Anyone else here missing Jem's blogs? I know it's only been a couple of months since Jem announced he would be abandoning blogging in favor of Twitter and Audioboo....but I am having withdrawals. I believe his assessment that blogging is a dying format is WAY off base. The shame of it is that there really are a ton of rubbish blogs out there, very few worth following faithfully. But Jem was a master.....his written and video blogs are very very entertaining, and one of the few I looked forward to.
I agree that The View From The Cube was a real treat to look forward to, I miss it too and it would be cool if it came back, but if Jem doesn't want to do it any more (for whatever reason) he doesn't have to.
I agree. Then again, the audio boo files are fab also. 8-)
The problem is time I guess. Writing blogs + shooting vids and edit / upload them costs (a lot of) time.
And don't fotget we were spoiled as hell back in 2007/2008 with the frequency of posting vids and blogs + daily forum posts. We got used to almost daily feed which was fabulous but hard to keep up from Jem's perspective I think.
But I understand what you mean. His stuff is always extremely entertaining and informative so it's great to watch/read 2 or 3 blogs/vids a week.
I dunno, maybe he just needs to install several webcams (Cube, house, garden, car!) and feed them 24/7! :D
I must admit I too miss his blogs they always make me smile.
Twitter is ok but...... :( I miss the blog
Aye, me too...I miss his chirpy face and witty repartee. Just comes across so much better on 'film'.
+2 who also miss them!
I found them such a laugh, even the muso editions were interesting. It really was a treat when a new one appeared and you knew you were in for around 10 mins of well presented entertainment.
Hopefully we may get one now and again, who knows? :D
Thinking about it, I don't remember reading anywhere that Jem was through with the Frost* Reports. I put a lack of them at the mo down to most footage being reserved for the Philidelphia Experiment's bonus DVD and the fact that nothing really Frost* related is happening at the mo. And after following what he's been Tweeting to Twitter, I can understand how he has no time to write an excellente blog entry every so often, and it frees up time for me to read about other stuff, like the Open Labs website. Looking at that site for me is like looking into the city of El Dorado. *Drool* :)
Let us not forget that Frost* is something that Jem does for fun, and I would think that work comes before fun, as I'm sure it does for most people in this world.
Not me though, 'cos I'm a student. :P 8-)

I think you are right. What Jem has said and what this thread refers to is "The View From The Cube" which is very sadly missed in these parts too!! Jem is a real master of the written word, the trouble is he is also restricted with time so I (regretfully) understand and respect his decision.
I miss Jem full stop, where is he?
I don't know what twitter is for and don't see the point in trying to learn how to use it. I learned how to use facebook and now nobody wants to use it, and I get left behind having to learn the new 'in' thing.
There's really not a lot to learn about twitter. You post updates and follow people you want to hear about. Replies are done by prefixing a username with an @, and that's about it, to be honest.
I think you can get Jem's twitter feed as RSS if you wish, though, so you don't have to sign up (I may be wrong on that one, mind).
i was just going to mention this. iv not been on here long an i just finished off the last tasty morsel of blogness yesterday and it comes as a great shame to me that it is no more. :(
My girlfriend was also pleasantly amused at the antics of wife and children lol
You are now going WAAY over my head!
John set up tweeter deck on the computer and all I do is click the icon and I'm there...thank god!
It's really handy having a computer geek for a hubby!

Facebook?! Like, that's SO 2008!
;)
But I'm with you on that. Twitter is one station to far for me. I think it's one step away from getting a chip implanted so people can follow your whereabouts 24/7.
Quote from: "RWA"I think it's one step away from getting a chip implanted so people can follow your whereabouts 24/7.
Nah, it's not. Really.
I use it as 99% read, 1% write. I follow a lot of friends (both RL and virtual like you lot*), a few celebs (OK, 3. 4 if Jem couts ;) ) and some newsfeeds on it (it really is the fastest way to hear news about
anything). I rarely actually
say anything myself except in reply to someone. So no-one's following my whereabouts unless I choose to tell them every move I make. Which I don't.
Typical tweetstream from last night:
alandavies1 Just turned on ITV: "In Rochdale the hunt for the man who broke into the electrical warehouse continues". Holy smoke, telly is well crap now
tomskerous has just listened to Kissy Sell Out's "Youth" on headphones for the first time. Wow. Frank Zappa would be glad 'Jazz From Hell' had a child.

jonboyes @alandavies1 which is why we all watch QI repeats on Dave :)
hoddsr La Villa Strangiato is the greatest 9 minutes of music ever recorded ;-)
And when @NellieBot gets going, it gets far, far dafter.
* Hah! See - I know you all don't exist really. You don't fool me!
Oh I see. My life's trials and tribulations are DAFT are they. Hmph!

Tell you what, whoever that bloke is what wrote that, he's bloody right you know.
I bet he's a good looking god like genius too.

I dunno about that. I was a perfectly sensible chap until I joined this Forum. And then my fragile, innocent mind got warped...
...Right, I'm off to chase a sheep around a field with a racoon. Anyone want to come with?

Depends.
Are you chasing the sheep with a raccoon or is it a field with a raccoon in it?

It was the racoon's idea, so I'd ask him about it.
I really miss the blog. Twittering is ok (although Jem seems to have stopped that at the moment) but a blog allows a more considered approach to writing about life and music and stuff.
I hope the blog is resting rather than over.
i think id rather enjoy following my fellow fair frost*ies on twitter. can i have some people addresses so i can follow yez. :D
mine is DrBlowThingsUp
Consider yourself stalked/followed!
You are now being followed by mikeevstog :)
You're being followed by Mouse_y - I'd watch out for him, he's a right tosser. :)
I very much miss Jem's blog. It was witty, entertaining and always brilliantly put together, but I suppose all of that takes time, so I can understand why he's called time on it (at least at the moment). I'm holding onto a vain hope that it may resurface at some point. It was always my main Frost* news source. I don't have as much time to crawl the forums as I used to. And I'll probably get round to Twitter round about the time it stops being popular... that always seems to be the way with me. As far as web related technology goes, I tend to scratch my head and stare at it with a baffled expression for ages, then, by the time I take the plunge, it seems to have moved on to some other wonderful thing... the cycle repeats...
Don't be alarmed if some wierdo called DueyC starts following you. It's only me :D
