I'll see you there then chap. :)

:) I'm saving up now.
Doesn't the support get paid these days? :)
Bilston sounds good thanks to my Mothy mate ! I'll PM you fella! :D
Just realised Bilston is on the Sunday, so I could have got to Wath on the Saturday. Oh well, probably not much in it. Anyone know what time's kick off?
PS mods, I think the sticky at the top of this section is 4 years out of date :o

I'd better get learning those Human League lyrics again for another sing-along then... ;)
"Doesn't the support get paid these days?" I was about to say, I've no idea chuck, you would need to ask them. :)
Folks in flat caps, Troopers in Tricorns? Well I hope Audinary World is in the set. :)
Seems I'm doing Wath and staying over for Bilston too. I was at the Lazuli gig at Maltby as discussing with Nellie how I was considering going to Bilston as I wasn't back at work on the Monday after and was considering staying over.
Next thing two tickets were in my hand and I had been relieved of a £30 in notes that were in my hand. Damn she is fast!
It's going to make a change being able to have a beer before and afterwards.
I shall be attending Wath wi't'lad (who'll be a teenager by then - how'd that happen?!?!?).
I'll buy some tickets as soon as my wallet has recovered from our little trip to Iceland last week.
Fogeyspasm I think Mrs Moth and I will be staying at the hotel too. It's a luxury expense I guess, but it'll be great to maybe bump in to some Frost*ies.

Aww, thanks Jake. Don't they look a mean & moody bunch!?
They look like they're about to "sort someone out". You better come to these gigs or the boys will be round!
I might attend my first Frost* gigs in June ! Still unsure about it, it will be quite a busy month for me as I'll be moving from Paris to Australia (which is pretty much the other side of the world) the following week-end ;-)
But it would be a shame to miss what could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity don't you think ?
Waiting for a buddy to answer me and I could do both in a raw :-)
Go for it! Frost* gigs are unlike any other - a unique combination of mind blowing musicianship and extreme silliness. A quick trawl of live footage on YouTube will show you what I mean (Frost* trumpet monkey arse etc! ;D)
You should definitely do it because it could be years before they do any more gigs. You never know with Frost*!
The venues are small and they will probably all sell out. It's unlikely that there will be any more UK gigs other than these so get your tickets as soon as possible or you'll kick yourself.
I know right, I really wish I could get tix now but I still have a few persons/entities approval needed.
I'm not moving to Australia every fortnight either, so it's kind of hard for me to plan things in another country in the middle of what should be really intense and stressfull days with tears and goodbyes to the old continent. :P
As a matter of interest, what crime are they deporting you for?

e/ Haha, na I'm a French teacher for speakers of other languages so... well, France is not the best job spot for me.

I'm not good enough (at English) to feel comfortable with my job, and I'm also not good enough to be decently paid :P
What the heck are "Wath" and "Bilston" ? Heh
I'm trying to find a way to attend a gig travelling with megabus but those cities seem hardly accessible when you don't have a car.
Wath (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wath-upon-Dearne) and Bilston (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilston) are both small towns. You'd be looking at Megabus to Sheffield or Birmingham respectively and then local buses/trains to visit those places if you are coming from afar.
Standard disclaimer - I've not visited either, but do remember Wath-on-Dearne from the DC Cook adverts of my youth ("Look once, look twice, look for the DC Cook sign").

Coming from Paris but I'm moving to Oz on June 24th
So, while coming from Paris less than a week before such an event is a bit inconsiderate, coming from my brand new Oz house might be real crazy - and actually, financially out of question heh.
Fly from Paris to Edinburgh on the 17th?
Can't fly, way too expensive for me :/ I'm planning to take some 1€ 15 hours long megabus line :-)
People are coming from Japan and USA to see Frost* :-)
Edinburgh gig is not far off selling out so if anyone is thinking about going, get your tickets pronto!
People are crazy :-)
If I can't make it to the June shows I'll print life-sized pictures of the band (the website pics) and design my new house in Australia with Frost* members on the wall, then I'll buy two versions of Falling Satellite and will play them at the same time at two different places of my house so it's kind of stereo and If I don't put my glasses on, it'll be just like a live performance

Of course, but, although this sounds ridiculous, it isn't just about the musicians! It's that Frost*ie feeling too - listen to the cheers at the end of JM's solo and realise what it's like to be "one in a crowd" and all digging the same band muchly :D
Also, although it's not very clear, at that gig we were ALL wearing Santa masks (albeit partly stored on heads).
I wonder how that felt to play in front of a threatening crowd made of Santas.
Actually, you're not wrong there! I was there with my daughter Kate and she got really freaked out when she turned around and saw a couple of hundred impassive Santas staring back at her so Lord knows what it was like for the band! :o ;D
When I got the Christmas decorations down from the attic last December, I found our Santa masks in the box so we still have them. 8)

Ok, dudes, I'm heaps sad but I won't be able to attend any Frost* gigs this year. As I said earlier, I'm moving to Australia a few days after the gigs, and I'll be very busy. I have to fly to see my dad who lives in South of France (I'm from Paris) and as we both work so much, the only week I was able to visit him was that specific Frost* one.
I hope that you'll all have a great time and make beautiful pictures (I know some of you are super talented) so it will be kind of like I was there.
Thanks Mike for your offer of driving me if ever I could get close to any gig place, that was much appreciated, you're awesome.
That's a shame :(
I know it's of no use to you right now but the word was that Frost* is going to try and get some European dates in for 2017 (though I suspect that travel from Oz is expensive :-\ )
Either way it hopefully won't be too long before there's another chance at seeing the boys live. :)
I also won't be able to meet a friend from UK that I wanted to see but I'll say the same thing about him and about Frost*
If it's meant to be, it will happen :-)
FWIW, courtesy of Jem saying things were selling out, me panicking, then employing the good offices of my bank and Nellie, there are now Frost* tix for Edinburgh & London on the side of our fridge 8)
Am hoping to be able to make both gigs ;)
Good stuff! 8) Hope we'll get a chance to catch up at Edinburgh.

Old-crowd hopeful here. Bilston ticket-holder checking in.
Alas left it late for Edinburgh - originally thought I couldn't make it - now can! If anyone has a spare ticket/changes their plans, please let me know and I'll happily buy it off you!
Speaking of Edinburgh (as we were), I finally got my act together and started to look at travel plans. First major surprise was realising that the gig is on Friday 17 June, rather than 15 June as my calendar has had it for weeks. Which is a bit embarassing, inasmuch as I was planning other things around that date, cancelling things around 15 June and arranging things for 17 June. Some emails will need to be sent.
But in checking the Voodoo Rooms website, I also noted the fairly long band bio, which includes some words that we all here should be rather happy about 8)
QuoteWith a new album release scheduled for 2016 and with an already existing legendarily loyal and deeply committed fanbase, Frost* are now finally ready to cement their reputation as one of the leading progressive rock acts of the 21st century.

Many would say we should be committed... :P
Hope to see you on the 17th!
Didn't make a note of the date when you tweeted a photo of your tickets on May 1st ;) https://twitter.com/markmccaughrean/status/726756314123259904 ;)
And I'm sure I might have mentioned a few times that the gig is on my birthday which is the 17th ;D
For some reason, 15 June got locked into my head, and all evidence to the contrary (the tickets, photos, Mike's birthday) was insufficient to unlock it.
It's very much a case of "Too many inputs, Mr Mozart" at the moment, I'm afraid.
At the very least, they are playing Reading on the 15th so maybe that's what caused your wires to get crossed?

Hmm, using that quote from Peter Shaffer's play (or was that line just in the film?) was rather poignantly timed on my part. RIP.
Less than a week to go now! ;D
Right you lot, get your Reading tickets before it's too late.
Edinburgh is totally sold out.
Wath is looking tight and nearly sold out, Bilston is ok at the moment as it's huge but there's usually a good walk-up so might be worth getting tickets if you're planning to come.
Bristol is ok at the moment but it's on a boat and will be supercool!

OK, time to get serious, folks. Has anyone picked a meeting place (preferably with fermented malt beverages on tap) in Edinburgh for Friday this week?

The Guildford Arms is just round the corner, but does tend to be pretty busy (as does the main bar at the venue itself), but as DS hints, Rose Street and it's many pubs isn't that far away.
No idea when I'll get through for, but hopefully will run into a few of you at the venue, though I suspect it'll be pretty crowded :)

What's parking like at Bilston? I've never been
There's a big car park right outside the venue. Free IIRC
Phew... Broke after parking at Reading... £10=0.66 of a t-shirt or best part of a cd...
That's where local knowledge helps. For future reference (hoping they play Reading again) the cheapest parking is at the Oracle Riverside. A bit further away but still an easy walk, and a flat rate of £3.50 after 6pm.
Thanks! ;)

Weatherspoons down the road at Wath. Only 5 minute walk from venue.
Can't remember any other pubs worthy of a mention & I'll be there
Home, quick food, quick change (MT tee :D)... then to the station... music!

Excellent! 😁
Hey guys!!!!
The Edinburgh gig was just simply phenomenal. Jem, John, Nathan and Craig all played an absolute blinder. I took lots of photos so if you want to see them all then befriend me on Facebook (my real name is William Winsborough).
Nellie was kind enough to exchange my defective vinyl copy of Falling Satellites and after the gig, I got to meet and have a chat with the guys. They are all so down to earth.
For those that are still to see the band on the upcoming tour, you are all surely in for a treat. :D
Now I need to go to bed. ;)
Re:Bilston parking
There is afree car park right outside the venue, but if that's full there is another car park down the right hand side of the police station (opposite the front of the Robin).
Hopefully enough for all of us!!!! :o
Unfortunately I couldn't hang around after the gig last night but it was still great to finally see the boys do their thing in the flesh.
Hopefully I'll get another chance in the future to have a chat with them. :)

Whose going to the Wath gig? :) (Im bringing Frost* virgins!!!)
Anyone an expert of the Wath area? For pubs, food etc?
I too will be supplying a virgin
I'm a virgin :O (but I'm not coming to the gig this year)
Can't wait to be un-virgin-ised by Jem during the next tour tho ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ;D

Oooh Matron! :o ;)
Just back home from Edinburgh. Very enjoyable gig last night - no set spoilers but it came very close to what I wanted to hear this time around. The new material sounded great. The band all played brilliantly, especially considering that Jem woke with next to no voice and Craig was 'coming apart at the seams' quite literally. :o
Great to catch up with Frost*ies old and new and to say hi to Nellie (ta for the Frost*erisk shortbread 8)), Jem and watch TA having an interesting chat with JM!
Hope everyone enjoys the next few gigs - you're in for a treat. 8)
Yep, was great fun, great music, and great company from the fellow Frosties I caught (DS, TA and MikeEvs)!
Also ended up chatting to Colin Fraser and Ronnie Brown of Pallas who were just behind me.
A few photos even turned out ok :D
I hope Jem's voice hold together for the next couple of gigs... but at least there's a good break before the rest of the tour.
And big round of applause for Blunders, playing a blinder under no doubt difficult circumstances.
Just thought I would add a few words to an amazing performance. First of all thanks to Kiama for a great support set. Then when the boys came on they really blew me away, especially the drumming. How anyone can drum so well I have no idea. And also a special thanks to the few people I spoke to, such a friendly lot especially the guy from Loughborough (I think was called Rob) who rode 78 miles on his bike to get there. Now thats dedication!
Oh and yes the biscuits as well.
:)
Good morning Frost*ies.
I have been reading the reports from you of the gigs so far and must admit to being genuinely exited to see the lads live for the first time.
As the time till the Bilston gig gets ever closer I was wondering if any of the attendees have arranged a place for a pre gig tipple.
If so where? I presume Woody's bar next door to the Robin 2 is the obvious choice, but if anybody has any other ideas please let me know.
Also do Frost*ies have a secret way of revealing their identity to each other or set up camp with a flag in the corner of the room or what?
Today's the day. :) So reading back through all that, did we settle on a place for potential pre gig drinkies? Lol
They played a blinder last night! Need more be said? ;) Broken guitar strings, rescue vocals did not hinder this show at all!
And I had the opportunity to chat with Nathan and John after the show :) Unfortunately I left it too long to speak to Jem and Craig (I don't like butting in on other people conversations).
Amazing night overall :)
Although I took my camera to the Edinburgh gig, I decided early on to concentrate on the music and not try and worm my way round the very small room trying to get angles, change lenses, so on. So, I only took a few, but thought I'd offer one of each of Jem, Craig, John, and Nathan for your delight.
From where I standing next to MikeEvs & DS, Nathan and John were close by, but Jem was on the other side of the stage and Craig hidden behind the drum kit until the final bow. Anyway ...
As for the music, well, it was Frost*, wasn't it? 8) Tremendous stuff, even though Jem's voice was in a less-than-perfect state thanks to a cold and overstrain, and Craig was apparently nursing his wounds, although you simply wouldn't have known the latter, given the pasting he gave to the kit.
I mean, despite being a decent-length gig, it was over far too soon, and I was immediately faced with a sense of "I'm very lucky to be able to have seen them many times, but it's never enough!". Set-wise, we're all agreeing to avoid spoilers, but there was a well-pitched mix of old and new, and while the former clearly brought the biggest reactions, it's no doubt partly because the "Falling Satellitas" (sic) stuff hasn't sunk into our dancing bones quite as deeply yet. That said, the tunes have buried themselves deep inside: my life at the moment has them playing constantly in my mind, whether I like it or not (fortunately, I quite like it).
As I said, had the pleasure of DS & MikeEvs company during the evening, along with other familiar faces, not least The Queen of the Merch Desk (and so, so much more), who it's always a huge joy to see. She's such a michievous pixie.
And as for what JM and I were talking about after, as reported by DS, well, obviously it was about whether Neptune counts as a gas giant (nope, it's an ice giant), and whether Jupiter has a solid, rocky, metallic, or no core at all 8)
Roll on London, where I get to do it all over again.
The pix are here for the time being: will upload elsewhere later.

To be fair, Ice Giant seems a fairly recent piece of terminology... and hopefully Juno can help narrow down the options on Jupiter's core :)
Anyway, was great to meet you lot, and hopefully it won't be 8 years until next time :D
I wasn't there to take photos and those that I did were pretty rubbish but I liked these 2, just because of the joy on the faces, especially Nathan on the 1st one. :)

John and Nathan, decent enough as both were fairly well lit. (Bend it like Mitchell? :D)
Jem and Craig, bit trickier as they were less well lit... i went with a shot from the short drum solo for Blunders, captures it nicely I feel :)
I was already a fan before I read this topic but now it has evolved into being a damn fangirl for the following reasons :
- John talks about planets after gigs
- Jem is such a hottie
- Nathan looks so cool
- Craig has a Zelda and a Floyd shirt (one does love triangles)
Tote in love with the boys.
Hope you guys enjoyed your gigs <3
Very good pictures from all of youse.
The boys were simply stunning in Bilston this evening. It's nearly 5 years since I last saw Frost* and tonight was like a step back in time to happy gig-times.
Sorry I missed most of you, I only managed to catch up with Sawtooth.
Indeed, fantastic show at Bilston - the boys were on top form and the new material was awesome live.
Props to Kiama as well for kicking off the night in style, to a larger than usual support crowd. And Nellie was busy on merch duties so hopefully everyone got whatever they were after :D :D
I was even more unsociable I'm afraid. I miscalculated the M6 roadworks and Kiama's opening time: I only caught the last 3 songs :( :( What I heard was good though. By the time I'd pratted about, back to the car, etc, and got back Jem walked onstage. And I don't know if there was a meet and greet after, I decided I'd better head back.
The boys were fab though. Loved it (and it had never sunk how good Nath is). Only complaint: if Springsteen can do 3hrs why can't Jem?! No seriously, just ace. I thought the new songs worked really well, too
There was a meet & greet of sorts - Blunders & JM were out and about reasonably shortly after the set. Managed to catch a quick chat with Blunders who said he was still suffering a bit (no that it showed).
Jem was packing away his gear and was chatting to people from the stage.
I left shortly after that as I'd got an early start today ::)
Well as it turned out we were running a little late, so we only nipped in Woody's to ... "freshen up". But what a spectacular show. The first bonus was Kiama. For some reason I was sure that they wouldn't be there that night and it was going to be a couple of less than sensible chaps with appropriate head gear. But I was stood there having a prefrost pint and I heard a voice saying, "Hi we're Kiama!". Ah, lovely. :)
Then Frost themselves were just wondreful, as I told Jem afterwards. I had to remind him of the significance of Wondreful. Lol.
The band were so tight with all the incredible soul and technique we've come to expect. The highlight for me was the 30 minute closing section. Fantastic that they could pull that off. Only slightly ruined by the couple of chaps with pretruberences in their foreheads who insisted on carrying on their chat through out the quiet and poignant Last Day. But we must rise abuv such things. :) All I say is, if they're on this forum, they know what they did, but we'll try to forgive them.
My only gripe is a predictable one. No Million Town. I know they get sick of playing it, ... but come oooooooonnn!! :) Ah well.
But it was all fabtastic.
I got to finally say hello to Jem, and I think one of the highlights was that John recognised me. Lol. Also managed to say hi to Mr Blundell but sadly missed Mr King.
Finally, great to bump in to a couple of Frost*ies. :) Altogether, a brilliant night and one for the old memmory banks. :)
So!
My lovely girlfriend Jen and I frequented both the Wath and Bilston gigs this weekend. We travelled up to Wath on Saturday, checked into the Rotherham Holiday Inn and then headed to the Wetherspoons' just down the road for the venue for a quick bite to eat before the gig. We visited Meadowhall in Sheffield on the Sunday before making our way to Bilston for the second gig and a McDonalds.
Kiama were great with some excellent musicianship and a pretty big and tight sound ever all. There was a girl singing with them whose name is not mentioned on the band's list of members but I really felt she added a certain something to the sound so I wonder if she might become a permanent fixture.
Frost* were, of course, excellent. It was great to hear some of the new songs performed live and the band seemed to be having a blast on stage. There were some good laughs and the gages were not exactly the same between shows. Now, I'm not sure whether there is a problem with my ears or the position we were stood, but I did find it difficult to feel what was going on in 'The Raging...', I wondered if it was perhaps a difficult song to translate to live from a 'front of house' point of view as it's very bass heavy. The choruses felt fine, it was just the verses that I couldn't fully appreciate. It was also a shame not to hear a bit more from Experiments... but I understand the reasoning. They can't play everything!
It was nice to bump into Tim/Mouse (Who hasn't posted here since 2013, it seems), Fogey, and meet the infamous Rob Rideout. We bought even more T-shirts from Nellie (who appeared to be following us around) and I swapped my defective Vinyl for a new one. We also chatted to some nice people in the queue at Bilston but I wasn't sure of their names despite recognising them from Wath and possibly even some earlier gigs also.
It's great to experience the big F* back in action, long may it continue
Just Bristol (on a boat!) to look forward to next month now :D

Indeed. And he plays guitar in Level 42 - sheesh! :o
Nath is clearly one of those people I deem 'slappably good' at a variety of instruments (as in give him a slap and tell him to stop showing off, but in a tongue in cheek, envious way).
Next album I forsee them all swapping instruments for a song and still being equally good (I know JM plays bass, Jem also plays guitar/chapman stick etc, and Blunders plays other instruments as well).

I was talking to my brother about the gig & we got onto Level 42 & he said Mark King plays bass, I had to revert to Mr Wiki to prove myself wrong.
Playing guitar and looking cool I give you Mr Nathan King on stage with Level 42 at Colston Hall Bristol 2010:

Yes the Synth playing from Mr King was pretty damn impressive. I must say, I had been wondering just how the heck he was going to do that on the bass guitar. :) It would be a cool experiment indeed if the guys swapped instruments for a track. We kept joking about that in that band I was in recently, but we never tried it. :)
In case anyone's missed it, the stage times for Ramblin Man on Saturday have been released.
Frost* are on from 2:15 to 2:55
Full details here: http://clashfinder.com/s/jakdoboi/
Craig said on twitter that they get 30 minutes....
That's knocked the sunlight suite on the head then, milliontown maybe, then first day?
Soooo... what was the abbreviated Ramblin set?
"This song is called 'Dear Black Numb Heart Rage'..."
Numbers, Hyperventilate, Signs and BLM.
Great sound at the front..
Wow. Nice for an appetizer. I'm disappointed for the fans, though. Off so quickly. As a festival goer, one would hope to get at least 45 min to an hour of each band. Maybe next year Ramblin' Man will coordinate schedules with the wedding venue to avoid such conflicts (wishful thinking, I know). Anyway, thanks for the info. Loved the shirts. I'm sure it went down a treat.
Wow, that is a bit of an on and off job isn't it. The joys of festivals. :)
There was a wedding in the church next to the park so there was a halt for music which meant that the boys' set was cut short.
