Post by: gr8gonzo on January 24, 2017, 02:09:31 AM

The diff?

* remastered

* 2CD set (no dvd)

* "Falling Down" has fallen off

* triangle solo added to "The Dividing Line"(just kidding. have to save some things for the 5.1. mix. just kidding. there's no 5.1. Wilson is booked until 2030. just kidding. he doesn't take reservations, besides the nuclear winter is nigh and we'll only be able to play 8-track tapes in the wasteland. just kidding. probably.)

Minor note: The performance actually occurred 2nd May, 2009 ( file 5th February under #alternativefacts ;) )

I've just realised - that'll be the UK / US date thing again.
2nd May 2009 = 02/05/09 in UK and 05/02/09 in US - and vice versa.

For most of us here, I suspect the issue will be is it worth buying again?  The original sounded pretty good to these ears and if it is just a case of remastered = louder, think I'll pass...

It's probably been done in time for the Cruise. Is Nellie going, with a couple of big suitcases?

Noooooo, one of my faves!

They're all ones of my faves... But it's one of my favourite faves!

Lots of folk asking for it but we didn't want to repress it as 3 discs in a clunky jewel case. Now is as good a time as any :-)

If you don't have one of the 500 original copies, then definitely..

I've just looked and "Falling Down" isn't on the Bandcamp release, either

I never noticed FD wasn't on the Bandcamp version. I haven't heard Jem explain why, but I bet if you ask him, there'll be four reasons, FOUR REASONS... :)

Thanks for fixing the date, Nellie! You're the best.

Naa, I bought Million Town twice, and guess what it was great both times. :) But based on that experience and given there's a track missing, I don't think I'll be wanting to improve on what's already awesome. If it sells some copies to folks who never got the original and raises awareness of the awesomeness of Frost, then all power to it. :)

I originally bought MTown from iTunes and loved it so much I had to get the CD. Well, when the 2013 remix was released on Bandcamp, I couldn't help myself, and I'm so glad I got it because the mix has a vinyl LP-like warmth I love. Absolutely worth it. I will likely buy the TPE remix for TDL alone on the chance I may have a similar experience.

Thank you. Personally I think it's a much better version of TDL, most of all because I'm not now in the absolute depths of depression. Depression hampers mixing I now know.

Not to put a downer on it or anything.. ;)

It's still my fave Frost track for the sheer mania of it. I just wish it was doable live...

Perhaps if we expand to a 9 piece...

:o
I've seen the current line-up perform TDL at least 3 times and it was always brilliant! Yes, there were a couple of compromises to play it live but nothing to its detriment.

Just do it - you know you want to!  ;D

We've put it back out as people kept emailing me saying they wanted to buy it so I figured I'd tweak TDL at the same time. The RoSFest gig is exactly the same as I don't have the multitrack master anymore so if you already have the album, you're not missing anything other than the TDL mix.

Falling Down was dropped as I wanted the gig to be as authentic as possible. Anybody who was at the show will remember the backing vocals not being quite as in tune as they appear on the album version.  ???

ONE reason.  ;D

It's the same reason that our version of No Me No You that we did at that gig never saw the light of day either.

I like warts'n'all. Like the bit at the beginning of Snowman. I suppose you want a polished project to show off the band though. Or were they really that bad?

Any plans to accommodate those who don't have the readies to splash for a second full copy but would like to hear the new TDL?

Plus, another video of TDL being amazing as a four piece...

I came home from being out with the camera all day today, totally not expecting to see that padded envelope behind the door... :) So... I haven't listened to the rest yet, but I had to give The Dividing Line a whirl, mainly because I was kinda dreading my favourite Frost track being changed from what I thought to be perfect to, well, less than. I needn't have worried. Fantastic. Bloody fantastic production.

There was some video of Jem and myself recording drums for The Dividing Line up at Kidderminster College...

I think the Dividing Line is my favourite Frost track, it does everything all in one track...

Aw, so you guys DID do "No Me No You"? I was wondering why all of Milliontown hadn't been played on that live album, but now I know why.

I'd be willing to pay for the complete show, warts and all, just to hear it as it was heard that day. Heck, I'd pay for it even if it had overdubs and tweaks. I just love having complete shows.

No Me No You is quite a rare live song. I've seen the band live some 9 times but I can only remember hearing it once (at the Peel AGM gig).  Shame as I'd love to hear Milliontown live from start to finish sometime (hint)!  ;)
