Title: Frost's* "Juno" tuned to A=432 BLM pt. 2 actually
Post by: Jim Takacs on October 19, 2013, 04:31:09 PM
I retuned the entire re-release of Milliontown to A-432. Sorry but I do hear and feel a difference.   Yes I renamed the song..  Can You tell why? This may drive Jem Bat Shit Crazy...  :)  https://www.dropbox.com/s/yxao1iz4ww1p4ys/BL%20Machine%20Pt2%20A%3D432Hz.mp3

Yes  :)

I have no idea what A=432 means though

The A-432 runs from Bristol to Old Sodbury.

This is the A=432 description..  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5ILuyaZIO4
Deeper info.  http://www.echad.se/echad-science-tuning/the-natural-a432-scale

I am in no way calling this whole thing a "conspiracy" ,  I just find it interesting and I do actually feel a difference with the altered tuning..

Well...

where to begin.

Let's start with a bit of actual physics (rather than what was in that link)

The speed of light in a vacuum is EXACTLY  299,792,458 metres per second*.

One Nautical mile = 1852 metres

Which means... (drum roll please Mr Blundell) ... The speed of light in a vacuum in nautical miles per second is...

161,874.992 (Not, actually very close to 144,000)

So if there is some kind of universal woo woo link between natural vibrations of sound and the speed of light it would kind of nice if the maths actually worked out wouldn't it?

There are some wonderful bits mathematical elegance out there in the natural world (not least, how often Pi crops up in stuff, not necessarily to do with circles) but this, as it happens is not one of them. :)

However, even slowed down by 1.8% BLM is still a work of genius

*This is exactly, because SI units are derived from repeatedly observable universal constants, and the SI unit of length, the metre = the length of the path traveled by light in vacuum during a time interval of 1/299,792,458 of a second.

Its Not slowed down at all. Its time stretched Mr Smarty pants!   :P

Good grief. I can't believe that I actually went to those websites and sullied my brain. Rarely have I seen such deeply concentrated balderdash and, as an astrophysics professor, I've been on the receiving end of some pretty special unsolicited manuscripts in my time. I mean:

...the fundamental harmonic of light in geometric terms has an angular velocity of 144,000 minutes of arc per grid second. The reciprocal harmonic of light or 1/144,000  repeating .69444. This harmonic refers to the negative reciprocal light, which in theory forms the basic building block of the  anti-universe of light or negative reality.

Not only is it utter bilge, it's not even mathematically correct, as MOM has noted.

If you value your sanity or a belief that, deep down, humans are sane, rational beings, I beg you not to go to this site, linked from the original A=432 claptraperous one: https://www.spiritualresults.com (https://www.spiritualresults.com)

(JimT: don't take it personally; as a Frost* fan, you're exempt from guilt by association  ;))

I'll second that good grief. That is about as scientific as homeopathy. I wonder if James Randi has had a go at it yet?

I will admit that there is something disquieting and uncomfortable in the YouTube clip. I would wager though that if the first clip was at A=440 and the second at A=456 (or something like that) the effect would be the same, I.E. It is an insult to my sense of relative pitch hearing them consecutively.

Not to knock any strong beliefs that some people may have on that subject but I'm siding with TA and Rook with this.

The clips don't really justify anything other than the fact that 2 pitches sound different. It's like how F major is generally the worst key to write in for a choir because it's the most difficult key to keep in tune.

I'm also turned off from this subject due to the uploader's incredible bias against the A=440. What was with the Nazi comment? It hardly seems relevant.

Though I do find the subjects of 'equal temperament' and 'A=440 as the most accepted standard' quite interesting I cannot get on board with that guy's line of thinking...seems too irrational for my tastes.

I'm not going to jump into the astrophysics argument, looks like TA has it covered for us :P.

However I will say that the only difference I hear is that it sounds flat. I know that A 432 was used in the Baroque era and such for concert tuning, but today to me it just sounds flat.

Cant believe nobody has questioned why I called it "Juno"..   :o  The words are "And You Know...." Not "And Juno"  The second to last time Jem sings it, it sounds right..   :P :P :P   None the less, One of the BEST compositions of this century!  ;)
