As requested, this Stickie is intended to let people volunteer to receive, photograph and send on the lucky inflatable banana to the next person on the list.
The idea being to record the progress of the banana in photos showing you with the (inflated) banana, optionally including a local landmark in the photo.
There's also a suggestion of you signing the thing but I'd hope people do this sensibly (without puncturing it or using ink that might react badly with the material) and not offensively (drawing gender-related imagery!).
Names of those signed-up already...

If people also report the arrival/departure and post the pictures here we should be able to keep track.
Ok?

Hehe, great idea!
I'd like to know the size of the not-inflated banana, though, so that I could estimate shipping costs to whereever. But I guess that'll have to wait till all air is gone, right?
It'll be deflated for shipping and reinflated by each recipient, so may I suggest Lysol disinfecting wipes or somesuch be used? After all, I believe it was a well-traveled inflatable pig that started swine flu. :o
Send that thing over here to Florida!! Theres a Couple of us Frosties here! Im Game! :P

STAGE ONE BEGINS
Posted to Rogerg in the USA at 11am today.
Hes been disinfected with a wipe, not Rogerg obviously just in case anybody wondered, we use called steri 7 which kills any germs for around 30 days
It cost a staggering sum of only £1.80 to send him by Royal Mail and he should arrive in 3-5 working days.
It fitted ok in a roughly A3ish size jiffy bag if anybody wonders on size and costs or we could just do each continent in turn?
Pic is of the Humber Bridge which is roughly a 3/4 mile away from where i live. Had to doctor a pic though. The one we took was so dark you couldn't see the bridge in the background so i borrowed one from Google and did a cut and paste job!
(//http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/5806/5607874777f3c7164a7o.jpg) (//http://img31.imageshack.us/i/5607874777f3c7164a7o.jpg/)
RAWK the banana!!!
oops, that just sounds wrong, somehow.... 8-)
Yay! My dad designed the lighting scheme for that bridge :)
Post that to me also! I will take some photos all around the center of Rome... 8-)
I'm in. I'll could take it back to The Cube and hang around outside making obscene gestures with it until the new owners give Jem his house back
Would it be rude to harrass the new owners so they leave?
Define "rude" ;-)
I was thinking of something along the lines of the Amityville Horror.....with added bananas and garibaldis. Would that be over the top?
It would be less costly to ship within each country rather than making multiple trips across the ocean, but on the other hand, it's not really that expensive and how many inflatable bananas can claim so many transatlantic crossings? None others that I can think of. Bring on the Experiments With Massive Peel!

I like the idea that it flies back and forth across whatever seas and lands it will.

brilliant!! 8-)

That's a big HEH if ever I saw one!
I wanted to sign up to get the banana here to New Jersey, USA, but apparently Arizona's having nothing to do with it. They're afraid the banana will want to stay, bringing its tropical fruity friends over the border with it, stealing jobs from native US fruit.
Hmph. How do you like them apples?
Bung me on the list as well , if i'm not too late
Done....I have a feeling it will not be too late to get on this list for quite some time. :)
Experiments With Massive Peel 8-)
Genius!
Its gonna take quite a while to complete this trip if you reckon on at least a week at each venue.
Who can give it to Jem at the end?
I suppose you could say Jem will be on the receiving end of the big banana. :P
I was certain Mrs. Gonzo was going to roll her eyes upon hearing of the forum's plans for a giant traveling fruit, but when I finished explaining she responded, "Hmm. Where should we take it?" Yep. She's awesome. :D
If I may be a bit geeky for a sec, how about posting the Experiments with Massive Peel World Tour in tour format, such as date and city?
03 Jan Kingston upon Hull UK
XX Jan Plainfield, VT USA
XX Jan ?? France (sorry, David. I don't know where you are in France.)
XX Feb Tampa, FL USA
Is that too over the top (banana)?
Also, since he lives in reasonably close proximity, Jim offered to drive up to retrieve the banana from me. Is anyone opposed to us doing that?

Good work people.
I don't see the order of the list as being that important. I can't imagine any objection to people "optimising" the itinerary....so long as people know what's going on. :)
Since the banana if of the genus Musa, you could argue it's an Experiment in Musa Peel...
Quote from: "SmartUK"Since the banana if of the genus Musa, you could argue it's an Experiment in Musa Peel...

I'd be quite happy to accomodate the Banana for a spell Sheffield :)

Send it here please.

Yes, That was indeed quite brilliant!!! LMFAO!!
I would be pleased to have the traveling banana stop by Central California for a visit. Imagine how stunning it would be in front of a foreclosed property!
Hmm, with this list of participants, this will last forever...
Indeed, Jem may never get his banana.
Or just in time for the next Frost* gig. Handed over on stage. 8-)

Put me down for a flying banana visit as well...
Could it be arranged to visit (and be photographed at) some of the events of the year? RoSfest, Summer's End, Royal wedding etc?
Count me in....I could send it somewhere exotic........Leeds, Cumbernauld, Tamworth, Camden
I'm in Pedders. Jib can send it to me, or I can send it to him :-)
Taking its time to get from me to rogerg. Post office reckoned 3 to 5 working days.
Would be ironic if it went astray on the first leg!
yep! I keep hoping it'll be here, but we didn't get mail today because our driveway had't been plowed yet. so maybe tomorrow!!
Damn pesky Yahoo bot is stalking me on the forum!
Does he want the banana sending to him, too?
Google and Yahoo bots now.
They are ganging up on me!

Quote from: "ich_bin_besser"Do we really wanna do this with all participants? It really will last forever...
By my count there's 29 on the list so it isn't really going to take that long is it ;)
I've created a Google Map and started by plonking Fogey on it.
Here it is. (//http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=208332667073892209306.00049a26909348753a6e2)
Does it make sense to do the internal US Mail hops in one go?
Two weeks per puddle-hop seems a lot....if we'd like to try to get this particular instance of banana to Rockfield?

I think I'm on it now! thanks, RH!
That map's rather awesome. 8-)
Ive enjoyed being plonked!
It may be an idea to send it to whoever on that side of the pond before it returns to Blighty again.
@Rog: if you agree, let me know the order and I'll tweak the first post.

Quote from: "catherine"Is it possible to draw lines on it so that we can follow The Path Of The Banana?
Brilliant idea!
And so it came to pass.
And we now know that the Path of The Banana*' is 3186.5 miles long so far
Next stage of the journey : France!
Rog, I sent you a pm with my adress on jan 03rd, did you get it?
yes, I do have David's address, but it has been suggested to perhaps alter the direction a bit, and send it, maybe to Gonzo and those south? should I do that and then it can go to David from there? (or other US'ians? I haven't reviewed the list lately...)
it likely won't leave here until early next week as it is, so there's a bit of time to decide.
Quote from: "rogerg"yes, I do have David's address, but it has been suggested to perhaps alter the direction a bit, and send it, maybe to Gonzo and those south? should I do that and then it can go to David from there? (or other US'ians? I haven't reviewed the list lately...)
This would make more sense indeed.
Think about this banana's carbon footprint, otherwise :D
Quote from: "David"Think about this banana's carbon footprint, otherwise :D
The carbon footprint of bananas:
80g CO2e each
480g CO2e per kilo
Bananas are a great food for anyone who cares about their carbon footprint. For just 80g of CO2e you get a whole lot of nutrition: 140 calories as well as stacks of vitamin C, vitamin B6, potassium and dietary fibre. All in all, a fantastic component of a low-carbon diet.
Bananas are good for just about everyone – athletes, tennis pros, people with high blood pressure, everyday cycle commuters in search of an energy top-up, or anyone wishing to chalk up their recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables per day. There are three main reasons that bananas have such small carbon footprints compared with the nourishment they provide:
• They are grown in natural sunlight, which means that no energy-intensive hot-housing is required.
• They keep well, so although they are often grown thousands of miles from the end consumer, they are transported by boats, which per kilo of freight transported emit only 1% as much CO2 as planes do.
• There is hardly any packaging, if any, because they provide their own. (You might sometimes see a bunch in a light plastic bag or wrapper, but this probably pays for itself carbon-wise by reducing the chance of customers ruining the fruit when they try to split a bunch.)
None of which is to say that bananas are too good to be true. Of the hundreds of banana varieties in existence, almost all the ones we get to eat are of the 'Cavendish' variety. The adoption of this monoculture in the pursuit of maximum, cheapest yields has been criticised for degrading land and requiring liberal use of pesticides and fungicides – sometimes at the expense of plantation workers. Furthermore, although land is dramatically better used for bananas than, say, beef in terms of nutrition per hectare, there are still parts of the world in which forests are being cleared for banana plantations.
That said, Fairtrade or organic bananas are widely available. Choose those and you are likely to be buying a food that is about as green as it gets – as long as you don't let them rot in your fruit bowl, that is. If you find yourself with bananas on the turn, they are great in cakes and smoothies.
Who else on the list is in the U.S. aside from rog, myself and Jim? I'll be transferring the banana to Jim directly so we can get a two Frost*ie photo op here, but where to from there?
Someone with some time on their hands could cross reference against the Frosties Worldwide Map (//http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=101173547266540536138.00044c0c347c63a48f658&ll=38.743892,-77.554657&spn=0.008351,0.013561&z=16). in fact would it not just make sense to add the "banana line" to the existing map??
Quote from: "rogerg"yes, I do have David's address, but it has been suggested to perhaps alter the direction a bit, and send it, maybe to Gonzo and those south? should I do that and then it can go to David from there? (or other US'ians? I haven't reviewed the list lately...)
it likely won't leave here until early next week as it is, so there's a bit of time to decide.
Other US'ians on the list that I've identified via their posts in this thread are "DwDunphy" in New Jersey and "castironchef" in Central California
Seems best to do USA/Canada then Europe and back to Blighty.
Otherwise by the time it gets back Jem will be doing articles in Sound On Sound about the new Fantom G22 Mark 2 with its new oscillating jojoba simulation viscous coupling chip and 99 TB Hard Drive. :D
Quote from: "Fogeyspasm"Seems best to do USA/Canada then Europe and back to Blighty.
Also, to keep shipping it backwards and forwards from Europe to USA/Canada, you should need to keep creating a new set of invoices with every leg of the journey, even with something that has a nominal value.
Ok, I've tweaked the list a bit to begin to collect the US Frost*ies together.
If I have missed anyone please let me know.
Quote from: "Againesis"in fact would it not just make sense to add the "banana line" to the existing map??
Ahh, but not everyone on the WWFM is gonig to be a recipient of The Banana*.
Conversely, it's possible that some recipients of The Banana* aren't on the WWFM, although they'll be first in line for a banana-slapping if they're not!
However, I do see your point about cross-referencing..... hmm.....
Quote from: "RacingHippo"Ahh, but not everyone on the WWFM is gonig to be a recipient of The Banana*.
Welll....no...but the banana line would only be linked between the lucky recipients.
Quote from: "RacingHippo"Conversely, it's possible that some recipients of The Banana* aren't on the WWFM
But they also aren't on the banana map yet!!! If they've got to add a pin they might as well do it on the main map and it means the vast majority (who are) simply need to add their photo and extend the line.
Quote from: "Againesis"Someone with some time on their hands could cross reference against the Frosties Worldwide Map (//http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=101173547266540536138.00044c0c347c63a48f658&ll=38.743892,-77.554657&spn=0.008351,0.013561&z=16).
Well, I haven't really got time on my hands, but it's good work-avoidance, so I've put the next few recipients on the Banana*map (//http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=208332667073892209306.00049a26909348753a6e2), but in grey.
This presented a New Challenge: Half the recipients aren't on the WWFmap!!
So I've done as best as I can.
Here are those who are missing/guessed at so far:
- Jim Takacs - placed with Gonzo, which is fair enough as the photo will feature you both.
- DwDunphy - Need location. I just went for "New Jersey"
- castironchef - Need location. Your profile says "Central California" so I found a place called Central, California, and put you in it.
- Dena - Plonked you in the middle of The Ding
- Brom - The WWFMap shows youi in Albuequerquerqueruqeuerue, which I'm sure isn't right. So I put you in Bromsgrove, which isn't right either but seemed appropriate.
- D S - Your location states "Darkest SW Scotland" so I've put you in such a place - St. Enoch Underground Station, Glasgow. Curiously, searching Google for "Darkest SW Scotland" comes up with Edinburgh Football Stadium as first choice, which may well be true, but that's not exactly SW.
I came unstuck when trying to place neilgwhite as his location says "the moon". Whilst Google does have a map of the moon (//http://www.google.com/moon/), I can't figure out a way of linking the two.
Anyone have any ideas?
Also, we might need to all chip in to help Ich_bin_besser with postage costs...
Don't worry about postage costs. I'm an elementary school teacher which means I'm rich. ;)
Should I email you my addy, seeing you are right before me in the list?
And  @ your location thing.

Stunning work! It's such a small world for a banana.
When excellent people like Hippo, Ron, Paul, Jem, Nellie, etc (that list is in no particular order and not comprehensive BTW) choose to spend their doing stuff for us forum dwellers, I can only see it as a great gift. Thanks RH. :)

Heh! I'm actually above ground and quite a bit further south than the central belt (only 7 miles from the English border actually, although we don't currently need different currency or passports or have to reset our watches every time we go to Carlisle.) I am actually on the Frost*ies map - you just need to scroll down after it stops being in alphabetical order for some reason.

I propose, in the interests of keeping the size of the banana*s carbon shoes down, we put Mr Geront in after DwDunphy as it's not far from there. At least, a lot closer than castironchef is.
'tis done.
I hope to get the picture taken this weekend, and then the banana will be on its way!!
I Eagerly await arrival of said Fruit! 8-) I May have to Do a fireworks shoot in celebration! That may make for an interesting photo op.
I, and various fruits (including non-European bananas) reside in Stockton, CA. Hopefully there will be a better location for Dena, as I am not able to afford the cost of "whale mail" to the midst of the Atlantic.

Own up, who was trying to drown Dena? I've put her back in the Ding where she belongs.
Thank you, Julie. I thought the Ding was getting a bit wet... ;)
The map is Very cool but Im a Tad confused as the the actual Location of Mr. Banana! As far as Helping with Postage... Absolutely! Can I Just put some cash in with our yellow friend to carry to his Next destination? I Trust it will not be pilfered... If it is, thats fine to. That person must have needed it and If I helped thats just as well! :) now, WHERE IS THE F-ING BANANA MAN!!!!!! :P
The Banana*'s last known location is the most recent yellow bananicon, currently Rog.
Admittedly this isn't going to be so easy to tell apart from its previous ports of call, so I'll need to come up with an alternative icon...
My first post - so be gentle with me! :-)
I'm actually based mainly in Munich, but have regular trips back to the UK. I could 'queue jump' (a trick I've learned since I've been here) and take the banana from 'Ich bin besser' so he doesn't have to post internationally. I can then try to get the banana back through customs on a trip back home, or I can post it on from here.
Alternatively I can 'wait my turn' and pick it up either in the UK or have it sent over here.
I leave the decision with the powers that be.
I've slotted you in after "ich bin besser" - makes sense.
Hey Rog, have you eaten the thing? :)
Quote from: "LardLinedWorf"I could 'queue jump' (a trick I've learned since I've been here) and take the banana from 'Ich bin besser' so he doesn't have to post internationally.
Ahh, international isn't the problem. You've now inherited Neilgwhite as your next recipient, whose location was last listed as "the moon" :)
This is fantastic! I'd love to get a nice bananaful picture! Add me to the list Pedro-san! :D
Hey, just to make clear again: I'll post this thing to whereever it has to go. Shipping costs are no problem.
Hey guys,
I'm a huge frosty lurkmaster, but I live in a fairly interesting location if you want some high altitude pictures. I (although usually living in good ol' Blighty) live in Banff AB, Canada for the time being, right up in the Rockies. I could take the banana for a little ski trip or something.
Quote from: "ich_bin_besser"Hey, just to make clear again: I'll post this thing to whereever it has to go. Shipping costs are no problem.
I only suggested you'd need help with costs as your next target was neilgwhite, current location "the moon". People seem to have got the wrong idea....
Not your problem now, anyway ;)

I'm sure Mikey could give us a quote for delivery to the moon and back. I'm sure UPS have their own rocket......
We could manage the following;
Moon, Upper Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand
Moon, Albright, Preston, WV 26519, USA
Moon, Pasig City, NCR, Philippines
Moon, Clarion, PA 16214, USA
Moon, Laurel, Franklin, IN 47024, USA
Moon, Lake Village, Chicot, AR 71653, USA
Moon, Bay, Craighead, AR 72411, USA
Moon, 4808 Texas 198, Malakoff, Henderson, TX 75148-4823, USA
Moon, 2911 W Berry St, Fort Worth, Tarrant, TX 76109-2307, USA
We have plenty of rockets.....ususally where the sun don't shine

Yep, my fault for getting the wrong end of the stick - what a debut post!
I'm quite happy to wait my proper turn if the queuemaster could insert me in the appropriate place.
Careful how you read that last bit!
many apologies to all Bananaramas! I have have been hip-deep in a musical at school and haven't had a moment to myself. all this fold-de-rol ends tonight, so tomorrow I will endeavor to get the banana picture and send the banana along its way!! to Florida, I believe! maybe I'll take a picture of it on the set of my show....
Cool!
How far is Banff AB, Canada from you?....further than it is from Florida I'm guessing.
Quote from: "Pedro"Cool!

probably a bit further, but either direction is fine with me. I visited Banff when I was 12, and it is beautiful!!

The Frost*ana in Vermont!!
it shall soon be winging its way to Florida!! 8-)
How did I miss this?!
I'm in!
Ok, I've added Ron on the end of the list but if people can see a better/cheaper faster order to do things maybe by slotting neighbouring countries together then let me know. Ok?
Nice pic Rog! :)
Can I leave it to you Stateside guys to work out the best way to schedule the shipping, don't forget the Canadian addition!
thanks!
hey, should there be a thread just for the pictures? otherwise it will be banana pudding (the pics all spread out...)
I've updated the map (//http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=208332667073892209306.00049a26909348753a6e2&ll=41.376809,-66.269531&spn=74.653128,133.59375&t=h&z=3) a bit and put Rog's pic on his pin.
I'll add Ron in (and catch up with others) later.
I see Fishy has been slotted in after Rog....
I actually think it'd be more efficient if it went to Banff after castironchef, leaving Rog to send it to Florida as previously arranged.
Quote from: "rogerg"hey, should there be a thread just for the pictures? otherwise it will be banana pudding (the pics all spread out...)
I like this idea :)
Might need to lock it though!
Thanks RH.
Ok, I've moved Fishy down the list - I haven't looked at the map so I'll take your word as to the efficiency.
I'll start a locked photo thread.
thanks, Pedro!
Excellent work, all. :D
Fro*nana will be packaged up and sent on its way tomorrow!
Don't forget to sign it! :D

We now have everyone on there apart from those whose whereabouts I don't know, and to whom I've sent PMs.
And neilgwhite, as Google Maps doesn't cover the moon.
Excellent map.
I think I'll be taking the Banana to Lake Louise by the look of things. Get a nice snap of the big banana's first snowboarding trip.
(Don't worry, I won't actually snowboard down with it inflated! Disaster awaits those who tread this path...)
Just wanted to say excellent photo, Rog. :D
Yes, cool pic rog!! Nice one.

PM the next guy (DwDunphy) and ask for the address. :)
If I'm not too late to the party, I'm game to get in on this! Expect some beautiful pacific northwestern landscapes behind the big banana once it passes through my hands. :D
I've tacked you on the end of the US section (but before Canada?).
I'm hoping that people are paying attention to the order and will make (and announce) sensible adjustments to it to avoid 'nana spending more time in flight than is necessary.
Actually, I really should add myself to the list one day...

Shipping to Canada is no problem for me, so if you want to leave me last of the US, that's fine. I can actually quite comfortably drive up to and over the border, so who knows? Perhaps I shall have to drive the banana to Canada and ship it to Canada from a Canadian post office? Now
that's thinking 4th Dimensionally. Or something.
Can you move me to the end of the UK (Lands End or John O Groats) list. It will be easier for me to ship to Europe for the final countdown
Quote from: "Mikey"Can you move me to the end of the UK (Lands End or John O Groats) list. It will be easier for me to ship to Europe for the final countdown
Good thinking!
That said, if we have Fishy send it to mainland Europe after its tour of The Americas (it'll cost the same as sending it to UK anyway), then send it on a tour of all the European Frost*ies before coming back to the UK - again, for each Euro-Frost*ie it'll cost no more to send it to another part of the EU as to the UK.
And it'll make the map (//http://bit.ly/frostiebanana) a bit less chaotic!
Anyway. Where is it now?
Jim - have you sent it on to DWDunphy yet?
And are there any photos?
I was thinking similarly, Hippo. Since there are so many tour stops in the UK, it would be preferable to get all other stops out of the way first. That way, the banana is certain to be close by whenever the DVD shoot takes place.
Quote from: "RacingHippo"And it'll make the map (//http://bit.ly/frostiebanana) a bit less chaotic!
Well done!
I was about to suggest that sending the banana* from France to Rome would make more sense...
Great minds think alike :D
(I hope that this saying has the same irony in english as in French!)
Where's the BA NA NA NA NA NA gone?
Jim's gone oddly silent since receiving it. We need to speed up the North American leg of the tour if it's to get to Jem in time for the DVD.
Ive Contacted the Next recipient! I apologize for the delay! Ordered Something and I just arrived! Taking pics tomorrow! :D I can ship it out Fri. 02-25-11
He lives!! Glad to hear the tour will resume soon. :D
Still waiting on a Reply from DwDunphy as to the Location of is next destination.... :?
Hi Jim, Hi all,
Unfortunately, I'm looking at unemployment right now and I can't host the Banana. I can barely host myself at the moment. Please move on to the next participant. I wish I could have been involved, but everything is looking quite awful and unbearable at the moment.
DwD
Oh, that's awful news. I hope you find a clear path very soon.
We will do as you suggest but keep everything crossed for you.
Hey Jim, I guess you need to PM geront.
DwD - fingers crossed you find employment before the Bananana* leaves USian shores!
Damn... Im Sorry DwD!! That just SUCKS!! Hang in there my Friend!! :( ;) Jim
Oh, And PM Sent to next Host! Im Shipping him UPS 2-day Blue to speed this up a bit! :?
News has now broken that Jem is taking an indefinite break from Frost* for a number of reasons but mostly his health.
I propose that we should continue with this project and get it to him as a "thank you" but it is not really my call.
If anyone wants to drop out from the list, let me know via PM.

I'm afraid I must insist that the project continue and the banana make its way to Jem.
Yep, it will make a very nice present for Jem. He should post one more Frost* report when unpacking it. 8-)
Just as Milliontown isn't going to suddenly cease to provide entertainment, neither should the Bananana*.
And it'll look lovely framed on the wall next to Jem's various platinum discs.
This is all the more reason to KEEP THIS GOING!! In Fact, to Really make each and every stop just that More special.. Indefinite my ASS, I Cant hear that, I didnt hear that... But, Jems Health is Beyond paramount Priority.. We are just mere Fans... He has Children and a Lovely Wife... THATS Priority!!! This "banana*" O'rama... Is just a Simple "Thank You" from his Closest, and Partially obsessed :? Fans! I PLEDGE.... That From THIS DAY FORWARD...... When Typing Banana*, a Frosterisk MUST follow no matter when where why or how... AND When the Word Banana is Spoken, "frost" One Must Say "Frost" immediately After the word Banana* "frost" Is spoken! I Promise to do this till the day I die!! Really..

Status update, Jim?
Has it been posted to Geront? And is that your Official Picture up there?
No word from the banana-er or the banana-ee. Do we need an avatar of the banana arching backward under a stick or should we move on to the next person?
Well, we need to know where it is, first.....
To Apologize would be Moot.... Long Story Short... Big Banana* got a tour of the QSC Headquarters in California.... IM IN FLORIDA>>> The Shipping "dude" here accidentally Packed him in with a Repair going Back to the Factory.. Needless to say, He is Unemployed as of This Morning... This was just the Last Straw... All I can say is, Thank God for Honest people.. I have been calling everyone on the receiving end of our UPS Ship to list as of this past Monday.. The Last desperate call was to QSC.. Finally got through to the service dept. and actually was talking to the Guy that Unpacked the amp box with Big Banana*. He Red Labeled him Back Here. While speaking with this fine Gentleman and explaining the story, I heard in the Background Hyperventilate start Blaring... I Got a Call Back later this afternoon from the Guy saying Frost* is the Most Incredible Music he has ever heard, In fact the entire plant is hooked and using Frost* AT QSC to test Equipment.. Big Banana* makes Friends wherever he lands I Guess..
I KNOW this couldn't possibly have happened at a worse time and I am Deeply sorry for and discontent and Pissiness I may have caused... The Horrible stress I experienced with this Act of incredible incompetence will not soon be forgotten by me... Big Banana* WILL be here Possibly Tomorrow but Deff. Monday where he will receive the Red Label treatment to his next adventure... BTW, Staying Silent like I did was Wrong, But I was Determined to locate him.. This, I thought was the Perfect time to exercise the Ignorance is Bliss Cliche'..... Sincerely, Jim
Did they sign him and take his photo :?:
:)
Hey Jim, that's quite a cool addition to the adventure.
Well done for tracking the little fella down again...that could have been a real nightmare.
Indeed. Bravo, Jim! And you managed to bring Frost* to a whole new bunch of people, which is very cool. :)
Big Banana* achieved sentience, jumped into a box bound for California, and went to recruit a whole new bunch of Frost*ies. Awesome!
Woohoo! Bonus tour stop! Sounds like it ended up with the right person. I was wondering the same thing - did the QSC guy sign the banana?? What an exciting adventure for our jumbo fruit. :D
I can see a book and a film coming from this....
Well done Jim! :D
Thats a great story. I never once expected the trip to take off like this. I expected a dozen or so people to take part.
Im hoping at the end we can get it posted to his Jemfreeness.
Hope he would see it as a token of support from the Frosties!
Rawk!
Heh!
that is a great story! no apologies necessary, Jim!! The Banana* knew where he was needed! 8-)
When the dude @ QSC called me back later that day, I actually did ask him if he signed him.... :( Turns out Mr UPS man had already picked up!! :x That would have been epic to have a Pic of him with the Staff of my Fav. Amps and Active Speakers... BTW, Greatest company to deal with....

To be honest chaps/chapettes, my recent attempts to buy anything online have made me extremely untrusting of postal service within a mountain range. I think of the 5 things I've either bought or had sent to me, 2 of them arrived, and it took nigh on a month to get here.
With this in mind perhaps it would be wise if I jumped down in the queue, for I return to blighty around May 8th.
It shall come to pass that the banana shall be taken into my care in the fine hamlet of Berkhamsted.
Done! :)

LOL :) Yonder banana has yet to arrive, but I wait with baited breath (fudge topped biscuits of course) and have concocted several foul/wonderful places to take thine nana! :) Frost at the White House? Nah, boring. Frost at the WWII Memorial? Hmmm, maybe, Defense of the Realm and all that! Frost at the National Zoo kindling some Panda love??? Possibly! Ah, but Frost surrounded by Homeland Security before the Capital building??? Makes me weak in the knees with bladder rupture fantasies.... :)
Just so long as we don't get photos of "Banananana* with bladder rupture"...
Now that gives me some awfully fun ideas!!!! LOL :) Note to Self: I wonder if that lovely banana could hold say a gallon of lemonade, and could be squeezed to appear like it's pissing?!? :)
LOL
Use something non-sticky, non-perishable and mon-carbonated.
Other folks need to blow it up and it mustn't be glued-up, mouldy and/or exploded! ;)
Non sticky, non perishable, and non carbonated??? :) I think that leaves me with plain old water with some food coloring in it??? LOL :) Well, there goes the idea I didn't share!!!!
The Hindenburg Banana!!!!!! Maybe that could be it's encore???? Fill it with helium, tie a long fuse to it, and let err rip!!! I mean sail away.... :)
Ah, the Divine Banana has arrived!!!!!! YES! Let the shenanigans commence!!!! :)
*Note: no real or inflatable bananas were harmed during the filming of this special, but don't ask me about the squirrels!*

Indeed. However, when I watched that again, I got a bit of a lump in my throat as I was suddenly reminded a) what a bloody musical and programming genius Jem is; and b) how tragically sad it is that we may never get to hear BLM live again. :?

WOW, I Simply could Not agree more with all Of this in regards to Jem's Influence!! He has completely changed my outlook on music composition as far as the Structure of Song. I Have said this many times in many various posts and outlets, but Jem Godfrey is our Modern day "Mozart, Back, Beethoven.... insert composer of choice" an I truly believe he will be studied Hundreds of years from now as his predecessors are today.. If you literally dissect any of his songs, and analyze each component, the simple and unintended genius is apparent! I say this out of sheer appreciation for his work and his use of the modern day music making toys that I deal with as my day job every day.. His command of technology is only second to his artistry and command of arranging sound and obtaining what we know as Frost*!!!
Apologies for bringing this back on topic for a moment, but can we get an update on the banana?
Still with geront but will be moving soon apparently. :)

1000 pardons! :) Thine banana is safe and sound, although I had the foresight to go on vacation the day after it arrived, and then promptly BURIED the box under vacation gear throw-up that remained in the corner of my room. Ugh.
So, have slapped my own wrist thrice, I will be taking the banana to DC tomorrow to see what photo op presents itself, take a very wonderful Hello From DC picture, release all previous breathing into the banana, and pack it up for it's next part of the journey.
Sadly, the banana will be leaving at the height of Cherry Blossom season here, it seems almost to signal the sad end of those blossoms, which rarely last more than a few weeks tops.
Must check list, forgot where I'm to send this!
Huzzah!

Well played....but your post count (201) is a bit untidy now.... ;)
So...at it's present rate of knots it should reach the end of the list around May 2013. Just in time for the new Frost* DVD recording ;)
It appears the banana has stalled again. I must say, I didn't expect it to take this long. :(
Actually, the banana was sent on to the next recipient last Monday! Thine banana has moved towards the west coast of the US... :)

I have plonked you in the list but I should defer to RacingHippo who is manfully logisticising this so well.
I'm guessing that we don't really want to say "no" to anyone but overall progress has been rather slow to date so sooner or later the US leg of the tour will need to end.
Watch this space(?) :)

If it's not too late, we could just squeeze you in after the current host, castironchef, before it heads up north. So long as you promise to have it in and out within a week. And can foot the postage up to finbeard.
Castironchef? Is that OK??

I have messaged MTBD and will have the slim yellow one out of here as soon as I hear from him. I was hoping to take the banana on the Stockton, CA foreclosure bus but there were no available seats. Fortunately, however, today was "Take your tropical fruit to work day" at my employer so we had some quality "prog fan/prog fruit" time together. Pics to follow soon!
CIC
In an almost unbelievable stroke of luck today was "Bring your tropical fruit to work" day. I'm sure you can imagine the nearly palpable envy that some of my co-workers felt when they saw my inflatable banana and all they had was a slightly bruised guava. I took a few pictures as we went through our day to allow you to share just bit of our experience.
Being a banana and everything, we had to commute green:

The Banana arrived this weekend, and after Seeing castironchecf's post, I saw it would be a hard act to follow.
My original intent was to take him on a mountain bike ride, but alas, he was too big to fit in my pack. (Indeed a Big Banana)
So i settled for a few random shots from around my apartment

It's been Banana*map Night for me.
I've updated the map (//http://bit.ly/frostiebanana) and untangled the route around Europe & the UK. It has far smaller carbon feet now.

Hello out there- I'm still alive! What's the news on my standing in this? Have you all skipped me and moved merrily along, or is there still a chance to be the recipient of a bit of inflatable fruit?
Hi, glad you're ok.:)
Hopefully MTBDude will contact you when the time comes...which hopefully will be soon. You win the prize of shipping it to Europe hope that's ok.
I just hope said banana didn't decide to head off to QSC Audio again! MTB Dude posted his pics back on the 10th. Can we post an APB at QSC just in case?

hi folks... just logged in for the first time in a long time- i've been doggedly busy and traveling around as well! i'm actually posting from houston, TX today... i'm sending MTBDude my details presently, hopefully we can get this road back on the show! sorry to hold everyone up unnecessarily.

hey y'all; i know i've held on to the big banana for kind of long, but trust me on this one- it will be worth it!

Oooh! Excitin'!

At the risk of being a bit of a killjoy, isn't this getting a bit out of hand?
It's becoming a competition to see who can outdo each other.
There should be a time limit on how long you keep it.
Never mind Jem retiring before we've finished, his kids will have retired.
:) Well it would be nice if it had moved a little bit faster but I for one appreciate that people are trying to do something a bit special with it. It'll move fast enough when us boring Brits get our paws on it. ;)
And our photograph locations will become a lot less glamorous. ;)

My little peanuts against UPS's big brown boulders.
& as for working, I'm currently at 160%, against the hours that I'm paid to work
The reason I left the forum before :(
You do right, Mr Mikey.
When I worked for a muti-national ERP vendor I ended up doing deeply silly hours and taking a huge amount of pressure; it eventually broke me to the extent that I couldn't even look at a sodding computer for 6 months (and was ordered not to by my lovely GP).
The shrink that the company had to pay for for me gave me a rule which I've never forgotten (and frequently repeat to people, so sorry if I'm banging on):
Health, Family, Work. In that order.
In this way, you retain sanity (or whatever passes for it). And you're more useful to the company if you're sane.
Seriously, though - quality of work really suffers if you're stressed. Time away from work really does benefit work.
Quote from: "RacingHippo"Time away from work really does benefit work.
I think i'll be getting alot of time away from UPS. My grievance was more about the lack of integrity within the Company, but I shouldn't really say more about that just yet.
Fingers crossed for you, mate.
Quote from: "Pedro"Fingers crossed for you, mate.
Thanks, let's just say I'm working on something pretty big. Unless I've completely screwed myself, which isn't beyond the bounds of credibility.
For someone with shattered confidence, I'm pretty, no, ugly confident
good luck, Mikey! thinking of you!
Yes, good luck, matey. The Forum will be with you. :)
Good luck Mikey. I hope it all works out for the better :)

on friday night, a put-together band project of mine played Hyperventilate for a bunch of kids at a music camp. it came off really well, considering the guitarist and keyboard player learned it a week before the gig and we only had two chances before to run through it together. we got a few ragtag video angles and multi-channel recorded the whole thing, so with any luck, i'll be able to show you guys a video of this too! at least we managed to get a suitably un-haired keyboard player...
this is why i held on to the banana for too long; sorry for making you guys twiddle your collective thumbs over me, but i felt it would be a fitting use for it!
and i'm never going to say 'held on to the banana' again...
off to france with you! there goes a big banana!
Thanks Guys & Galls for your support. It means a great deal to me :)
I was thinking it might be the defence of my realm.
I may have lost the opening battle with my original grievance, but....
The dark forces may have shot themslves in the foot and also sustained injuries from friendly fire (Managers trying to cover their own ar$es).
Just happened to have bumped into our head of security today who not only will be an excellent character witness for me, but remembers some of the issues that the Company are denying happened.
If my peanuts were crushed by the mighty brown rocks, can I crush rocks with balls of steel? and anyone got any spare.
I should probably go back to the UPS thread instead of hijacking the banana
Wherever it's delivered, Mikey, it's good to get the update. Hope things progress in the right way.
As for you Mr finbeard, jolly well played sir. Not only is it a Frost*ie performance but it's also getting the mighty music in front of some youngsters...each one teach one and all that. Nice work...vive le banane!

I was aiming for "Crumbs!" (apparently the French for "crikey" is "crikey"), and the best Google Translate could offer was Chapelure as a translation of "breadcrumbs".
I once worked with an LD* who'd come out with old-fashioned English exclamations translated into pidgin French.
For instance:
- Ciel à Betsy! (Heavens to Betsy)
- Frapper une allumette! (Strike a light)
And my favourite, which I still use today: - Lapider les corbeaux! (Stone the crows)
Quote from: "David"Anyway, he's officially on his way to his roman vacation.
Excellent! I'll update the map.

Dang, I kinda hoped the Banana would arrive here in Germany just in time for this festival: http://www.progressive-promotion-records.com/bands.html (http://www.progressive-promotion-records.com/bands.html)
Would've gotten the bands to sign the Banana with a message for Jem - but now it seems it'll arrive much earlier... So on to Plan B...
Well, you never know, the speed this thing moves sometimes.... ;)
I guess Plan A Paragraph 2 could be that you take a suitable picture of the banana and get the bands to sign that?

Oh, and if it's even remotely possible, it would be more than brilliant if the big banana could make it to the Christmas gig. Even better if the tour is completed by then, so Jem can be presented with the "massive peel" at The Peel.

Perhaps the UK sequence could be amended so that those unable to attend the gig get the banana* first, and if necessary the rest can sign it on the day.
That would be a reasonable compromise...but I think people might be hoping to still get their photo opportunity with it as part of the tour so let's still try to keep it moving and not hang on to it for any longer than really necessary?
Yes, I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on having quality time with the banana as part of their planned tour stop. Whether the tour is over or not, though, it would be great if it could be at the gig.

Hopefully it will get to the Ding soon - I have a chap or two that I'm trying to line up for a photo opportunity with the banana..... ;)

If it spends no longer than 3 days with each recipient, it should just about make it :?
No response whatsoever from LardLinedWorf for his address. Shall I pass it on to ich_bin_besser? Photos done, shall post them laters ;)
The banana will ship tomorrow morning if I get the address before tonight.
Sent my addy. 8-)
Guess that's means I'll have to decide what to do with it...
LardLinedWorf has had to give his apologies and drop out.
I've taken him out of the list.
Onwards!

I cannot stop smiling about that shot, Marco! Love it, love it, love it! :D
Nice work Gandalf! :)
Back from holidays in Ireland, I'm so pleased to see the banana* in Rome! Marvelous picture, Marco! 8-)
And now the banana* is off to Deutschland to ich_bin_besser! :)
Okay, thanks! Too bad it's right in between 2 nice events: the Flaming Row CD release party last weekend and the Progressive Promotion festival in 1 month.
But I have some other nice ideas for some photos in my mind.
Be careful where you try to take it. Things can get out of hand.

Serves her right for trying to take an imposter of the Banana* around town.
I can also report that the Banana*'s second brother (or whatever relative it happens to be) is a bit jealous of its sibling's adventures around the world. All this one's been doing since Derby is sitting on top of my wardrobe convening with the Defence Of The Realm posters and Pedro's marvelous bunting.
LOL...I was(am) dead proud of that bunting...I wish it had occurred to me in time for the Summer's End DOTR.
I fear it might have been a bit too subtle, particularly when I first showed it to Jem and his reaction was "Yeah, Union Jack, very nice"....until I pointed out the 5-pointed Frost*iness of it....then the penny-drop look on his face was wondreful. :)

Or a euphemism...
Da Banana arrived in Germany today. 8-)
Please allow me until the beginning of next week to take some pics. And I hope it's okay to ship it in an envelope as this will be cheaper than this quite big package I got it in.
Hmm, but now that I think about it, I think I'll keep it. Will be a nice addition to my wall of prog.

;)
Donnerwetter!
That IS a wall!
The banana* seems to fit perfectly, indeed. :D
It does look very comfortable, doesn't it? :D
One banana coming my way!
Excellent stuff!
I've updated the map (http://bit.ly/frostiebanana (http://bit.ly/frostiebanana)) and changed the yellow banana-markers to little icons of the photos to make it more interesting (or chaotic).
Ron, I'm not THAT fast... ;) Banana will be in the mail tomorrow.
Some pics and hopefully a video to follow here later today.
Okie, here's where I took the banana today: a tower near my home"town" in Hessen/Germany. A video message is uploading right now, will post it later.

nice! the banana was trying to fly!!
That banana was nearly blown away.
That could have been disastrous.
The video of IBB chasing across the German countryside after an inflatable banana would have been good though.
Splendid stuff, Juergen! Love the video! :D
Love the view, the castle remains look interesting. Must look up some info on it.

(actually, I can't believe this thread is still going on!)
There's a little over 60 days until the Frost* gig at The Peel and still a couple dozen banana tour stops to go. Can it be done??
Well, I've (I think) arranged the schedule so that it goes to folks near-ish each other in order, in case there's a chance of doing double-whammies.
But for now... what's the status, jur451c????

I've reshuffled things a little to take into account people who have moved (OK, person) and... other things :)
Only 981 miles to go....
I would suggest that we drop the AGM attendees off the list and we sign it at the Peel. Knackers my photo idea, but gets more names on it
As long as it gets to someone who is going
Don't worry Mikey, it's more important that the banana completes its full journey rather than bodging names onto it in a last-minute panic, just to coincide with the AGM. I suggest that we don't drop anyone and allow people to continue to plan their photos.
Wot Pedro sed.
I didn't mean drop totally, just a mass signing at the Peel
Even so, the deal was; host the banana, take a piccy or two and send it on its way...not just scrawl your name on it to meet a convenient artificial deadline. Just my view of course but I think the journey should be completed properly for it to have the proper impact on the recipient.
I agree with Pedro let the banana continue on it's journey chances are who ever has it at the time of the gig will be going to the gig anyway and if they want to bring the banana and pass it on to the next person at the gig we can document in the handover in photos and video :D
Agreed. Certainly don't want to rob anyone of their turn, just think it would be a great group photo op. 8-)
I was expecting a group banana photo! It'd be a shame not to.
Well it should be done, if it can be done without giving the game away....and, of course, there will very likely be a photo op when the thing is finally presented to Jem next year. :)
Actually, yes, there will of course be the perfect group photo op upon actual presentation of the young fella.
So it won't be critical whether it's there or not. Although I'm sure we'll have plenty of opportunites pre-gig without giving the game away, as Pedro says.
Today, I am driving myself and JohnInBlack to Ipswich (a thing us Norfolk folk are rarely happy to do) to meet Catthebass to get banana'd up. This will kill two birds with one stone.
Photos to follow. I guess.

It's ok Bert, we don't need the disguises, we don't have to go into Ipswich.
I've been banana'd up!
I say!
I'm ever so grateful you put a ! at the end of that else someone might have added something after "up".
The banana is making a sneaky detour on Friday to my house! I shall then post it to Mouse apparently.
I wonder if I'll be the one to smuggle it to the AGM?
Actually, it provide an opportunity to get a photo of it back with the chap who originally sent it on its way. Full circle and all that. :) And then secretly pass it on at the gig...

Banana is with Nellie now. She's passing it to Mouse.
??? where was the banana?
Mouse confirmed that he had it.
I think he was taking it back to his lair to photograph it.
The Banana* is safe and back with me at the Mouse Hole. I put it away for safekeeping at the gig and then activity happened, so I do apologise for its absence. I shall scribble on it, photograph it and send it on as soon as. Knowing what the post can be like this time of year, I hope it'll be OK being posted this close to Christmas.
The bananna was on covert duty at the gig, he was there but didn't make a public appearance! 8-)
The banana's been all nice and cosy with me here. I'll wait until the New Year festivities are out of the way and let the post get back to as normal as it's ever going to be before I send it on. Hope that's OK. :)
I've had another idea to add to the trip.
Do we keep the Banana touring until the imminent release of the album then get Nellie or whoever sees Jem the most to present it to him. The story could then be used as a bit of a promotional point for the album release. I mean U2 were never going to get fans doing this before the new album came out! Only a bunch of Frosties could come up with this.
What we would need is a nice concise promotional blurb to send to all the daily papers and someone is sure to pick up on it and any bit of free promotion is surely a good thing?
Reckon the blurb should mention band members, the hiatus , why the banana appeared at concerts, the trip and photos, and new album.
Discuss!
Sounds like a plan....of course, the album might not be out in 2012...but then the Banana might not get around everyone before then anyway! ;)
Presentation at an album launch party would be a neat tie-up.
The Olympics have their torch....Frost* has an inflatable banana. :)
Im sure at least a couple of papers would take up the story and it would all be good exposure.
Quote from: "Fogeyspasm"Im sure at least a couple of papers would take up the story and it would all be good exposure.
Agree, what's the worst outcome? We achieve what we set out to originally so we're not going to lose out on anything. I say go for it.

Daily Mail:
Sick fans of twisted band force innocent fruit to tour the world.
"Fans of band Frost* appear to be mentally retartded, Coldplay would never sanction the idea of a banana touring the World in their honour!"
Or
" First it was banks of keyboards, then cloaks wizzards and Hobbits. Now its giant inflatable bananas. Prog really has gone down hill!"

I can see the headline now "PROG GOES BANANAS"
Bananas are an excellent source of Vitamin K. Inflatable ones... perhaps Vitamin P?
I don't recall what the plan was for the photos. Was an actual photo album going to be assembled and presented as well? Speaking of Vitamin P, perhaps the banana tour photos could be emailed to him for possible use?
Well the original plan, as I recall it, was for the banana to be back for the filming of a DVD at Rockfield Studios (which was planned as an alternative when the Derby DVD turned out to be impossible but sadly never happened). Then it became a gesture of support and "please come back" during the hiatus. Now it appears to be another batty but brilliant thing that Frost*ies do.
The plan for the photos was less clear. I think we were originally just going to add them to a forum thread but then it was proposed to put these into an album to be presented to Jem. I quite like this myself - maybe with a page per location/person (maybe showing avatar, picture and map location?).
However, this should really be up to Wing Commander Fogey....it's his banana....it's not really my call.. :)
Once again I'm in total agreement with Pedro.
This is not a real help as i never really expected it to get this far but i don't really class it as "My Banana" and am quite open to whatever anyone/everyone thinks is best. We didn't get a chance to present it at the gig, turned out to be wrong time, wrong place as there was so much going on.
Like the photo album idea although not everyone took a pic with it, but i also like the other promotional possibilities. 8-)

It's one of those geographical anomalies but notwithstanding Roger's snowy photos, the northernmost part of Vermont is 45 degress N but where I live in southern Scotland is 55 degrees N. North Vermont is on the same line of latitude as Bordeaux.
But never mind that. Did you know that the Gulf Stream, together with its northern extension towards Europe, the North Atlantic Drift, is a powerful, warm, and swift Atlantic ocean current that originates at the tip of Florida, and follows the eastern coastlines of the United States and Newfoundland before crossing the Atlantic Ocean? The process of western intensification causes the Gulf Stream to be a northward accelerating current off the east coast of North America. At about 40°0?N 30°0?W, it splits in two, with the northern stream crossing to northern Europe and the southern stream recirculating off West Africa. The Gulf Stream influences the climate of the east coast of North America from Florida to Newfoundland, and the west coast of Europe. Although there has been recent debate, there is consensus that the climate of Western Europe and Northern Europe is warmer than it would otherwise be due to the North Atlantic drift, one of the branches from the tail of the Gulf Stream. It is part of the North Atlantic Gyre. Its presence has led to the development of strong cyclones of all types, both within the atmosphere and within the ocean. The Gulf Stream is also a significant potential source of renewable power generation.

Sounds like you were right to be concerned, Mikey.
Banana-chuffing is a dangerous procedure.
In fact, I'm not sure it's legal....
RH, Speaking of things banana related.
Did you see my PM just before Xmas re. my location?
Um... if I did, I forgot completely about it amongst all the advent calendar shenanigans!
Your location is duly updated.
Crikey. It's me next!
Quote from: "Mikey"Apologies. I should have acknowledged receipt of the Yellow one so the thread could be updated.
We had a great day yesterday cruising around West Yorkshire, listening to Dead Nobodies #1.
When we stoppped for dinner, the woman in the next car could clearly be heard saying
"Dlaczego ten cz?owiek dosta? nadmuchiwane banana w swoim samochodzie?"
There aren't many Yorkshiremen left in Yorkshire.

Thaaaank you!
I had a surreal moment in the post office when I sent it on (yes, it's on it's way now!) where the man asked me if it was anything valuable, and what it was worth.
Obviously I panicked and insured it, because I do NOT want to be the one who loses the banana. Jus' sayin'.

Fear not.
A package arrived at The Hippo Home for Deflated Bananas this very morning!
I won't ask why it went from Dewsbury to Everton to Thornton.....UPS planning?
So me and The Banana* took a little trip over to York last night.
While we were there, I got Rob & Susie Moss to sign it.
And Guy Manning.
And these four LOVELY people (and their bassist, who had sneaked off to get some "liquid pain killers" for his back):
(//http://racinghippo.co.uk/stuff/touchy-banana_800.jpg) (//http://racinghippo.co.uk/stuff/touchy-banana.jpg)

I need to get moving on this. However, I have a small plan which involves some outdoor photography... and last weekend, if you remember, was kind of wet! - I blame the drought of course.
This is still insane. Still wondreful. Glad to see it still flying around after all this time. When it started, I still had hair! :D

Megga apologies folks - It's been kinda busy in Bromland, not helped by Miss Brom's exams, and she wants to be part of the pic I have planned for said nana. Today we were all set and AGAIN the weather turned against us. So - if we don't get the intended pic done this weekend, we'll sort something else out and I guarantee it will be on its way early next week... so who is next? :D

Tricky has opted to pass, too busy, sadly, so I've removed him from the list.

At Last!! Here she is, the good Airship Frosty* moored up outside the Cardington hangars specially made for her big cousins the R100 and R101.
These days these enormous 700 foot long sheds are used for a variety of purposes, not least for film making - Scenes from Batman Returns, The Dark Knight, other Batman movies and Inception were filmed here. Lots of musical going on's too, including stage setup rehearsals for U2, Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, Take That and AC/DC.
I LOVE that, Brom! :D
As a huge Christopher Nolan fan, I find that especially cool and interesting. In addition to the amazing "Inception" and the Batman films, he also wrote the innovative "Memento" and the brilliant film "The Prestige". What a unique location and a very cool picture.
I'm jealous of this inflatable fruit. It's been places I can only dream of.
Well done.
Thanks AJ! :D Funny how something you see every day you sort of take for granted. Maybe one day I'll get the pleasure of showing them to you first hand!
So, after a bit of a stall with me, sorry bout that folks, the nana is, as I type, winging it's way to L33VEY who should have it tomorrow for his intended weekend photoshoot.
Is this still going on? Can I still apply? 8-)

Well it didn't rain and this is my idea of a cool car.

It listened to Milliontown on the way, so not much conversation again.

Sorry chaps, life suddenly got busy & I've managed to do sod all with Mr B. Will get him down to a gig at the weekend and then send him on.
Cool, I guess we have a target of the Frost*Bites AGM to aim for now...
Gig and new songs, seems a good target to aim for.
How much further does the Banananananananananananananananananananaannananananananannana* have to travel?
It was last seen chez Againesis, due to go to redevan101.
Any news, chaps?
Currently waiting for a reply from redevan101. Mr B unfortunately landed at Chez Againesis on possibly the busiest fortnight I've ever had at work: //http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-18810309
I seem to have been removed from the list for some reason? I had been waiting for that pm but I don't think it ever came.
It'd be nice if you could pop me back in somewhere, I had something a bit special planned.
That will be my fault for messing around with the order.
De-tour needed!
UPDATE!
Sounds like we've lost Redevan, so I propose we go onto the next in the list: Sarah.
Fishy - you're back in, straight after the aforementioned Ash-person.
We're currently looking at the logistics of getting the Banananana* over to gabrielkfl in Rio.
Mileage so far: 24,124
Miles to go: 381, or if we can get it to Rio and back, 12,050!!!
All in viewable Glorious Frost*icolor™ on the Official Banana*map (//http://bit.ly/frostiebanana).
My fault - redevan DID. Get back to me but too late for me to send Mr B before I went off on my hols. He is now in flight and should arrive with redevan in a day or two. Photos from his stopover with me will be uploaded soon.
Mileage so far: 24,124
Thats a lot of airmiles he has chalked up.
If we can get the banana* to South America (yay!), I hope it can be done around new year's, when it's summer and I won't freeze to death when taking it to the beach.
Only problem is that Copacabana in summer looks exactly like this (//http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3621/3376136643_16d044b13b_z.jpg).
note: "Freeze to death" in Rio means something around 20ºC (68ºF).

Given that we want to get it back in time for Frost*Bites in December, it won't be New Year!
But it's looking like we'll be able to get it to you
Does anyone know if redevan received le banana? The December gig will be here soon. It would be nice to wrap up the tour before then.
Inquiries are being made......
Slightly embarrassed. Gave box to Mrs A to post around a month ago. Found said box in the boot of her car last weekend!
Results:
1. Some initial apologies (admittedly fairly short lived)
2. Some accusations that my "online friends are a bunch of weirdos anyway"!
3. A comment that it's just some sodding yellow plastic in a box.
4. An observation that I'm nearly 40 and should get a life!!
5. A frosty atmosphere for the rest of the weekend...in all the wrong ways.
However, BB should by now be well & truly Brighton based. So....sorry about that folks.
This is good...it seems quite a few people have retained the banana for quite a while so don't feel too bad about it.
It is slightly worrying that redevan hasn't responded to any enquiries about it, though. :?
If it ever turns up again then you might send it my way, sometime...

phew!
My banana responsibilities are over :)
Well banana-ed missus! :)
Hmm...19 people in a year...room for some improvement when you look at it like that. :o
my turnaround was quick!
I have a cunning plan for presenting said Banana to Master Godfrey. When i get chance i will post it up as work beckons!
Does it include a photo album and a Vitamin P designed tour shirt? :D
You are surprisingly close on both counts!
I'm a literally just waiting for a sunny day at this point or it won't work.

Quote from: "Fishy"I'm a literally just waiting for a sunny day at this point or it won't work.
Oh poop. Looks like we won't get it to Jem this year then....
Ha ha. :)
But looking at the bigger picture, it's actually not likely to be this year. However, with the new album AND re-release of Milliontown (the Nana's spiritual birthplace) planned to happen next year, that actually begins to look like the right time for it to happen....there's some kind of "bananakarma" about it! :D
Quote from: "Pedro""bananakarma" :D

Im going to get a Frost* Big Banana on tour shirt made for Frostbites.
Pedro and i have discussed a few options. The plan seems to be, and its open to other ideas, wait till album release next year. Maybe use the story of Bananas travels as a story for the media, either we will all be made out as loonies or people will just find the story funny but it will be all Frost* promotion.
Then when we get to the end of the travels it may be amusing to leave it at a gig near Jems rig. No presentation but a booklet of where it has been, photos and a please look after me note. A bit like the Paddington bear story.
Discuss!
Quote from: "Fogeyspasm"we will all be made out as loonies
No change there then ;)

There we go:

I'd be worried enough if I was JM with your note-for-note copying of his solos but also doing the "I'm a prog god!" keyboard solo from Falling Down on a guitar??!
I trust the banana was suitably impressed... ;)

I was quite chuffed that I managed to make Falling Down work on guitar, glad you enjoyed it. But I don't think JM has anything to worry about from a young whippersnapper like me taking his spot.
(Not that that wouldn't be awesome...)Edit: Ah forgot to mention. It was a bit hard to tell if the banana was appropriately appeased. To be honest it's been kind of demure the whole time for some reason.
well done!!
Very nicely done, Fishy!
Seriously nice work. :D

Not sure why you needed a sunny day for it though ;)
Maybe the sunny day delay was for a photo...what you just watched was not a photo... ;)
I needed a sunnier day for that video actually. My room is incredibly dark, and when you have the window being bright behind whatever you're filming it makes everything dull. When you're trying to record something with fast small movements like that in bad lighting it always comes out blurry.
I've got two desk lamps focused on the guitar (you can just about see the glare on the headstock from one) and it STILL makes that guitar look very dark. This is what it's supposed to look like in a well lit room:
And you can barely tell it's not black in the video.
Quote from: "Fishy"My room is incredibly dark, and when you have the window being bright behind whatever you're filming it makes everything dull.
Then turn around :)
Film from the window towards you so that the sunlight illuminates
you, instead of it flooding the camera and effectively making it squint, thereby making the rest of the room go dark (and making you a silhouette).
Science, innit?

I am pleased to report that the Banana* has landed in the Prog Capital of the UK, at Chez Dena!
I've got a couple of ideas on the go as regards pictures, but it may take a few weeks or so to arrange, so please bear with me. As soon as I get some photo opportunities I'll post the results up here. :)
Ooooh!!
Just don't let Mitchell pop it.

Just a quick update for you.
The banana* is currently with DueyC all ready for a jaunt to the south coast with a few bods this weekend. I'll then get it back from her next week for a few photos (hopefully) with a couple of faces that you may find familiar.... ;)

I hope they all signed the banana in the process. I think the banana has met quite a few prog stars already on his tour - John Wesley & Touchstone for starters.
Fab!
Map (//http://bit.ly/frostiebanana) updated :)
Yes, this was my grand master plan for the banana* upon its arival to Reading (prog capital of the UK).
I popped back to JM's house after the drum clinic, along with Blunders, and I can definitely confirm that both of them signed said banana* in JM's kitchen.
It's onto Mike in Welsh Wales next... :)

Nope.
Obviously nope in this case means we might be but dare not say so.

Your 4 year anniversary as well, as it was for quite a few of us.
Happy birthday to the new Forum
There is no way it will be done before this year's AGM...I believe that there is another continent hop in the pipeline. :)
Besides, while it is not really my call, I think it would coolest if the hand-over could be tied-in with the launch of F*** or, even better, the release of the re-vamped version of Milliontown (the album from which the banana emerged). I think both events might happen next year sometime.
Seconded. On all fronts!
For some reason i first typed fonts.
Comic Sans anybody?
The Banana has arrived hope to take some pics early next week and send it on it's way :D
I saw Martin Orford at the Arena gig on Friday. His opening comment was "Last time I saw you, you were wielding a giant banana on my steam train". It sounds as though it was the highlight of his day and he's been telling his friends about it
The Banana* won't be forgotten in a hurry 8-)
I'll be taking the banana* photos today :D
So the banana came with me to work today and I wouldn't let him just hang around here all day without doing some work.
So first I had him man the mixing desk in our technical gallery for our theatre:

Next I had him give a talk in the theatre on the wonders of listening to Frost*

Nice work Mike! The banana looks quite at home there. 8-)
Looks as if the amount of unscribbled-on yellow area left is rapidly decreasing too!
Love it. Could just see mine and Camerons signatures in the first picture. I wondered if they had still survived?

As I said elsewhere, Mike, great pics!! thanks for sharing!
Not only great pics, but a lot of great people represented there. Well done, all.

Wow! That really is a big black shed.
heh
Glad the forum emails me when I get a PM! I'm up next. Got a plan, and a mate to help me execute it!
Posted. Winging its way to Drarok. Who incidentally lives in my old stomping ground.
Is this thing STILL going?!! Can i join in?! xx
:D But of course....(to both questions) I'll add you to the list. :)
Yay!!
This has been going on for so long, it started back when I had hair! :D
It's properly insanables and brilliweed.
Young Bananananana* is safely in my possession, I shall endevour to have him on his way post-haste! (Geddit?)
All done, pics due shortly, have messaged lyn for a forwarding address for the bowed yellow one.
Attempted to go to the Post Office twice today during lunch. Queue was out the door both times. :(
Asked at reception when I got back to work if we can post things through the company - yep! So he's packaged up and en-route to lyn, yay.
Hope you put in lots of bubbles or wotsits - cos it's a bit frosty for a brrrrrrrrrrranananananana* to be hanging around outside all alone....
Damn the names on the Tour shirt need amending. Anyone got a white crayon?
Ahh....sorry about that.... :(
Err... Wut?
Quote from: "Drarok"Err... Wut?

Hey...there is a brrranana* in my world! How wierd is that? Brilliant! Thanks!!!
Fogey's tour shirt looked pretty damn good last night, I must say.
Get on with it!

Top o' the world, Ma!
Nice work. :)
Rawk!!
The hills are alive with the sound of RAWK
Banana is getting ready for a great new year.
Where will it go next year?!!!
wickedwitch x
Phew! That could've gone all sorts of wrong! Glad to have outsmarted the bank holiday post...and know that the banana* is safe, not stuck in a train in a siding... Happy Frost*ie New Year xxx
Quote from: "lyn"not stuck in a train in a siding...
Or....(Insert your own UPS joke)
Maybe we need Eddie Murphy to try and insert it somewhere ;)
banana is packed and ready to go. Kids very sad as they longed to play with it but were only allowed to hold it for the photo!
Saw this (//http://www.thepoke.co.uk/2013/01/01/can-you-say-banana/) just now and thought of this mad adventure. And how most of you would've sounded on New Year's Eve, no doubt. Happy New Year, all!

What a rubbish view. Not a tall building for miles. Rubbish.
Arf! :P
It's been a few weeks since the banana* left Witchy, but where's it gone?
I have it.
I'm trying to reach gabrielfk (currently without success) to arrange delivery.
Will the Banana be joining us at the House Concert......?
Ah. It's in good hands, then. 8-)
I always worry when it's unaccounted for. Carry on, then.
All present and correct.
There is nothing to see here so move on!
Attention: The Banana will be landing in Kingston for delivery to Jem before they take to the stage at Celebr8.2.
If you are lucky enough to be attending the event, keep your eyes (ahem) peeled because it will hopefully not be too far away from the band during their set.
Also, after rather a poor showing at the Frost*Bites gig when Jem actually called for Bananas in the crowd and we produced...one, I'm hoping to find somewhere between now and then to purchase my own banana to wave at the appropriate moment in the set. Where the heck do you buy one from?
If you have one, maybe take it along?
Often Joke shops or fancy dress shops tend to have them. I have no idea why though!
Hooray for the banana tour! I do hope someone photographs that!
Apparently, they're popular at football matches:

Good! I bought the original 3 bananas from an online site sellling party materials such as balloons - just did a Google for 'inflatable banana', as you do... ;)
I'll make sure I dig the Big Banana's brother out of the attic before heading off to Kingston.
We'll be kind of stuck if they don't play BLM... :P
I'm sure they'll play at least part of it. They can give their epics the Genesis medley treatment. As long as they don't throw in a chorus of That's All.
I love Thats All ;)
But Your Own Special Way would be taking the mickey.
heh
me, too.
And as for In Too Deep... ;)
Keep it dark.
I like That's All, just not thrown in the middle of I Know What I Like, along with Illegal Alien and Follow You Follow Me.
The banana has landed.
I assume you have documentary evidence?
btw my photo of it with Martin Orford has been moved to my Flickr page here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dueyc
According to Twitter, the Banana got left behind at The Hippodrome by mistake and Jem was very anxious that it was looked after for safe return to himself. Maybe the nana likes travelling and does not want to go "Home"? :D
OK folks.
Where can we send it next?
;D
Has it been located and removed to a safe place?
I read the banana has been recovered.
Banana documentary evidence, as requested! ;)
yay!!
Jem's thinking WTF
That photo makes me smile. I'm so pleased to see it in his hands, even if temporarily.
When I saw John Wesley with Sound of Contact the other day, I was almost going to ask him if he remembered signing an inflatable banana for you, AJ, but didn't for fear of it being one embarrassing conversation if he didn't! However, LFE told me Mouse had exactly that conversation with him and he did! 8)
I have some nice hi-res pictures of the banana cuddling event, sharp enough the read all of the signatures (well, the ones on the side facing the camera, at least 8)). Will make some available via my flickr account when I've had time to develop them ...
More's the pity that I never managed to have the banana visit me at home, so that's one signature that's unfortunately missing ... :'(

Here, here me too! Here's to hoping for the next giant fruit to travel the world!! (hint hint) ;) Or maybe a giant biscuit?
Hmm...well the banana is back with me now...I wonder if a short/fast hop or two could be allowed?

Ah, I remember thinking I must read that later :-[ :-[
Speaking of the blog... um... where's it gone?
Ah. Never mind. I see it's gone HERE (http://www.planetfrost.com/)
So, now that the banana* has been delivered and returned to Pedro, could it travel some more? And if so, any chances we pick up on that plan of sending it over to me in Brazil? Or am I still absolutely distrusted for not replying a message for more than three months? ::)
Jem is now custodian of the banana. Getting it to him was a bit of trial and error but he did get it in the end.
Dang! I really should come here more often.
But hey, thanks for the response.
Yes, sorry gabrielkfl, we got the point of needing to hand over to him at Celebr8.2 last year. :(
