Hasn't been well advertised - just by a kind soul on the Big Big Train Facebook group.
Got my seated ticket this morning
http://mamacolive.com/theforum/listings/upcoming-events/11935/transatlantic/
Thanks for posting Tim.
I've just bought my ticket - also seated.
And one for the IQ Xmas bash while I was at it.
I do so struggle with Transatlantic: I quite like the music, but I only wish that there was a purely instrumental version, so that I wouldn't have to listen to Mr Morse's endless paeans to the imaginary white beardy man ... It's just endless drivel, lyrically.
Yep, that's pretty much my take on 'em, TA!
got tickets yesterday whoo hoo

Hmm - I would wholly accept that comment for Neal's own post-Spock's material (I'm a big fan of his music but rather struggle with that aspect myself) but don't think that is fair / true of Transatlantic. The first 2 albums were released before he 'got God' and whilst you can read parts of The Whirlwind as being religious, they are certainly not as 'in your face' as his solo works.
I think it is well worth putting up with any religious overtones - the Manchester gig I attended with a couple of Frost*ies in 2010 was three and a half hours of the finest prog I have ever witnessed live.

Well, in keeping with the spirit of things (cough), I have to confess (double cough) that I've only heard / own The Whirlwind, so it's perhaps unfair of me to generalise too far. But I'd disagree about The Whirlwind's lyrics not being overly religious, DS: every time a track shuffles on to the iPhone, I'm always struck by how transparently (and tediously) Christian the lyrics are.
Wilf on The European Perspective also reckons he's able to screen that stuff out, but I find that it irritates me endlessly and I quite often just skip to the next track ... :-\
Never really had an issue with TA's lyrics. I can hear some religious overtones in a few songs but they're subtle enough not to bother me. They're nowhere near as bad as in later Spock's or his solo stuff.
And I don't have a problem with those albums anyway. The lyrics can be about whatever the hell he wants really - the music is what's great.
But on the note related more closely to the thread, I'm just going to reiterate how much it majorly sucks being in Australia, away from all these awesome touring bands.
We are having Steven Wilson out in a few weeks time though so that should be SWEET.
To get back to the original topic, where else in the world are they playing in March??

This thread needs some serious diverting: it's as if some denizens have forgotten the true purpose of the forum ... :P
So, I have to report that after dinner in the Lokál on Dlouhá in Prague:
(a) Beer cheese is is strong. Very strong. Thank goodness for the bread it came with.
(b) Unpasteurised Pilsner Urquell in a "tankovna" is much better than the pasteurised stuff sold for export. But even then, it doesn't come close (IMHO) to a decent real ale.
(c) If the Olympics ever select beer drinking as a sport, the Czechs will win gold, silver, and bronze. My god, these people can knock it back. Come within 20% of the bottom of your glass and another 0.5 litres will materialise completely unbidden from the constantly roaming waiters.
(d) Even some of the waitresses are confused about (or try and bullshit the tourist about) the difference between "hladinka", "snyt", and "mliko" versions of the same beer, which relate the amount of foam head. I didn't try a "mliko", but something tells me you need to be a real specialist to drink a beer mug full only of foam in a oner.
Thank you. You may carry on.

Just the one date in the UK then! ;)

Oh, I do. It's like a broken record constantly slagging off Brian Cox.
And as for his actual singing, especially after a few post-Peel beers and a curry/kebab.... :( :o :'(
Neal Morse's lyrics & vocalmay not be to everyone's liking but listening to his post-spock efforts (if you can get past the preaching of the lyrics) you really get a sense of how good Morse is at creating a sonic landscape.
His works are always big & meaty and adding 3 equally talented gents to the mix only betters things.
Quite interested to see this one, especially with the new album in the works.

Even I'll buy one of those at that price: heh, heh, heh 8)
(I had also clocked the "TA" coincidence and I am, in fact, Neal Morse. Or perhaps Brian "The Only Thing Larger Than The Universe Itself" Cox).
(And chance'd be a fine thing for a post-gig beer, curry, and an astrophysical sing-a-long, but you scarpered immediately after Moon Safari, thereby missing the opportunity, RH).
