Hello chaps and ladychaps,
Just wanted to say a planet sized thank you to everybody who came down and saw our little shows. We had the best time ever. Each gig was unique for various reasons and as usual we laughed like baboons throughout. Immense thanks must go also to Nellie, Keith, Andy, Dena, Tinyfish, Magenta, Bat, Ralph, Eleanor and Mrs Ralph for being so brilliant and helpful and indulgent. If there's anybody I've missed out, it's not intentional, honest. I've just driven back from Wiltshire through 30 kinds of weather after 5 hours kip so I'm not as sharp as I could be.
Thanks also to Peter Gabriel obviously. He's still in the back of my car with his lippy on, bless him.
And isn't The Globe a lovely venue?
Lastly, I'd like to say that the Vocoder is alive and well, it was the MIDI cable that had died. 23 years of using MIDI and I've never had a cable failure. Then it happens when I'm onstage, go figure...
Anyways, HUGE thanks again. T'was you people who made those gigs so enjoyable, we just buggered about.
Jem xx
Jem thanks to you John and Nathan for a wonderfully entertaining weekend, glad to hear the vocoder is alive and well
And can I just breathe a large sigh of relief that you liked the globe as I have to admit when I suggested it as a venue I hadn't actually been there yet  but everyone I'd spoken to who had came away with the same opinion as yourself ;)
Well, Thank YOU for putting those gigs on, a very, very special occasion enjoyed by all that went.
Were any of those shows recorded and if so are you likely to be making that recording available in some format or other be it free download or proper CD/DVD? Enquiring minds need answers, lol. :D
Let me offer my thanks for one of the best gigs in quite a while. Was an experience to say the least ;) . Also huge thanks to JM and Nathan who were thoroughly brilliant.
I must agree about the globe, my first time there last night and thought it was rather nice, something about cardiff and nice venues, I'm sure I remember jem saying something about bringing the full band down sometime in the future.
Anyway I'm sure ive rambled enough now, best get back to my train journey home.
Oh and thanks again Jem, John and Nathan.
Must add my thanks for a wonderful gig in Brum...one of the best nights entertainment ever. And the gig was alright too... ;)
It was simply wonderful and I hope that there are more sometime in the future...
It truly was an amazing evening at The Peel, and it did my heart and mind a whole world of good. Huge thanks to Jem, John and Nathan for putting on a show like that.
Marvelous stuff, wot! :D
What thoroughly enjoyable, witty gigs they were. :D
I can only echo everyone else's sentiments here. Thank you for such a unique and wonderful evening, and the Globe is a lovely venue. Please give me a reason to visit again!
...And I faithfully promise to shut up once and for all about the Persian rug.... ;)
As ever we had a thoroughly splendiferous night at The Peel, many thanks for the show Jem, John and Nathan.
As JM said "it's been different!" (I probably paraphrased that but you know what I mean).
Different maybe but hugely entertaining nonetheless :) .
Great to see all you Frost*ies again too ;)
Huge, huge thanks (operated by very tall Dutch women) from the three of us to you, John and Nathan for an extremely enjoyable evening's entertainment. Loved every single minute of it (even if the noisy nattering nob 'eads were annoyingly evident at The Peel bar) it was something truly different that few could pull off. So lucky to be there.
I wonder if we should consider these gigs as the finale to yet another spectacular season in the Frost*ie Chronicles? Are Frost*ie things now heading towards the hibernation box - ready to emerge refreshed and renewed (with a slight west-country accent) in the new studio sometime next year?
Quote from: "Jem"T'was you people who made those gigs so enjoyable, we just buggered about.
From where I was it looked like an awful lot of work had gone into preparing for this - maybe the extra time while the broken bones healed helped? It would have been easier to do more straight-forward replays of the recordings, but the new versions were all great and well work braving the rain for.
It looks like the plan for Frost* 3 is wide open - buckle up guys and ladyguys, it'll be a bumpy ride, but it'll be worth it...
The Globe was a fantastic venue. Best fun I've had since the Xmass appeal gig last year. Bravo, chaps.
Jem,
Thanks for a very enjoyable and interesting evening at The Peel. Most original and mightly funny. Also loved the Tinyfish set.
Finally thanks for taking time out to have a chat, much appreciated.
Cheers
Tom

;)
  I like that.
Quote from: "eponymous"Q1: Are we talking about a very tall, very clever electric violinist? Or an electric violinist and also a very tall, very clever man?
The violinist is about my height although I don't doubt that he is also very very clever.
Quote from: "eponymous"Q2: If the latter -- is the very tall, very clever man Tom?
He is called Tom, yes.
Quote from: "eponymous"Q3: So musically we have an electric violin, a variety of singists, a clever-ist, and presumably yourself on keys of some kind. I believe there was mention elsewhere (Twitter?) of a video-ist as well, though perhaps that was also the clever-ist. So, Q3 is... I don't remember.
There may be others too. :D
Life then, Jem, is good :D very glad to hear it!
Without wanting to sound sycophantic or anything I'll look forward to anything you put out mate, you've taken some frankly epic liberties with my favourite songs and I loved every second of them just as much as I did the originals. And I can't wait to be introduced to the Horse Box (to go with the phone box and the police box?) lol.
All the best old bean :D
Quote from: "eponymous"As you'll be in a stable, eventually, and given its current state, perhaps it should temporarily be "In-Stable-ity Studios" ;)
And afterwards just The Un-Stable Studios?
What a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Both The Peel & The Globe shows were excellent and very memorable.
Nice to see everyone, hopefully not too long before next time :D
I've just seen the photo of Carol Vorderman in Jem's blog. She could be my sister!

Thank you for an entertaining evening at The Peel and thank you for another if probably last VFTC. I look forward to many VFTS's.
Good luck with the move, haven't mentioned to hubby about the rotting police box...
Somehow, I feel that proper beards 'n' 'taches on ladies (girls - whatever), doesn't look all that odd.
Catherine's ginger soup-strainer and Nellie's elegant goatee looked, somehow, right.
Does this mean I have something to worry about?
PS: excellent shortbread frosties Nellie!
wow on a lot of levels. thanks for sharing!
Well, sounds like I did miss an awful lot by not being able to make any of the esoterigigs
Now that they're done though, could someone give a lightly more detailed write-up of what actually went on? I'll watch Pedro's video, of course, but he's already said that that's more the stuff in the gaps than the whole thing, so ...
As for the valedictory VFTC blog posting, well, Jem, best of luck with the move: all a bit inconvenient so close to Crimbo, but sounds like fun awaits you in 2010.
Hope to see you (all) somewhere then, even if Frost* itself is going on a semi-hiatus ...
Quote from: "Trapezium Artist"I'll watch Pedro's video, of course, but he's already said that that's more the stuff in the gaps than the whole thing
I think if you watch that (there are snippets of many of the songs in there) in conjunction with the other clips of songs already posted (and maybe still to come), I think you will get pretty much the true flavour of the event.
Of course the full JamesA transcript will fill in more of the detail when it is released. :)

Thanks, Pedro: I'm now fresh from your video plus some of the songs posted by JiB and others.
Jolly good stuff indeed, and I'm all the sadder for having missed out, but strangely happier for nevertheless knowing I'm part of a community of friends so pleased to share the fun even for those of us across the oceans (well, more a sea, in my case).
Reminds of a song, a secret song ... ;)
Thanks Jem and the boys for three thoroughly enjoyable and hilarious gigs, and thanks to Pedro for the excellent video :D
Sorry to hear that Nathan spent his day off on Friday burying his Dad :(
(returns from locating Bath on the map)...so the next round of gigs, whenever that is, will include Mr Kyps in Poole, yes?

You didn't mention that I looked
right, if you did there really would be something to worry about
:D I'm not quite sure if it was a compliment or not!
It seems that there were lots of Frost*ies who didn't reveal themselves, at least not to me! I would've liked to have said "Hello".
Thank you for the biscuit compliments, even my critical 6 yo liked them! (Orders taken in the usual way ;) )
I would like to thank the chaps and all the Frost*ies and Tinyfish for a very memorable evening, one which I will keep as spesh.
Quote from: "Nellie"It seems that there were lots of Frost*ies who didn't reveal themselves, at least not to me! I would've liked to have said "Hello".
Me too! I was looking forward to meeting yorgoodself at last, but for reasons already explained I was outside, about 100 miles outside. :( next time eh Nells :D

Sorry Nellie - how rude of us - maybe we're all too quiet and retiring - especially Racing Hippo and his Chilli waistcoat and Catherine with her Beer straining moustache.
BTW - did the T shirts sell out? I dithered but ended up not bothering, then changed my mind next day. Also I'm sure that those that couldn't make it might like one.
Funny you should mention.......

I dunno what the actual poster size is but im sure its a little bigger than A4 but not A3? Could be wrong.
The t-shirts aren't the same as the poster, they have the Messr's Mitchell and Godfrey on as on the poster but the words are a little different and there is a VERY funny caption on the back =) so worth £12, they're TOP quality
thanks, Danny!
nellie dear, what would be the cost for on tshirt (M) and one poster to be sent stateside? you can PM me, if you like.
thanks! xoxo
Ditto for me, Nellie. Except shirt only and...um... XL.

The large all sold out then, lucky I bought mine at the gig :D
I'm surprised they were selling ladies' t-shirts at all, given the wording of the poster!

Perhaps they come with a free glue-on moustache.

I do feel a bit self-conscious sporting the writing on the back

I don't think Mrs M has noticed yet...I will point it out next time she wears it ... ;)
only just got my internet back since being at the gig lol
which was clearly the best gig ever. and also i got to meet nellie! woo. i didnt know if i actually knew anyone there as i had come from so far afield so that was nice. i was laughing my pantaloons off all night so thanks guys for a brill evening :)
and i shook jems hand and hugged tina out of magenta. so thats 2 things off my to do list... im such a nerd :D
look forward to the next show.
Quote from: "DannySoisSage"In case anyone was dithering, the t shirts are AMAZING! And so comfortable :D
They are not the same sizing as Fruit of The Loom, the XL is not quite as big but it is true - these Slazenger ones are so soft, much nicer to wear than FOTL.

Ditto  Tho nobody actually asked me about it yesterday at work, maybe they just rolled their eyes and knew it was a "prog" thing.
I didn't spot anyone I recognised at the Brum gig, although I was the one at the back with the well-timed(?) mouth pop in hyperventilate. 8-)

Haha! I wondered who that was!! I was at the front being nerdy and loving it =)
I'd have thought I was hard to miss. Particularly as I was standing next to Beano. :-)
(Although, in a largely empty room, I don't know quite why some idiot insisted in standing less than six inches in front of me throughout most of it. Hey-ho.)
Was great to see the people at both gigs that made themselves known - you were all delightful. Although I suspected we were in the presence of some womenfolk in disguise.
Onward, upward, alongward...and preferably with a teleport between East London and bleedin Kingston next time.
Quote from: "tomskerous"... Although I suspected we were in the presence of some womenfolk in disguise...
Whatever made you think that?
Mine was the best disguise
Were you there? I only saw this chap....

Fine looking gentleman he is too
Even if his face badly needed a wash!
A bit like me, then. ;)
