Frost* are very pleased to announce that Nick D'Virgilio will be
joining them for their first American appearance at RoSFest on May 2nd
2009. Replacing original drummer, Andy Edwards, Nick brings a wealth
of experience and talent to an extremely challenging role. Nick first
met Frost* when the band supported Spock's Beard on their European
dates during summer 2008.
Jem Godfrey said "I'm really thrilled that Nick has been mad...sorry,
brave...sorry, kind enough to become an honourary Frostie for one of
our most eagerly anticipated performances. We're already working on it
and I think it's going to be a belter of a show. We can't wait."
Nick D'Virgilio said "WHOO HOOO!!! I get to be a Frostie for a day!"
"Seriously, after Spock's and Frost toured I knew they were a great
band with great music. But I was never really able to get into the
music that deeply on tour because I was always getting ready for the
Spock's set while they were on stage. Then recently I was asked to sit
in for the Rosfest show. I said yes immediately and then started really
listening closely to the CD's. Man-o-man do I have my work cut out for
me. In a great way. I am very excitied to be a part of this gig and
thank you FROST for having me along."
Bloody hell Jem !! :D
Blimey!!! :D :D :D :D :D
this will be a busy thread...
thanks for update Jem :)
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!
Great news Jem, I like! :D
What beer does he drink? :D
I bet Nick will do a fantastic job, he is a fine drummer and seems to be mad enough to fit right in. :D :D
He's a great drummer.. picking him up for the gig is quite a catch!
I'm curious about the logistics of transatlantic rehearsals.. will there be a few between now & the show, or one big flurry of them just beforehand?
Wow! What a choice for a one-night-stand!
That will be totally awesome.
No way we can get there so we are expecting much reciprocity on the YouTube front from our stateside brethren (and sistren of course, if there are any?).
Hmm....rehearsals....meet halfway? ;)
  Couldn't be much better, could it?. ...... well the gig could have been in Sweden or somewhere near ;)
RosFest attendees: You lucky, lucky bastards.
Awesome. Someone please tape it. :D

That would be nice, last years made it to Dime.
schweeet!
I will have my video camera there!
So will I! ;)

So very pleased about all of this. Not only does Nick have the chops, he can sing a lot of that nutcracker stuff that causes Dec such fits. Ooo! They'll be able to do Falling Down! And recording the RosFest show for a live album? Is that for certain, Mr, Jem? Feel free to say yes.
OHNOES!!!!
This news is WAY too awesome. I've loved Nick as a drummer ever since I started playing the drums. Later on I discovered he is an AMAZING singer too.
This is really, really exciting. I would freak out if Frost* were to release some sort of recording of this gig.
Most importantly whats his favourite biscuit?

Exactly!! Now we are really getting to it!!! :D
Quote from: "RacingHippo"RosFest attendees: You lucky, lucky bastards.
What he said! :D
And there I was stupidly thinking that it was us, this side of the pond that got all the excitement.
Quote from: "RacingHippo"RosFest attendees: You lucky, lucky bastards.
Couldn't put it any better. :D
...but Spock's Beard use Mellotrons - this could get ugly! ;)
Seriously, what a great coup for Frost*. Nick is a brilliant drummer and a great guy. He'll just have to get used to saying biscuits and not cookies for the day.
Is Nick expected to learn the oboe solo or has JM got that to himself now?
Frost*ibus to the States, anyone?!
:D

Don't know about a Frost*ibus, perhaps a Frost*i747. So long as someone else is paying of course......

I don't want to start getting my hopes up too much, but at this point in time my schedule has me in the USA sometime in May... but exactly when in May has not been worked out. :?
omg, he is awesome.... take a look at this: //http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSk6DyjW1tM especially from 2:20
Blimey! That was quick with the new publicity shots.......

All joking aside I'd be very interested to hear Andy's opinion on Nick as a drummer.....Andy?
You did the thing right hey Jem?! Awesome! I hope it gets recorded too (View from the Cube), I would buy that so quickly!
Assuming D'Virgilio isn't the 'permanent' replacement, jeez, the 'new new guy' has some boots to fill!
Does this mean that the Frost* DVD will have to be called "01001111"?

That or Frost* and Snow?
Well Mr. D himself should pop in here for his biscuit christening before the gig
then shall he?

It would be the polite thing to do. I'll have the kettle on ready.
OMG you lucky lucky bastards that are going to be at Rosfest. I so wish I could go and photograph this momentous occasion
And Nick just re-recorded and released the entire "Lamb" album. Oh, how I'd love a peek at that 2 hour set list.
I have to get my tickets yet!!!! oh sh#t!!!
and I won't be able to go because I'll probably be in Copenhagen with my Lego robotics team. Mixed emotions - little bit of :D , little bit of
Quote from: "catherine"... Lego robotics team...
Wassat then ?
Sounds beyond cool ... :D
OMG, this is like porn for my ears. Now all I need to hear is that they'll be coming out here to L.A. and I'll be able to die a happy man.
- Wheggi
I can't imagine the band coming all the way across the pond for one gig and sure hope they find other venues to play!!!
JJ suggested they'd be up for it if there were promoters interested in booking them, though Nick would need to keep his schedule clear to accommodate any extra dates. I'd love to see them at a club, though I hear there are no bad seats at the Keswick.
Surrounded - Since you're so close, can I assume you'll be attending RoSFest?
This is the best piece of news I've heard in a long, long while! Fan-bloody-tastic! :D
Gonzo: I wish I could attend but it's a long drive, I'd need accomodations and I have family responsibilites which will probably prevent it.
As far as promoters go, I wish I knew a few (actually one does come to mind (//http://www.njproghouse.com/history.html)) who might be interested. I can see the band filling a small theater or club once or twice in the Tri-State area if the shows were advertised properly! Otherwise, I guess they'd have to jump on someone else's bill so as not to have a turnout such as the Eruopean gigs of the DVD from EIMA. I sure wish they'd have accepted Portnoy's invite to join Dream Theater!!! :(
Hey Jem....Nick knows Jim - the guy who runs the above link!!! And Jim did a terrific job hosting Neal Morse when he was promoting Testimony!! I was there.
That's a splendid idea, actually. Nick could probably get the band booked for a string of shows. Put the new guy to work! =)
Alas, work and family commitments means that this is a 1 show splash and dash for me. Sorry about that.
Quote from: "Jem"Alas, work and family commitments means that this is a 1 show splash and dash for me. Sorry about that.
ACK!!! Oh well...I took the liberty of shooting a note to Jim Robinson. IF he writes you Jem, tell 'im the note came from an overzealous forum noobie who meant well.
...Sweet merciful crap!(//http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y142/Munchymeow/gifs/ffxi_253649_l.gif)
I was already planning on going to this, being how its just a state to the West of me here in lovely New Jersey - But, wow! I'm a big SB fan, and subsequently a NDV fan....this is going to be an epic gig!
As for having chops, no doubt he has them - I remember he sat in with Fates Warning at a show near me, and tore it up! Also, I was lucky enough to meet him, and he's a totally down to Earth chap :)
You couldn't have picked a better sit-in Frostie, Jem, well met!!!
I also saw NDV sitting in with Fates Warning several years ago, so this will be the second time I've seen a band with NDV on drums. Oddly, I've yet to see Spock's Beard.
Nick is the king of cowbell hitting, the re-founder of the lost art of playing the cowbell. Praise him for the way he masters the holy metal!!! :)

Yep, looks like he should fit in well with the rest of Frost*. Initially I was a little concerned that he might be too sensible, but I see I needn't have worried! ;)

It's a joke, or more accurately, a pun.
So we go from "cow" to "beef" to "Moo" to "herd" to "udderwise" etc.
This kind of thing happens in these parts so don't worry, Geetar was getting all "jerky".... :)
and you're not one to mince your words, Pedders, and no mis-steak. (You great chump...)
Thanks guy's, for a second i thought i offended someone without knowing. And i'm not a native speaker, so, some word jokes i don't get right away. I only know the one of the tomato that was slowed down. He replied :" oh..well....i'll ketchup"
Ba-dum-tish!! :D
What did the sea say to the beach?
Nothing, it just waved....
