Announcements / To any potential Frosties watching

What-ho!

Due to what I think is a large amount of spambots attempting to join our happy tribe, I have to sadly announce that I won't accept any more registrations with numbers in. I'm getting things like rinton245 and gdfar23 at the moment which look highly suspect to me. We're all too busy to start deleting spam from our little corner of the universe.

Here endeth the doodah. Time for tea! :D

Announcements / More Frost and Dream Theater
March 13, 2009, 05:06:58 PM
Hurrah!

After much arm wrestling and drunken games of Celebrity Death Canasta, those mad chimps we know and love as DT have invited us out to Europe for a couple more shows, namely -

June 18th - Lisbon Portugal -  Coliseum de Lisboa

June 23rd - Munich Germany - Tollwood Musikzelt

So come along if you dare and bring baked flour based confection. We will rock your world and other nearby worlds assuming they have a glass held up against the wall of our world and can hear us.

In case you hadn't heard ;-)

This just in from the Frost Publicity Imp.

"Frost* are well chuffed to announce that we will be supporting Dream Theater at two shows in England this summer. These shows are:

  12th June  Leeds 02 Academy
  13th June  Southampton Guildhall

Dream Theater and Frost* fans will know that Mike Portnoy nominated Experiments in Mass Appeal as one of his favourite albums of 2008.  Whilst we were were unable to take up the offer of playing on DT's Progressive Nation tour of the US this year, we're thrilled to be asked to play these shows following our appearance at RoSFest in May."

Announcements / Toys - The Pedro Video
February 17, 2009, 11:15:38 PM
Can I just say that our very own Pedders has garnered in excess of 10,000 viewings of his already stunning video for Toys and is rightly being adored by other LBP fans. It's phenomenal work and I'm chuffed to bits that it's being recognized accordingly.

Pedders, well done mate. An extra big housepoint for a) spreading the word, but b) for creating such an influential work of art! :D

Announcements / New drummer!
February 01, 2009, 01:31:06 AM
Frostingtons,

Thank you for your patience. I can now announce the latest addition to our little troupe.

I'd be delighted if you would please say hello hello to Alex Thomas. He joins us from Squarepusher and Badly Drawn Boy. A good mate of Andy's, he could not be more of a catch if I wanted.

Here he is in action -

Alex will join us after RoSFest. I'm absolutely thrilled to have a musician of Alex's calibre taking over on live duties from TBE and I hope you'll welcome him onboard and make sure he has plenty of biscuits.

Both Alex and Andy will be a part of the forthcoming Frost DVD. I can't wait to show you what he can do. He's just brilliant.

Onwards!

Announcements / Frost at RoSFest
January 24, 2009, 09:34:21 PM
Frost* are very pleased to announce that Nick D'Virgilio will be
joining them for their first American appearance at RoSFest on May 2nd
2009.  Replacing original drummer, Andy Edwards, Nick brings a wealth
of experience and talent to an extremely challenging role.  Nick first
met Frost* when the band supported Spock's Beard on their European
dates during summer 2008.

Jem Godfrey said "I'm really thrilled that Nick has been mad...sorry,
brave...sorry, kind enough to become an honourary Frostie for one of
our most eagerly anticipated performances. We're already working on it
and I think it's going to be a belter of a show. We can't wait."

Nick D'Virgilio said "WHOO HOOO!!! I get to be a Frostie for a day!"

"Seriously, after Spock's and Frost toured I knew they were a great
band with great music. But I was never really able to get into the
music that deeply on tour because I was always getting ready for the
Spock's set while they were on stage. Then recently I was asked to sit
in for the Rosfest show. I said yes immediately and then started really
listening closely to the CD's. Man-o-man do I have my work cut out for
me. In a great way. I am very excitied to be a part of this gig and
thank you FROST for having me along."

Announcements / Frost Shows Cancelled
January 23, 2009, 10:38:06 AM
We're sorry to announce that Frost will be unable to play the double headliner shows with Magenta on Friday April 10th at the Boerderij and Saturday April 11th at The Rock Temple.

This is due to the continued inability to find a replacement drummer for Andy.

Jem says, "In truth, there is a guy who I am really keen to have in the band, but he's on tour with another band during the month that we're scheduled to play these shows.

As you know, Frost's music is hardly something that you can teach a chap in a couple of hours and it's this that is providing us with the problem. Combined with my already very intense dayjob schedule, it's simply going to be impossible for me to spend February finding a dep, every weekend in March teaching the dep how to play our set back to front only to have to repeat the who teaching procedure again with the new drummer after that.

Obviously, I know you're thinking, "Why not just keep the dep then?" but if you've already found the right girl, metaphorically speaking, you're hardly going to start snogging her mate shortly before she moves in with you. And I believe, with the man in question, I've found the right girl. If you see what I mean"

Magenta will still be performing on these dates and RWPL will be taking over our slot.

Again, sincere apologies to those who were looking forward to seeing the band, we're very sorry, but hope to catch you out there at some point in the future.

However, Frost would like to reiterate that they WILL performing at RosFest . There'll be a further announcement about this very shortly.

Announcements / Thank Yoo-hoooo!
January 11, 2009, 03:23:50 PM
Hello chaps,

Just got back, terrible 5 mile tailback on the M25, took me 7 hours to get home.

Thank you so much to everybody who came down last night. As you will know, in the best keyboard player stakes, I came second. However, this is not all bad I know that most girls prefer a man who comes second.

Anyway, sorry I didn't get a chance to speak to anybody really afterwards, I was downstairs in a bit of a sulk because I played like such a c***. Really terribly. Sorry about that.

And lastly thank you to Steve Hackett who was really lovely and didn't bat an eyelid when he walked into our dressing room to find me mounting JM.

In a brotherly way, natch.  ;)

Lastly lastly, sorry for the delay in replying to the PMs. I'll try and do it this evening.

Ta muchly,

Jxx

Announcements / Merry Thing
December 26, 2008, 11:03:25 AM
Hello Frosties.

First off, happy merry Yule! I hope you're having a lovely time and am eating and drinking far too much.

Personally, I'm now so fat and bloated that when I walk along the beach, the tide comes in and my kids have started orbiting me.

Secondly, whopper ta to everyone who came down to the gig at The Peel. I had a brilliant time and thank you for making it the night that it was. Sorry I couldn't be there for Tinyfish the next lunchtime, but I had a prior engagement involving yet more alcohol with my best mate and his missus in Hastings.

Anyways, muchos ta again, take care and have a glo-o-o-orious New Year.

Your ever expanding servant,

Jx

It is with no regret whatsoever that I tell you Andy is getting up out of his Frost drum chair, setting fire to it and throwing it out of the window.

Yes, dear TBE is leaving us.

I say no regret whatsoever as technically, he's not leaving Frost altogether, but merely leaving the live unit that is Frost owing to a fantastic new work opportunity that he will explain to you in due course. He will still continue to dip his toe into the Frosty pond from time to time and record stuff with us, but you won't see his lovely visage onstage any more. Think of it as a semi permanent sabbatical in the style of our first guitarist, Mr Johnny Boyes.

That reminds me, I really should dig him up and see if he's alright...

TBE's last gig with us will be the CRS gig on January 10th so if you can come down, please do and give him a goodbye hug. Preferably after we've finished playing.

As for me, I feel that perhaps only one word can sum up how I truly feel...

"Next!"

As you were.  ;)

Announcements / Frost At The Peel - SOLD OUT!
November 17, 2008, 05:17:01 PM
Hellay!

Further to Twang's post, I should announce that as the gig is now sold out, the venue won't be able to admit anyone without a ticket, so if anybody did fancy just showing up on the off chance of getting in, I'd advise you not to, especially if you live a way away from the venue. Not that we wouldn't love to see you, but they wouldn't be able to let you in.

Hope that's ok.

On the other hand, THANK YOU to everybody who bought tickets, we'll try and make it a night to remember! :D

ONWARDS!

I'll probably be tied to a horse and run off a cliff for saying this but...

I just bought the second Evanescence album and I really like it.

I've never really gone for goth rock before, but there's some really lovely moments.
