As the man says in his post (lest anyone think that I found this :) ), the picture from the Hornby catalogue of a Frost*-graffiti'd freight train wagon is singularly agog-making :o
http://www.planetfrost.com/post/59853195721/ive-been-immortalised-by-hornby-im-absolutely (http://www.planetfrost.com/post/59853195721/ive-been-immortalised-by-hornby-im-absolutely)
Surely a leg pull, I hear you say, but no:
http://www.hornby.com/shop/rolling-stock/freight-rolling-stock/r6628-graffiti-wagon (http://www.hornby.com/shop/rolling-stock/freight-rolling-stock/r6628-graffiti-wagon)
Just how did this happen? Does Jem run around at night tagging wagons as they roll through the leafy East Sussex cuttings and, if so, why would he be quite so daft as to write his own name, let alone the band's and the Frost*erisk?
Add in the "Maximum rock!" symbol on the other side of the wagon, and I'm left wondering quite who "Kata :-*" is in the Frostie*verse, what "Peor1" means, and, most scarily of all, what we're to make of (what I think says) "The beard is out there".
Completely bonkers way to be immortalised, Mr G ;)
(Edit: a further check reveals that only 1,000 of this £6.99 limited edition contemporary Hornby wagon were made: I wonder how many will be snaffled up in short order by denizens of this board? :P)
(Further edit: they're out of stock :-\)
Well I never. That's insane!
"The Beard is Out There" is the name of a Spock's Beard live album, which surely can't be a coincidence?
What I want to know is, how did he spot it? Not only is it on a model train website (model trains? Really Jem?), it is three branches into the menu. Obviously looking to update his OO gauge (which suffers from inaccurate scaling, BTW. EM gauge and P4 scale are much more accurate) rolling stock...

I am absolutely perplexed / blown away by this. How the hell did it happen? It can surely be no coincidence!

Easy Tiger, I had model trains once. When I was 7... ;) ;D ;) ;D
Surely there must be copyright infringements here. I'm sure there are many fast pounds to be made here, enough for a christmas party?. Give Lionel Hutz a ring.... ;)

I still have boxes of my model trains, and finally have some space in the basement to think about a layout. I would love one of these cars. ;D

I preferred scalextric. I await their next catalogue with hope and expectation. Otherwise, seriously good

I had my first Scalextrix when I was one (1961!). My dad said I really wanted it....
It's back in stock now. :)

None in the model shop in Bury St Edmunds last Saturday morning... Maybe next time!

Flippy Neck! Are they making them one at a time??
Well they take a full size one and get Jem to graffiti it, then they shrink it down using 'Wonkavision' before they package it up and sell it.
heh
And most of the frosterisks went down with the website, so the raw materials aren't there either
Maybe their till goes.... "Bee ching" :D

I can't keep it in any longer! It was me, I work in product development at Hornby. Following on from this I did a series of made up locos called - 'Morse Collieries', 'Portnoy Collieries', 'Trewavas Aggregates', 'Stolt Industries', 'Gildenlow Salt Co.' and 'Transatlantic industries'.
They all went to production and no one twigged the connection

Brilliant! Well played. 8)
I once wrote a serious article for my profession's magazine and managed to slip in some Rush song titles and lyrics, just to see if anyone would notice. Thought I'd got away with it until months later at a conference someone said "Oh, I see you're a Rush fan!". ;D But having prog train sets, now that's something else!
heh
awesome! and welcome!! ;D

Welcome aguynamedsid, nice work...but sadly the item is no longer listed on the Hornby site. :(
I hope you are still listed on the Hornby payroll! ;)
Right Ho Frosties! Ideas time, I've been asked to do another 'graffiti' wagon. Any good Prog band logo suggestions???
Also for your info there will be a selection of Marillion locos early next year. 'Rothery Industries' etc.
How about tinyfish? or Lazuli?
Or Rush, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Yes, It Bites, etc, etc! There's a whole railway network waiting to be 'progged'! ;)
Yes and the prism from Dark Side of the Moon... ???

Absolutely! Just let us know when it's finished!
Might add Spock's Beard or Enchant (might find the logos for you). And what about a re-run of Frost??
Update on latest PRog wagon!
Other side!
Nice 8)
I saw a Frost* one last week. I nearly laughed but the owner wouldn't have thought much of it
Excellent!!
Cool!! :D
Oh, and let us know if/where to buy it! Would be cool collectors items. Are any of the older editions with prog stuff still available?

I need these.
