Gigs / May I humbly suggest ...
September 02, 2010, 03:11:52 PM
Maybe I'm missing something glaringly obvious here ... but I was looking to confirm the various gig dates to work out which ones I was going to attend, and it took a lot of searching.

We need a gig announcement sticky or a dedicated page with dates of up coming gigs on, something that cant fall off the front page, and/or be defaced by our goodselves.

... how would a newbie fare in trying to find gig dates ?

Obviously if I am giving this a "man look" (as my wife would describe it) ... I appologise in advance for being an idiot.

Any Other Business / Hey Swingers ..

Here's a bit o' fun ... :D

Classic tracks subjected to time stretching to produce swing versions of songs ..

Check out Sweet Child of Mine / Enter Sandman / Everybreath you take

Uses something called "Tristan's Swinger .. The Swinger is a bit of python code that takes any song and makes it swing.  It does this be taking each beat and time-stretching the first half of each beat while time-shrinking the second half" .. all that means nothing to me, but I'm sure the techheads here will understand it.

Ask Frost* / Christmas Songs ,,,
December 10, 2009, 10:15:50 AM
Dear Mr Thunder Moose

Given the radio waves are full of Christmas songs, I was thinking over a sage bit of advice my old man gave me .. he said if you wanna be rich write a great christmas hit as it gets played over and over and over again each year ..

It occurs to me, you must have had a crack at writing a Christmas choon for a starlet or two ? .. got anythin you can share with us festive frosties ?

If not, whats your festive song of choice ...

ELP/Greg Lake (I believe in father christmas), Slade (merry christmas everybody), Pogues (Fairy tale in New York) or SirCliff (Mistletoe and Wine)  :D

Well ... not just guitarists I guess, but what's your best recommendation for a compressor pedal.

I'm in love with Keeley pedals, but they're fearsomely expensive ... I have my eye on the MXR Dyna Comp or the MXR Super Comp..

But what I would love to know is what you use and whether you'd recommend it.

Thanks in advance

Here's a web site for you ....

http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20 ... _satan.htm

I cant tell if it's a spoof or for real ... whatever, I find it pretty funny, it's even better if you have sound.

But it now confirms what I thought ... forget Robert Johnson .. Jem sold his soul to the devil in return for his chops and song writing skills .. we all know this to be true as Jem endorses the Devilish Horned Salute !!

Jacqueline and her husband Mark went for counselling after 25 years of marriage.

When asked what the problem was, Jacqueline went into a passionate, painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 25 years they had been married.

She mentioned neglect, lack of intimacy, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, a whole list of unmet needs she had endured over the course of their marriage.

Finally the therapist got up, walked around the desk and, asking Jacqueline to stand, he unbuttoned her blouse, embraced her, and kissed her passionately as her husband watched with a raised eyebrow.

Jacqueline shut up, buttoned up her blouse and quietly sat down as though in a daze.

The therapist turned to Mark and said, "this is what your wife needs at least three times a week.  Can you do this?"

Mark thought for a moment and replied, 'Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I rehearse with the band."

Frost* / EIMA - Whats your favourite track ?
November 17, 2008, 12:53:59 PM
I'm quite a few listens in now ... the delivery boy was good to me.  ;)

Pocket Sun and Toys have almost instantly found their way into my sub conscious (and my heart), with Saline and Dear Dead Days just behind, but the title track is immense.

You can accuse me of being sycophantic (I am), but I don't think there's a bad song on the album.

If I were to pick a favourite, at the moment it would be Experiments .. I love the Lord of Rock guitar solo (can't get the image of Jem and the circuit bent speaker out of my mind), and the finish to the song is just immense, maybe it's just my familiarity with EIMA though as I've had the gig CD since the London show in the summer.

Congratulations to Jem, JM, JJJ, Dec and Andy ... I rather like it, bloody marvelous stuff !

... despite the missing inside leg measurements from the booklet !

Now I just need to find some time to sit and watch the DVD disc.
