something.
From a Twitter exchange I spied on (my apologies, Mr. Worrell), the Twats In Hats will be on around 20:00, some band called Frost* on at around 21:00. Ish. I suppose the earlier you get to The Peel the more merrier you'll be come gig time. ;)
I really am going to need this bloody gig. I severely need a boost of good vibes and my sleep pattern has pretty much been obliterated... I'm not expecting much from a little bit of live music and a curry, am I? :P
Twang mentioned that the Peel bar will be open from midday on 16th. Whoop!

You mean, the less of the gig you will remember? right? ;)
I hope to be arriving at The Peel at 5.30 to 6pm-ish, depending on the traffic.
I have to drop a son at Bassingbourn for 4pm and will head down after then. Looking forward to it! :)

Have hotel booked, If anyone wants picking up from Yorkshire (West), or on the way. I have plenty of space
We are driving down from Yorkshire (East)
We can wave to you on the way down the motorway. Look out for the white Marillion Prog mobile.
We can all have a race with RacingHippo again, like on the day of the Esoteric Evening. (God, that seems like aaaages ago!)
I've got the day off work on Friday so will probably be heading down early-ish (after I've had 2 front tyres fitted, my poor bank balanace!), are there Things To Do nearby?

Yes I'm coming back on Saturday, how do you want to work it?
Getting slightly anxious about the weather; severe gales predicted on the south coast for Thurs/Fri... I really hope that doesn't stop the ferries from running, or else we'll be buggered. Living on an island has it's drawbacks at times. :|
Fingers crossed we'll see all you good Frost*ie folks on Friday night.

Generally fine, although I don't really know any different as I've always been here!
Guess it can be a little insular :?
I thought no man was an island? Well according to John Donne anyway...
No man is an island, apart from the Isle Of Mann. That was actually the original full name for Steven Wilson's pre-Porcupine Tree group No-Man, don cha noo.
Let's just pray the weather won't make a mess of the air traffic. Was a bit of a panic this morning, it's sheet ice all over and rain, makes it slightly hard to do any safe landing and taking off. Somehow it seems silly they can't fly because of conditions on the ground... :|
Does anyone else remember suggesting to Jem that just maybe there are better times for an AGM than mid-December?!? :)
I am just glad there's no snow forecast this time... hopefully my little car will be able to get me there through the wind and rain... I couldn't bear to miss a second Frost* gig due to pesky weather.
I hope the wind won't be too bad for the cosmic lawnmower's faerie crossing ;)
Cheerio,
Keith
ps. starting to get quite excited about it now...
Remarkably, the weather in Kingston for Friday night is forecast to be dry, partly cloudy, and 3 degC. That's tropical conditions compared to the Derby gig last year. Might not need my thermal undies after all.

I'll have to slum it with my 1.4..
Just in case anyone's stuck, duplicate of my post in the spare tickets thread..
Stop Press:
Hmm, if you ask very nicely, I *may* just have a spare ticket..
I've got two, including my own, but my ever-so-lovely girl friend who's supposed to be coming with me fell off her horse in a particularly spectacular manner yesterday and it seems she may have broken her foot. Dozey mare. (Abi that is, not the horse).
I shouldn't laugh I know, but it was particularly funny to witness, though she's gutted that she may be off her feet for a few weeks I did point out that missing the AGM was a far worse price to pay than having to put yer feet up all over xmas.
Anyway, given it's this close to the gig and I'd like to cheer her up I figure that if she can't come I'll offer the spare up to the highest bidder and Abi can treat herself with the proceeds. PM an offer and highest bidder by say 9pm wednesday evening (GMT) will get the ticket. Obviously collection at the gig only but I'm definitely going, even if I break all four limbs and will be around from late afternoon/early evening for coffee/pub/random meetup before the gig to sort it out.

Ooo Facebook and twitter are starting to buzz with AGM discussions!
I'm incredibly excited!

Been more excited than a 38yr old should be for too long to remember already but yes...it's really starting to ramp up now. Plus, been on a 100% Frost only audio diet on my 90 minute morning and evening commute for a fortnight now & I'm not convinced my brain's not going to melt before Friday night.

Snow, or thermal undies? :?
Wellies, snow chains, battery booster and shovel in the boot of the car. You know, just in case like!
And then comes the Norwegian bastard in just a t-shirt. :D
Leaving for the airport in a little while, bloody excited now! See you all there. :)
Safe travels, E.S. :)
Have a good Journey ES see you tomorrow :D
Not quite as dramatic as coming from Norway but Kate & I will be setting off later this afternoon. Bizarrely it is a lovely sunny day up here in Scotland but the forecast for 'dahn sarf' tonight isn't too good... :?
Still, if I made it to Manchester and Derby in all the snow and ice last year, a bit of wind and rain won't stop us tonight!
See you all tomorrow! 8-)
Far-away Frost*ie Friends printed off and ready to accompany Fogeyspasm's Fighter Command unit down to The Peel. We'll need some Blu-tac so they'll get a good view from the wall... ;)
Sits here smirking.
Should have the day off today, but I came in for 2 reasons.
1 - Catch up on some tacho work ;)
2 - See the look on my boss's face when he forgets I'm not here, which he did
Tried to claim I hadn't had a conversation with him & I just said Frost*

Just a light smattering of snow here in Stalybridge, not enough to warrant the Land Rover!
Just finishing off my weekly forecasting for work (not weather forecasting!), waiting for Mrs P to finish work early then setting off about 1.pm.
Google Maps says go over the Pennines and down the M1 - Given RH's report on snow conditions, this is perhaps not a good idea!
See you all in the Peel then. Save a glass of Advocaat for me please.

Hmmm, spoke too soon on the weather conditions. Bloody chucking it down now. :x
Result! The predicted overnight heavy gales seemed to have passed us by further out in the English Channel, it's relatively calm here on ol' Wighty at the mo, even got a bit of blue sky and sun.
All bodes well for an uneventful crossing to England...yay!
See you later my Frost*ie chums; boy am I looking forward to this!! :D

Oh..... Um. OK, I'm on my way!
I don't post much here but me and my mate Laurence are coming tonight and I am ssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited! Plus I am eating some Nice biscuits right now, which seems entirely appropriate for this forum.
It's been gigtastic of late - saw Green Gartside of Scritti Politti last week (couple of videos here if you like them - http://www.youtube.com/jsnowdendavies (http://www.youtube.com/jsnowdendavies)) and Motley Crue/Def Leppard on Wednesday at Wembley (videos won't upload yet).
Both were ace, but tonight is the one that is really gonna be KOOL! Just got to decide which teeshirt to wear yet - TPE or the white one with the black sleeves...
Ok, I am *finally* getting excited and finding it a little hard to do any work this afternoon... :D
Knock, Knock
Who's there?
Racing
Racing who?
Racing Hippo....we're off :D
about 3 hours til I go home, pack, and give you all my lurgee - but before anyone blames me when they catch the prog flu, blame Bert first
Quote from: "LivingForever"Ok, I am *finally* getting excited and finding it a little hard to do any work this afternoon... :D
Work?? WORK??? Are we supposed to be doing work? I assumed this building I was in today was just somewhere to keep my laptop until Monday?
My teacher wife just got in touch and told me one of her tutor group hyperventilated earlier in class? Coincidence?? I think not!
Time to get changed and then start walking Peel-wards I think!
See some of you in a bit... :D
To all my fellow Frosties,
have a wonderful time tonight - gutted I can't be there, but hopefully there will be a 'next time' and I will be there in abundance (and how does a bun dance????)
:D
May your set-list be long and your popadoms crispy. Have a great night all!
B xx (//http://i40.tinypic.com/qqza8g.gif)
Great great night. Perfect set. Bloody hot but brilliant.
Still driving home so just a quick note: High points for me - Saline, BLM (as always), TDL was everything live it had the potential to be last year, unexpected encore segue into Milliontown.
Nice to see a few faces too - shame it was too rammed to chat too much.
As Jem said at the end: they'll be back next year...can't wait!!
I left a bit later than I probably should have and then had a nightmare on the sth circular. I didn't get there til they were finishing Don't you want me  but on the plus side I didn't miss Losers Day Parade. :D
Saline!!! As DS said - I have now finally seen it live! It didn't register until DS said that.
Then a bit of hanging around before the rather splendid curry. Great night that thankfully was not spoilt by snow. Can we change our year end to summer?
My review coming later but for now, here's the setlist...
Twats in Hats
Wires (Athlete cover)
Somebody Loves You (Nik Kershaw cover)
Ordinary World (Duran Duran cover)
The Forget You Song (Frost* cover)
Don't You Want Me (Human League cover)

I *was* directly behind Pedro for most of the gig, but he very, very, very, very, very, VERY kindly agreed to swap spaces with me for TDL and the encores! :D
Will check your videos soon L33VEY - I too have some YouTubery and will be sharing it soon (if the new YT agrees to upload anything I give it these days...).
ACE to finally see the band live - a really fun night!
Back home, after a day of travel.
What an absolutely lovely and brilliant evening that was! I'm still smiling here. :D
You're a wonderful bunch of Frost*ies everyone, so nice to finally meet the people behind the nicknames, avatars and witty comments about biscuity things.
And a BIG thank you for the surprise t-shirt, that's so kind of you. I'm utterly moved by such a gesture.
Then there's the curry... Really sorry, I was just taking a photo with Jem and Mitchell, and was one minute behind, but somehow I got totally lost and ended up walking for ages and ages. I'm not good at directions, and just walked the same way someone else did... Obviously the wrong people. Came back to the Travelodge from a totally different direction.
It won't be the last time, I'll fly over again. It was SO worth it. :D
Even though I only saw a little of the top of their heads... Must wear high heels.

Ahhh Cheers for that L33VEY, looks like it was a complete Frost* fest!
A truly great night out but then again it always is at a frost show, no matter how well they perform the main thing for me on these nights [and theres been seven of them now] is that the band and the fans just seem to have lots and lots of FUN, i truly beleive that this is what makes frost stand apart from every other band. :D ps the music helps as well. ;)

Oh, and I'm guessing you'll probably be wanting this too:
Youtube - Black Light Machine (//http://youtu.be/ATsBY5MQvRQ)
Yes got all the Ash track. Got the lot, just gonna take a while to upload and the theres no close ups as i was too near the back. Just 4 guys on stage footage, oh and the two guys on stage footage aswell!
Gonna start uploading soon.
I've just uploaded my footage of the Intro and Wonderland.
//http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRxTFgw6PVI
With all this footage we could prolly cut together a half decent bootleg video.
Amazing gig,so glad i travelled over and saw the band playing so well!!Loved it,can we go again...next week ;)
Really happy to have been there to see everyone again and Jem and the lads were on fine form. A gig like this looked very unlikely earlier this year and I feel privileged to be able to see the band in action again.
I must say though that although I'm all for as many fans to see Frost* as possible, the amount of bodies in the Peel last night made for a slightly dulled and detached experience I'm afraid viewing from the back of the room, but thats partly my fault for not getting to the venue earlier. It just felt a little too rammed for comfort is all. Is this normal for the Peel 'cos it didn't seem like this at the last time I saw the band there Xmas 08?
Anyway grumbles over, it's most uncharacteristic of me to be doing anything other than spouting unbridled praise :) I'm still enormously grateful to Frost* for pulling out all the stops to kick Christmas off in style. Thanks chappingtons!
Thanks for the videos. I heard the gig, now I can finally see it too. :D
Crikey, I never knew King was such a singer. :o Awesome!
The difference between this year and last year is that there was a telly in the other bar last year that you could watch. This meant that everyone had to be in the main bar making it such a nightmare. But bizarrely it was much more squashed at the back. When I got through (thanks :D ) there was a lot of space at the front. :!: :!: :?: Well not space exactly but not as hellishly sardine like as it was at the back.
I really feel for everyone at the back.
Well, well, well: so many things to say ... since it was the AGM, let me give my personal minutes in no particular order.
1. Gig: A complete blinder. Some bum notes and under-rehearsed tomfoolery perhaps, but I couldn't give even the slightest of a damn. It was Frost*, it was Christmas, it was one of the best gigs in many years, probably since the 2008 Christmas Peel gig ;)
As a foursome, this lot are all technically superb and I have to admit that from my vantage point on the left near the front (more below), I spent most of my time with a big grin on my face watching the newer boys, Nathan and Craig, giving it serious rhythmic welly.
2. Sound: Combined, this band is heavy; it seemed much more full on than any of the previous Frost* gigs I've been to. Absolutely nothing wrong with that; I know the songs backwards and forwards and so the fabulous melodies were always there, but it was rhythmically hugely strong as well (see above), making it very danceable (and I'm no dancer, as anyone who knows me can testify).
On the down side, it was getting far too loud and "crashy" towards the end of the main set; I loved that they played TDL, but major sections of it were lost to the over-cranked sound. It wasn't necessary; the encores seemed almost as loud, but the crashing had been dialled out and the sound seemed much clearer. I spotted a number of people around me noticing the same thing, so doubt that it was just me. Anyway, the ringing in my left ear has gone by now (!) and I'll remember to bring my earplugs next time ;)
3. Band: Great to have a chance to chat with everyone, if only briefly. Craig: will send you the picture I promised. Nathan: excellent form, sir. JM: Long may RMS Titanic II avoid those icebergs. Jem: Any time you're over this way, I'll get you into our big anechoic chamber and we can have a natter about Science!
4. Frost*ies: Ladies, gentlemen, you are wonderful. I'd met a few of you at previous gigs, but the custom T-shirt idea was genius (thank you, VitP: very good to make your acquaintance too, sir!) and I felt like I'd really joined the family in person, as opposed to in electrons, by the end of the evening. No time to talk with everyone in detail and I regret that my time with Pedro was only fleeting, but I know that there will be other occasions ;)
As for our dear Norwegian friend, E.S., I'm so sorry that we lost you en-route to the curry. You looked ever so slightly shell-shocked to actually be at a Frost* gig and meeting your fellow Frost*ies, but understandably, given the chance to lig with the band afterwards, you took it with relish. BBS and I did hang around hoping you'd catch up with us and LFE did call you a couple of times once we were at the curry house, but it wasn't to be. Next time again ...
5. Peel: On the upside, it's as friendly a place as you can imagine. When I went to pick up my tickets (with Catherine and Alex1812 in tow, to whom I'd sold two), Gorgeous George had no record of my name on his list  and asked us to stand to one side and wait a minute. After less than that minute, he declared with a smile that we were blocking the door and stamped us in anyway. When I said "err, do you want me to pay you?", he said "what; you haven't paid? that's the other list!". He promptly found me and I paid. OK, I could have got us in for free, but that would have seemed so, so wrong (hopefully Catherine and Alex1812 don't mind ;) )
Equally on the upside, I had a lovely chat with Twang: thank you, sir, for everything you've done and do do for us Frost*ies. Hugely appreciated.
On the downside, yes, it was horribly stuffed and hot. I started off in the cubby hole at the back with Catherine, watching the Twats in Hats from behind a gentleman that I suspect based on later evidence may have been Craig's dad [edit: Nellie tells me further down the thread that it can't have been Craig's dad as he no longer with us, unfortunately; but seemed to have been someone that had come to see him play rather than Frost* as such]. Absolutely no fault of his, but I was getting very frustrated and upset with the lack of visibility as well as the lack of oxygen, and thought my night was going to be heavily compromised.
But once the break came, I used my camera (more below) as a route onto the main floor and within a couple of people from the front. As noted by Ash, there was actually a little more space there and I was completely sorted. Thanks to everyone who let me push down there and steal some of their space. Nevertheless, I think we may have to hope for a more voluminous venue next year; I can thoroughly recommend De Boerderij, just around the corner from me ;)
6. Curry: Also an excellent idea, so thanks to LFE/James for that. Sorry for boring/baffling people with a little too much physics, but I did enjoy everyone's company and the food wasn't bad either.
Watching LFE and Philadelphia totting up the final bill and acting as banker was indeed quite a drama, but we persevered and got there in the end. I still harbour a sneaking suspicion that the restaurant may have double-accounted for the £100 deposit, but I'm equally sure that Philadelphia was adding the bill up right, so I remain confused.
As one of the "here's another tenner, let's get out of here" backers though, I will take that pint next time, James ;)
7. Photos/YouTubery: Thanks a lot to RiK for uploading his pictures: excellent stuff. I managed to get one or two decent ones from my slightly more distant vantage point (including one that I need to send on to Craig; see above), but overall the lighting was just too low for my 18-200mm Nikon superzoom in a bopping crowd, even at ISO3200. I've been trying to buy an 85mm f/1.8 for portraits for the past couple of months, but the Thailand floods have made them very hard to come by. Would have been perfect for this gig from where I was standing.
Then again, every time I raised my camera, I felt my engagement in the actual music ebb away; that's the reason I gave up being a somewhat more serious concert photographer in the early 1980s, in fact. So again, thanks to RiK for (a) having a big lens (which I spotted from a distance ;) ) and (b) taking the time to get some great shots to fuel my memories.
On the YouTubery, I shall wallow in that later. I have a section of BLM from my camera, but suspect that you lot will have done much better ...
AOB: Just a huge thanks to everyone in and around the Frost*ie family, but especially to Jem for believing in himself and Frost* enough to get back on the horse. Whatever comes next, we are and will remain eternally grateful: you have created something truly special.
Date of next meeting: TBC, but no later than December 2012. Earlier if new album results in a tour (yes, please).
smashing review
I'd like to propose the motion that we consider TA's post to be the official published minutes of the AGM.
I agree!
Right, I think I've recovered enough (AKA actually got some sleep!) to finally show my mug back in here. I had an absolute blast! The band were so relaxed and were clearly enjoying themselves. It may not have been as tight as the last set of gigs, but the feeling was much, much better! So many smiles, so many people bouncing around... Excellent, truly excellent.
I would go and see this band and their music live anyway, but you lot really do enhance the experience. Meeting up with everyone for a good natter before and after the gig was like having a warm family reunion. It was so good to meet everyone I hadn't met before to put faces to names. So many wondreful people really are the icing (should that be Frost*ing?) on this most brilliant, joyous and downright tasty piece of cake.
Big hugs all 'round! :D

Seconded.....all in favour....
Additional:
I cried with laughter during No Me No You.
Extra special thanks to Fogeyspasm for carting us there and back *salutes*, LFE and Philadelphia for once again giving me somewhere to crash for the night, to everyone for the fab natterings, and to Twang for EVERYTHING, especially for helping me fix some absent Frost*ies' faces to the wall while the band were soundchecking. Roger, Gonzo, Landslug and Brom, you were there with us in paper/ink form. Next time, be there for real, OK? ;)
Cheers, everyone!

Aye! ...Aye... Get so lonely when she's not there...
Quote from: "Ash"then had a nightmare on the sth circular.
It wasn't any better on the North Circular either. We walked through the doors at spot on 8.
Sorry we didn't manage any pre gig drinkage.
Just to be a little geeky for a moment... I noticed this at the gig, it's the curse of so called perfect pitch.. did anyone notice they have tuned down a half step? Why is that?
I think it's so they can sing more comfortably and don't have to trap their nads in order to reach Dec's pitches on the songs that feature the good man.

Boring? It was highly interesting and educational......Will watch out for you on Stargazing with the imposter Cox :)

Mikey! I do apologize for not keeping my promise. It was a lot of talking to people, and then some band interrupted us. ;) Got a bit busy. Drinks on me next time, because I'll fly over again.

Great meeting you ES, although I think I'd gone a bit deaf by this point. Sorry you didn't make it to the curry house, you were sorely missed.
RH, thanks for the lift, not sure how its my fault your Sat Nav is useless ;)
To all the other Frosties* who contributed to a great night and especially the band, thanks for your time afterwards as well
A huge
thank you Purple falling into Mercury
Great gig, couldn't see a thing but I'm sure it was
Lovely to see soooooooooo many Frost*ies and have a quick chat with some of you. I can't believe I came home with Frost*ie biscuits!
I've put the few remaining AGM t-shirts on The Merch Desk shop (//http://www.themerchdesk.com/shop) if anyone didn't get one and wants one.
Lastly, thanks to L33vey for the Crabbies :D
@T.A. It wouldn't have been Craig's dad as he is no longer with us.
And of course, excellent work with the merch desk as usual Nellie!

Doesn't stop Nathan having a good old gurn though :D

Ah ... will amend my post. Any idea who then? I suspect that it was someone (along with partner) who had come to the gig to see him play in particular, rather than Frost*, as they had seemed to be having a nice chat after the gig, as well as exchanging hugs.
And of course, the obvious point missing from my Lordoftheringslength post was
0. Nellie, without whose tireless work we'd have been without our t-shirts, biscuits (none ever made its way to me :( ), and much, much affection. What a lovely person you are ... will upload my picture of you soon ... ;)

No way, how could you possibly notice that? I would pay good money for those skills! To me all pitch is relative.
I would imagine that mouse is right. Some of those parts Dec sang are ridiculous. I really struggle singing that "now you finally know what it means" part in wonderland. Doesn't stop me trying though, when no-one is around.

I don't know, it just developed over time. It also helps to have heard the songs a thousand times, notice the difference in tone when the pitch is lower etc.
And yes, that's a good reason. I guess that's why we didn't get Toys.
Played the video to Cameron and the first thing he said is theve lowered the key of the tracks, and hes only 13!
I didn't notice though cos im not gifted with such talents although i can tell when my guitars out of tune!
To repeat what Nells said, it sounded like a good gig, but I was unable to get anywhere near the room, so had to spend the gig sitting at the back of the bar :x
Nevertheless, it was lovely to see so many Frost*ies and had a good old laugh at the post-gig curry. :)
Actually, to clarify, I wasn't literally laughing at the curry. I'm sure you know what I mean....
Quote from: "Dena"Actually, to clarify, I wasn't literally laughing at the curry. I'm sure you know what I mean....
Iv'e seen stranger things happen at a Frost* gig Dena .....
I saw you sitting in the back room with a resigned look on your face re the visibility issue and I was feeling pretty much the same way, which IS unusual for me at a Frost* gig. I don't generally have problems getting a good vantage point despite my average height (for a prog fan ;) ) but I had to throw in the towel this time! And Mrs S is a petite 4'10" so she had no chance from the outset
But as others have said - take the evening as a whole and it was one to remember with a grin :D
It is a shame that the layout of The Peel does this when it's full. I guess the only answer is to limit the numbers to 200 or so...but even then the low stage will still leave people unable to see that well. Plus I guess this would adjust the financials a bit.
I am currently having my usual pangs of guilt that follow most gigs where people have cause to complain about being unable to see well (or at all).
I have said it before and I'll repeat it here...I know I'm a big chap and I do bear this in mind when choosing where to stand. I never intentionally stand in front of people - so I don't "push in" or deliberately move in front of people who are already in place. I try to get there early, get my "to-one-side" spot and stay put. So if you ended-up behind me, that is exactly what happened, I didn't do it to you on purpose.
Getting there early and "playing the queue" well, usually enables me to get my much shorter wife and daughter close to or even at the front, but rather than make for the centre of the stage I always steer us to one side or the other.
I like to stand with my shorter companions because a) I like to enjoy the gig with them (not unreasonable in my opinion) and b) this protects them from the bumping/jostling they would endure otherwise (case in point; I let a chap stand in front of me for the last songs on Friday and all he did was lean on Mrs P and bump her with his elbows - he was obviously enjoying himself but Mrs P consequently wasn't so much).
So, once again, sorry if I was in your way on Friday night. I hope you can see from the above that this is not because I am a thoughtless basket....
I also hope that the video clips that are emerging can help to offset some of the disappointment for the "other-roomers". :)
That's us back home in Scotland again and just catching up on the posts. What a great night! :D It was more like having 4 ridiculously talented musos just having a laugh and playing some songs in your front room than some deadly serious prog gig - and much the better for it.
Pedro - thanks for capturing Don't You Want Me. Definitely one of the highlights of the night.
Nice to catch up with many of you again, even if only briefly, and great to say hi to some Frost*ies I'd not met before (e.g. Geetar).
Really enjoyed hearing some tracks live for the first time (No Me No You and Saline). Anorak question - was that the UK live premiere for No Me No You? I know it was played at RosFest but I'm not sure it's been played this side of the pond. Anyway, it rawked! :P
Roll on the next gigs.
Quote from: "E.S."Just to be a little geeky for a moment... I noticed this at the gig, it's the curse of so called perfect pitch.. did anyone notice they have tuned down a half step? Why is that?
It's a voice preservation thing. I (for better of for worse) don't record stuff with the thought of how to do it live, ergo I blat it at maximum capacity on the records so i can the best out of myself. Dropping the set a semitone means I can largely replicate the album repeatedly should the situation arise.
You'll find the same happens at an It Bites gig. ;)

Nothing against Twang the absolutely superb job he's done at The Peel, but I don't think we can play there again. We were dying on stage from the heat and I could see everybody fanning themselves in the first 3 rows so God knows how it must have been at the back. If Twang decides to leave The Peel and take up residence at a bigger gig I will be delighted to join him on opening night. Sad to say I think we've outgrown The Peel. And I say that with the

Thank you mate. I did say to Craig (who shares your view) today that were we to tour for a fortnight, we'd be world class, alas the financials currently prevent us from doing so (being a touring musician in a fringe genre music band these days is not the route to millionaire-dom that it used to be ;) ), however I don't rule that out when the new album's ready. :D :D

I don't think anyones implying that you are, merely the layout of the Peel leaves little to be desired for such a gig.
You pays your money and takes your choice.
We arrived at bang on 8 and chose to stand at the back, others arrived after us and barged their way through.
.....Now if they played at the Picturedrome, for example........goes off on a dream

Neal Morse referred to doing the same on one "making of" DVD...in that he still had to tweak some samples. Did the Fantom and does the Kronos take care of that at the push of a button or do you have to factor it in when programming?
Plus, without the drop we wouldn't have had that "I'd better tune the bass down" Frost* Report moment from JJ at Summer's End. :) I must admit, from the punter's perspective, I remembered thinking when JJ walked out; "Jeez, these guys are paranoid about their instruments drifting out of tune"....funny the impressions that punters can get about what is really going on. :)
Quote from: "D S"Nice to catch up with many of you again, even if only briefly
Same here. Lovely to see you all too, though we had to leave early (Mrs G not in the best of shape that night - kids had been unwell at home previous day too).
Pedro - you are ALWAYS considerate of others: please stop feeling so guilty about being over 4 metres tall.
And the semitone down thing- in the US, it's done to do the "half-step down" for loads of live. For blues guitar especially, strung with 10's or 11's, it gets a better feel, sound and reliability over a whole night's playing and doesn't kill your hands. The vocalist gets an easier ride too, but that's just a bonus. Listen to a bunch of SRV, John Mayer and a whole heapin' mess of Nashville-centric music live to see how pervasive it is.
It does, however, "heavy" the music up a bit, so maybe that's a part of why the sound was a bit mashy; plus, my ears were in compression for a lot of the main set.
Anyway, sorry to have sloped off, but next year we'll likely be in better shape. I'd just like to put in a plea for a screen in the bar for next year, if that's even a remote possibility. it'd be a great boon ( maybe even a currant boon ?).
You (both band and Frosties) are truly a lovely bunch.

Pangs of guilt totally unfounded matey - it cheered me up no end when I walked in to the room and saw you in your glorious pig-tails! :D
No, the problem was deffo at the back - my missus was getting bounced around and stood on by the steady stream of beer heads on route to and from the bar, most of whom decided it was their rightful place to barge through and stand right in front of her. Not a great experience for a prog first-timer! Thanks to everyone who shot video footage though - I'm having a very enjoyable time watching the Tw*ts in Hats right now!

"But what really makes my night is when someone who I haven't met before comes up to me, asks if I'm James (I am), and tells me he likes it so much he's stayed up one night reading all the entries. Hits on the page are one thing, and I've been getting a few of those, but they don't tell you whether someone actually likes it or if they just read the first three paragraphs and give up when I still haven't made it to the gig. So, thanks Adam, you made my night!"
You're welcome - and 'twas true. And I heartily recommend it to all other Frosties (although I suspect most of them have read it already). BTW - you weren't at a Divine Comedy gig back in around 91/92 opposite St Pancras station in what felt like a village hall once were you??

Ahh, would that I were... no, I didn't catch them until 1997, sadly. But I was glad to have seen a couple of Short Album About Love-era gigs, including the most incredible gig at the Festival Hall with full symphony orchestra...
Those were the days!

I was talking to Twang after the gig and he touched upon the possibility of another venue in central London (without a silly curfew). If that happens, that would be a truly joyous thing to behold.
Pedders - I can only echo what everyone else has said. The problem wasn't with the people there, more the layout of the venue and the sheer numbers. I attempted to get in but I was going nowhere so had to give up :( I only wish that everyone at gigs were as thoughtful and considerate as you!
Yeah, shut up, Pedders. You have nothing to worry about. :) In fact, the only thing you would have to worry about with those pig tails is being mistaken for Nick Beggs. ;)

The Peel is ace and will forever be ace, but it is a small venue. I think the interest in last Friday's gig is a good indicator that Frost* have grown bigger than they were when
EIMA was released and now need to stand in bigger shoes, so to speak. So, sell out gig at the Hammy Odeon next, then? :D

I'd much rather see a band having a genuinely good time playing live being relaxed and at ease with mistakes than a tense, note for note exact reproduction of an album. That sense of fun is infectious and gets us lot in the audience all bouncy and grinny which is then, hopefully, transferred back to the band and so on. But, if you want to tour for two weeks, I won't try and stop you! I'll see you down the front at as many as I can manage. 8-)
Touring for two weeks!!Ha!ha!i better start saving then ;) ,seriously another gig to split up the 12 months of 2012 would be brilliant, until the next Xmas AGM of course!!Will have to go somewhere sunny first,to acclimatise for the heat in the Peel though..!

Word Mouse.
I think the Peel has been fantastic on past experience for preserving that intimate atmosphere which blurs the boundary between the band and the audience, it's nice to feel that we're, as an audience, totally involved with the night's entertainment, even if we aren't the ones doing the hard work on stage. And going to bigger venues would possibly compromise that, but I've always felt that the CRS venue in Rotherham, for example, keeps the good vibes flowin' whilst also not being a total sweat-fest. At the end of the day it's all about numbers innit? And a central enough location so as to allow maximum bob audience-wise.
Just wow...
That gig was fantastic :) Totally made by the post-gig curry, too (thanks in no small part to James, Round of applause to you, sir!)
REALLY gutted I missed the entire TiH's set due to travel delays. We set off at 10 that morning and only managed to stop travelling ten minutes before frost* actually got on, but it was entirely worth it to put some faces to names and have a damn good night.
I watched Pedro's 'Don't you Want Me' video and loved it. Really hope they do something like that again next time, really sucks that I didn't see it, I do so love the traditional Frost* shenanigans :)
Also, thanks everyone who talked to me and MrsDrBlowThingsUp, you made us feel really welcome! And sorry to all the people I never got a chance to annoy, I promise I'll find you next time ;P

Ahh - yes...great gig. Was there myself. I just thought it was a shame he got pissed during the interval.
Quote from: "sawtooth"Quote from: "Mouse"The Peel is ace and will forever be ace, but it is a small venue. I think the interest in last Friday's gig is a good indicator that Frost* have grown bigger than they were when EIMA was released and now need to stand in bigger shoes, so to speak. So, sell out gig at the Hammy Odeon next, then? :D
Now I must admit that the Robin in Bilston would be my venue of choice. Central, great venue, etc, etc...
Part 2 of my epic review is available now...
Maybe tomorrow I can get some sleep!

Just read this (well, what else does one do when sat up in bed at 6:15am?) and Mrs Hippo had to demand what on earth was making me giggle so much.
It's a masterpiece, Mr H!
For me, this (//http://youtu.be/ODQ5cpI8T8A) summed up what the evening was all about.

Oh, that was very good. I'm going to have to link that from the blog now.
Lovely job on the gig report, James, but I have one major quibble :x
Whatever that stuff was that the restauranteur brought to soothe our financially-addled nerves at 01:50 on that Saturday morning, it most assuredly was not whisky. I know that's what he said it was, but ... ugh!
Seriously though, you don't think for a minute that we're going to appoint anyone else to be Curry Commander next time, do you? Apart from the minor issue of the bill, everything else went so swimmingly well (even if mine was one of the "oops, quick, we've forgotten someone's main"), your appointment is for life ...

Ha, well - whatever it was it was sort of vaguely alcoholic, that was as much as I could discern at that time of the morning! :D

'James the Curry Commander'. It's got a ring to it, has that.
Fab review James, it filled in the gaps in the bits I missed, and bought back the happy memories of the bits I saw. Top Banana!

:)
Belatedly and certainly not up to the standard of RiK's photos (my lens had come back from repair that day and I hadn't had time to calibrate the AF fine tune, which was off a bit, plus it was too dim in The Peel for a superzoom), here are a small selection of the pictures I took last Friday:
//http://www.flickr.com/photos/markmccaughrean/sets/72157628529716947/
A band, the four blokes in it, and a certain well-known female associate playing it coy with an AGM t-shirt ... :D
And for completeness and because I finally got around to creating a flickr account to share these pictures, I've also uploaded my Arena @ Zoetermeer pictures from last month there, at:

(oops; edited, as I had the same URL as for Frost* in ... :( )
Shows what the same camera and lens can do when there's a bit more light ;)
They,re great pics,well done ;)
That's a beautiful shot of Nellie :)
Ditto!
Great pics TA!
