Just been listening to the 'new' tracks from Steven Wilson's upcoming album. Whilst I have the albums and have been to the gigs, it struck me that the change of direction which people seem up in arms about is no such thing. OK it has no time signature changes and instrumental breaks etc, but its pretty derivative at best. There is nothing anywhere near as radical as Towerblock for example, which I suspect would have Wilson fans reaching for the Fast forward button. Quite why Jem in Frost guise is not enjoying the same level of success as Mr Wilson is beyond me. From a prog perspective, had Wilson produced something like The Dividing Line it would be hailed as the second coming but alas it remains in the domain of a select but highly enlightened audience. IMHO this success lark is all back to front. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to 13 Winters very much and Future Bites slightly less so.

Yeah. But then Jem was responsible for Atomic Kitten's "The Tide is High". So there's that ;)
