Just out of curiosity, what songs would you be interested in hearing covered by the crew if you could choose?
Mine's a bit of an obscure one but, my pick for a song that i'd like to hear "Frost*ed" is - Flying Dutchman by Tori Amos (Might have to change the key though ;) )
I'd be interested to hear some of yours!
How about "One of our Submarines" by Thomas Dolby?
rendezvous 6:02 by U.K I think that would sound brill with a bit of frosting sprinkled on top of it.
Think I mentioned this once before but 'Keeping The Dream Alive' by Freiheit, possibly adjoined to Snowman.
South Side Of The Sky - Yes :D
new world man by rush?
Fanfare for the Common Man...?
Nah, that would never happen...
heh

You beat me to it :)
Jem, you KNOW you want to cover the first side of "Emerson, Lake and Powell."
If nothing else, "The Miracle" is BEGGING for the Frost* treatment.
Cheers!

More ELO!! Twilight would be cool!! :D
Black page 2, Frank Zappa, then, when they got it down, no.1.
Yours truly, 2095

Great shout! :)
I'd like to hear any song covered by Frost*
Tragedy, done in a Steps stylee.
Or RES by the Cardiacs.
Something from Queen. surely. Perhaps "Bicycle Race", "One Vision", "Play the Game" or some such choon.
Just came to mind, would love to hear Jem do a version of Africa by Toto!

Oh yes...
What about Frost in Space - Rick Wakeman?
Quote from: "danofmayz"Just came to mind, would love to hear Jem do a version of Africa by Toto!
I think I'd rather hear
Hydra or
St. George and the Dragon. 8-)
I don't know if Split Enz ever made much of a splash over there, but "One Step Ahead" (among others) would make a great Frost* song.

The Brothers Finn was it not?
Thought you were OZ not NZ anyway, aren't they foreigners to you? ;)
Foreigners? No, cousins at most. And if they are successful and talented, we count them as ours :)

Typical Ozian :D
Mind you we keep stealing Ozzies back from the Penitentiary :D

Is that why the NZ cricket team are foreigners then......?
But on topic, for once - Frost* need to cover Whole Again.
Maybe a bit too obvious but... Genesis - Behind The Lines.
Just because I totally love that tune these days. :D
i'd like to see Frost* do a version of Back in NYC- Genesis. It would interesting to see Jem's take on that one.
At an acoustic house concert, any cover is possible.....
:)
The JPod (my MP3 player) was bringing in a lot of UFO on shuffle mode last night as I walked home. Whilst I'm not sure the voices or JG or JM really suit Phil Mogg's vocal style, I did wonder what the Frost* musical machinations might make of "Love To Love" with its little circular keyboard riff, odd time signatures and widdlesome Michael Schenker guitar moments.
I have to confess a certain passionate fascination with that song that is over-proportioned to its general existence, i.e. it's a great, epic song but whilst I'd say it's not a sure-fire 1000% classic top-ten of all time song on a world scale, I think nevertheless that it's pretty insanely amazing. This is largely because when I was first listening to the LP as a youthful 14 year old the final guitar solo and very heavy bit which kicks in as Mogg sings "I've tried and I need you to staaaaaaaay" collided one evening in my mind at the very same moment with one of those mind blowing teenage moments of simultaneous wonder and terror at the life, the universe and everything, and it knocked me for six. I still get shivers down my spine when I hear it as a result, and last night as I walked home in the dark evening with the snow falling I nearly passed out at that moment with the sheer intensity of it all.
Anyway, back on track, I'd really like to hear whatever Frost* feel like covering. I'd never have thought of doing "Here Is The News" for example, so there's a nice element of surprise to some cover versions that is often very cool.

TPE - EIMA - 8 mins - Toto or What :D
JimD........Love to Love is an awesome track...by an awesome band.Their live version off of Strangers in the Night is simply stunning and i see where your coming from with the "odd time signiture" thing.I think maybe a Dream Theater track may be more up their street....say Breaking All Illusions which i feel has everything that Frost excel in as well as Dream Theater
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip2HCYt8YiA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip2HCYt8YiA)
Simon & Garfunkel's Scarborough Fair
and
Jimmy Eat World's Disintegration (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X7En4IMfa8)
Both would be very very different if transposed to a Frost* wave and I think they could be glorious.
AND HALL & OATES "YOU MAKE MY DREAMS COME TRUE".
Including video.

Genius idea!
I can't go for that ;D
heh can't
My daughter wants to hear Frost* do "Flash's Theme" ;D
Frost* --aah aahh--
Saviours of the proggiverse!
I could totally hear Gabriel's Red Rain with Mitchell taking front on the Vox.
Dayum ! I'm usually very wary of Queen covers (because of the vocals, sounds really hard to sing properly without making it sound like a parody / mimic) but why not !
Great choice btw! What a song.
Frost* --aah aahh--
They'll save every one of us!
Only Doctor Trapezium Artist, formerly at ESO, has provided any explanation...
Jem, Jem, I love you, but we only have 14 hours to save the earth!
manon, if I may recommend this fine cover of Killer Queen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o57xEVHrYvE)
You may also enjoy his album Thirteen Eight.
He's talented, can't deny it.
But nope nope nope nope one does not simply cover Queen.
I know Jem has mentioned in the past he is a fan of the Cardiacs, and indeed would've contributed something to the excellent 'Leader of The Starry Skies' compilation* had he known of it's existence (and if memory serves had offered his services should they do a 'Vol.2').
Therefore would like to hear something completely absurd, like 'Dog like Sparky'!!!
*Leader of the Starry Skies: A Tribute To Tim Smith, Songbook 1 is a compilation album featuring cover versions of songs by Tim Smith (the songwriter behind Cardiacs, The Sea Nymphs, Spratleys Japs and Panixphere). It was released on CD on 13 December 2010 on the Believers Roast label (via Genepool distribution). The release date for download, via iTunes, is 20 December 2010.
All contributing artists and bands have either stated a strong Cardiacs influence in their music, profess sincere admiration for Smith's work, or feature at least one person who has at some time been involved with Cardiacs. Contributors to the project include The Magic Numbers, Robert White of The Milk and Honey Band with Andy Partridge (XTC), Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree, Katharine Blake of Mediaeval Baebes, psychedelic metal band Oceansize, Julianne Regan of All About Eve, 1990's Britpop band Ultrasound (who reunited especially to record their cover version), Jason Pegg of Clearlake and no less than five current or former Cardiacs members - former keyboard player William D. Drake, former drummer and keyboard player Mark Cawthra, former guitarist Christian Hayes (under the project name of mikrokosmos), current guitarist Kavus Torabi (with his Knifeworld project) and former drummer Peter Tagg (with The Trudy).
The album was recorded as a response to Tim Smith's hospitalisation in 2008 (following a combined heart attack and stroke in London) was released in order to raise funds for his ongoing care and recovery. All profits from the album sales go directly to help Tim Smith. A bonus disc, called A Loyal Companion, was free with CD preorders.

One particular individual did not simply cover, erm, Finefare for the Keema Nan...
> Keema Nan
Is that some sort of curry dish?

heh
I heard "No Surrender" by The Outfield the other day and thought, although not well known, it would be cool to hear JM do that one for the next nostalgia ep.

Except for that there Toehider
He's allowed to, as he's as talented as Freddie + Brian.
Yep, I said that.
Cover a song written by a Frost*ie.. We did one of his!! ;D
I feel like the Genesis' Firth of Fifth is a no-brainer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD5engyVXe0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD5engyVXe0)
Of course, he's done an ELO cover, and then an ELP cover. Sounds like ELQ is next, whoever they are!
I vaguely recall he's done a Genesis song. Carpet crawlers? I vaguely recall a Frost* report
Yes there were a few, I was listening to some of the old Frost* reports for my Frost*ology and they were mentioned.
Come on Godfrey, stump them up😀

I'm pretty sure there was a Frost* Report with footage before a gig with Jem at a piano in an empty bar, playing the intro to Firth of Fifth....

Yup! 8)
I think it was filmed during some dates in continental Europe and I recall JM & TBE playing the Police's Message in a Bottle in the same video, if that helps...

Message in a bottle is on the Bielefeld video, which I think was tour report 2. The piano track after that isn't the Firth of Fifth. Onwards
Obviously my memory is playing tricks - it's me age, doctor! ;)
