In the long distant past when Jem was being hassled after the release of 'Milliontown' as to what the next album (OK....CD) was going to be like he said something along the lines of ''...if 'Milliontown' was his 'Tales from ... dah dee dah' then the next one would be like '90125'.  Please correct me accordingly.

On that basis, I suggest 'Hold On' or 'Changes' rather than the obvious 'Owner of etc.'  If Dec's vocals are going to disappear as per 'The Peel' then perhaps earlier in the set rather than later....

Alternativley, as his greatness also recently answered in the 'if you were to do a covers album' question, maybe anything by ELO.

To be honest, the list is endless so I agree with posts above - the missing bits from EIMA. :D

Amazingly, I do know.  Feel a bit sad now....!

Anyway, to answer your question my fellow Frostie person - it was 8 out of 10.  Which, for a new band, was rather excellent, IMHO.

he liked it!! - a few minor quibbles but probably less than have been mentioned on this site since EIMA hit the ground running at 100 mph.  So, a good, positive review which picks up on all matters of importance including the following observations:-

''Jem not only manages to find the 'right' notes, he plays them with a singular mastery of tone & touch, and an expressiveness that is rare on any instrument, let alone synths and samplers. If the keyboard community wasn't paying attention after the release of Milliontown, they really need to listen up to EIMA.'' (referring to 'Falling Down')

and

that Dec ''just might be one of the finest singers to appear on the music scene in recent years''

Bodes well for the future, n'est pas?

Why, thank you kind sir.  I have been told that in the 'surround' version one can taste mulled wine!!  And, if I recall, that was what I was drinking at the time of noodling about with the sequencer to get something going :D  (although mid-summer for mulled wine is somewhat getting into the spirit of Christmas a tad too far!

As a piece it has lived and breathed for about fifteen years but I never knew what to do with it.  So thank you one and all for giving me the nerve to ''go public''.  But I don't think I'll give up the day job just yet.

Let me see.....

Porcupine Tree at the Indigo2 - best of the three last London shows by a country mile.

It Bites at Islington but a bit of a downer to start of with as we were only in time for the last Touchstone number and I really wanted to see them.

Joe Satriani x 2 - Hammersmith Apollo (very good) and the London international Music Show (excellent - concise and to the point - all the hits)

Deep Purple at the London Motor Show - despite having been a 'fan' since the release of 'In Rock', I had never seem them before in concert and it was a jolly good rocking night.

As for recorded music, mostly this year it's been re-releases (e.g. Lightbulb Sun, Deja Vu Live.....) but of the new work, I am really into Touchstone's 'Discordant Dreams' and Pineapple Thief's 'Tightly Unwound'.  The oddest purchase this year, but liked by Mrs Phil as well (and that is important, believe me!), is Nigel Kennedy's 'A Very Nice Album' - a bit querky in places, but I didn't expect anything else really!!

Sorry, forgot to add that I loved your 'lyric' piccies - utterly beautiful.

What with you and Pedro providing such incredible offerings, I genuflect in your joint presences.

Who needs another Christmas song anyway? LOL

But we shall try anyway - watch this space.....

Once more with feeling - sorted

I knew this was going to be difficult!  I'm rubbish with anything other than two tin cans and piece of taught string!

If this time is also useless, I'll ask Rick B - aarghh!!

Mmmm!  Let me see.

I know!  A combination of Frost*/IQ/It Bites playing cover versions of their favourite stuff - no genres or tastes, i.e. anything goes, but they are allowed to play one piece from each band members own allegiance.

And, if it works out, two keyboard players for the price of one - rule: they have to be nice to each other.

Short of that, perhaps Twang can get the warm up gig(s) for the reformed Genesis (LLDOB) which is supposed to be on the cards (although I may not live that long!).

Otherwise, I think he has topped himself (oops! wrong words, right sentiment!) as Saturday 20th december 2008 goes down as an all time great.

I'm a bit of a fan of The Feeling - quite lovely crafted tunes and extremely catchy.

And so is this!

http://homepage.mac.com/rick.burn/.publ ... istmas.mp3

A little festive tune that I threatened a few weeks ago to pop up for you.  No lyrics but ideas welcome as appropriate!  As Neil Innes once said, ''I've suffered for my music, now it's your turn...!''

Thanks to Rick B for his kind assistance in getting me through the 'link' wobbly bits.

Obviously, I hope you like it but, more importantly, please all do have a jolly Frostie Christmas time and let's do it all again next year.

Cheers

Said it somewhere else before, but again won't do any harm.  Absolutely stunning - a real treat for the eyes and the ears.  How you tied all things together is amazing.  Watched it loads now and I know I keep missing something - it's just like Jem's solos, no matter how many times you listen to them, there's always that bit which makes the hairs stand on end and the finger hovers over the replay button.

So, ta, - but I won't get much work done now!!

JM - ''I thought we had thrown all the Santa hats into the crowd......Oh! we did?  On that basis, would you mind giving my instrument a wipe please before giving it back!''
