13 days until release, by my reconing :D
Anyone know (and I'm guessing Nellie or the gaffer will) if the orders are primed for delivery on/around the 1st - bearing in mind I do accept that it will take some time to get 500 + orders fulfilled, including getting the right t-shirts etc
I know there's been some disquiet over on the IB forum relating to the 'This Is Japan' release which some people ordered on the first day of sale but are still to receive, and obviously 'managing expectation' could maybe reduce the number of 'where's my copy of TPE' mails that could start once the first few copies have started to arrive.
There's plenty to be learned from the IB example BUT their biggest drawback is that they don't have Nellie, Queen of the Merch. :D
I'm sure that with a little patience and a dash of good humour even (prolly inevitable) postal glitches and defective product will be sorted with the usual Nelliefficiency. :)
is the online store the only place TPE will be available?
as in... will it be in stores?
The shipping date is FROM 1st June.
I've had an email today from Rob Reed which states that the cds will be with me on June 1st which gives me exactly 5 minutes to fulfill the orders and get them in the postbox. I don't see that there will be a problem, do you????? :?
I am already in anal mode and am getting prepared for this very special day. I'm hoping that all orders will be received within 10 days of June 1st (and hopefully this year ;) ).
Please keep a mental image of me sitting in a room, surrounded by t-shirts and cds, sticking labels and stamps in the middle of the night.
I'm just as excited as everyone else coz I haven't heard it either!
Wish we could help, Nellie, but it's probably a logistical nightmare to ship "kits" to other people for posting?
I stand ready to help if this is actually sensible but I'd hate it to be a way for control to get blurred and for anyone to get narky as a result.
@leelustig : There was talk of TDL (and maybe TPE?) being available for purchase from a download site but I don't know where that has got to or if it will happen.
I have every faith in Nellie - I was hopefully trying to save her getting flak akin to that that resulted following the IB CD release.
;)
12 days until Nellie gets TPE! :D
Quote from: "Mooncat"I have every faith in Nellie - I was hopefully trying to save her getting flak akin to that that resulted following the IB CD release.
;)
Nothing could be as useless as the It Bites online store. I ordered a copy of 'The Tall Ships' about 2 months after the release date.
4 weeks later, I still hadn't got it after several emails to the shop. So when I got to the London gig on the tour, I marched up to the merch desk with printed email in hand and said 'Can I have my CD's, please?'
The guy looked really sheepish and just handed them over. :D
I'm sure they just don't have the right person on their store but (along with the extortionate price) that really put me off buying 'This is Japan'.
I know that there are a few people on the IB forum that are also visitors over here, and I'm sure there are valid reasons behind some of the problems, but they do seem to have quite regular issues with merch distribution. I know a couple of the 'team' and think they are as frustrated as the purchasers at times but in this digital age everyone finds out about these shortcomings whereas in the past there was no public outlet for the complaints.
As I say, Nellie hasn't failed us yet, and now is no time for her to start ;) ;) :D
"yet"? "start"??
Are you mad, using such words? :)
I think that there are some bands and/or performers that don't really "get" the online thing and still seem to act a bit as if it hasn't happened. If you have record company backing and sell really well then fair enough but otherwise I think there's much to be learned.
Can“t wait to hear it. TDL is extravagant and I now need it in full CD-quality splendor.
BTW Igot my Tall Ships by returning mail, all the way to Sweden. Maybee I was lucky. :?:
Quote from: "Nellie"I am already in anal mode and am getting prepared for this very special day.
Please tell me I wasn't the only one to have a Kenneth Williams Carry On moment upon reading that ...
Ooeerr
Actually, I'm perfectly happy to wait, because I know that everything happen as quickly as it possibly can. I mean, just to remind everyone, this is officially a Frost*-free year, after all ;)

I agree - not to overly criticise anyone as I've usually got my stuff relatively quickly from a multitude of bands - but some artists have let the internet 'happen to them' rather than trying to actively use it as a tool to communicate and interact with the fans, and also to sell and promote your product (be that gigs, CDs, merch etc)
As one of the aforementioned people who have had difficulty with IB merch I can add some solid info:
I bought a copy of "The Tall Ships" from a gig merch stand when it was re-issued by InsideOut and had a bonus track. I then found that the bonus track skipped horribly on my CD player and wrote to the band via the forum. The CD was replaced, but it took almost 3 months to happen.
At a different gig (the OATW tour last autumn), I bought a t-shirt where the logo started to flake after just one wash. Again, the t-shirt was replaced, but I had to wait until the next tour where I could get to a merch stand (almost 6 months later). I did correspond with VitaminP on the matter who was quite responsive initially, but I think the difficulty came where he had to talk to the IB merch merchants to get a t-shirt out of them.
Lastly the TIJ saga. I ordered my copy on first the day that orders were possible. They stated "allow 28 days". After 28 days I started writing to them. I got an initial response fairly quickly, but all communications then dried up until this week (almost three weeks after the first response). The matter is now resolved - I have my CDs and an apologetic t-shirt (wearing it as I type).
I've been given to understand that IB are using someone external to handle their shipping and it obviously isn't working very well. Hopefully they'll find a better agency for the next release, which I guess will be the DVD that was filmed a few months ago.
To be quite honest - they've resolved eveyrthing for me, it's just taken an age. What they really need to do is clone Nellie ;)
Nah, when they made Nellie they broke the mole... :)
If this "someone external" was paid to do it for IB then there should be refunds etc. going on about now.
But, if it's a well-meaning volunteer then it gets awkward and I can see how they might get swamped by it and let things drift. I mean, it looks like there's 600 or so copies of TPE going out on or around June 1st...that is a whole heck of a lot to have piled up in your front room!
Oh, and "merch merchant" has a nice sort of "Bev Bevan" sound to it. :D
strangely (and happily, for me!) enough, being all the way over here across the pond, I got mine about three weeks after I had ordered.
but I still don't understand the Avian flu bonus disc....
8-)

Careful, gav: Rule #1 around here is "Don't annoy Nellie" (particularly not when she's winding herself to mail out all the goodies).
Of course, I completely ignore this rule, and look where it's got me ;)
Sorry Nellie, my childish ways got the better of me ;)
and I'll shut up now, because I know how irritating silly people like me must be when you're dealing with over 500 orders on the same day.
700!
Ouch! I realize this is worthless to you, Nellie, but if I wasn't an ocean away, I would do everything I could to help you. Please tell me SOMEone is helping you.
Agree with the thought, Gonz, and my offer of help is on record in this thread.
I don't think that the overall implied expectation of all 700+ being dealt with on the same day is sensible. I was trying to get a handle on the scale of the task. Imagine what it would be like to post just 700 greeting cards in one go... 700 CDs in jiffy bags would be HEAVY... attach T-shirts to 500 of them and they get BULKY real quick. You can't just stuff them in the nearest post box. If I lugged it all to our local village post office, Mrs Goggins would do her nut. I guess some arrangement with a local sorting office would help but do they charge for such things? "Ah, you are obviously a business therefore you'll have to pay more"...does that happen?
Maybe I'm missing the point but, if it helps to reduce the stress and maximise the profit, if I can't *physically* help, I'd happily wait another day or two to reduce the pressure a teeny tiny bit.
We're all behind you, Nellie, and we love you very much. xxx
only 214 days till christmas

THank you Roger!
You are all too kind and too mad!
A big problem has been resolved by the very lovely Racing Hippo, so I say Hippo Hippo Hooray!
I would like a progress report as people receive their goodies. It would be interesting to see just how fast Mrs. Goggins is when she puts her mind to it.
I suspect it doesn't really help much, but you can leave mine until later in the delivery schedule 'cos I'm on holiday for the 1st week of June.
I suspect that my son (who is remaining at home - theoretically revising for A levels) will nick the T-shirt if he gets there first. ;)

Happy Release Day everyone!
...or not. Next week maybe.
I'd have taken a duff copy. ;)
Me too ;-)
Same thing happened with marillionrochester, all the disc 2's had to go back to have the artwork reprinted on them and you can still see the original artwork underneath if you look closely trivia fans ;-)
The repro company want them all back, sadly. Destroy the evidence...

I'm sure there's a joke in there, but I'm too cowardly to follow it through.
My order says "Delivered," so hopefully it won't contain liver when it shows up!
(and the prize for worst joke on the forum goes to...)
Anyway, since it hasn't arrived today, I should be getting it sometime on monday!!!
When I imported TPE into iTunes a mysterious track appeared called "The Other Line".
It seems that whoever it was that first typed-in the track names and submitted them to Gracenote must have been a bit excited and fumbled the track name of "The Other Me"! :D

Just received a message that mine had been sent out today, but the real question is how long will it take to get to Minnesota?
Mine is still processing, you guys who already have it are torturing me! :P
Scratch that, just had the email to say it's shipped. Hooray!
Got my bundle today, and doubly good as it's my birthday!
Proudly wearing the t-shirt already and I will add that this time 3XL really is 3XL!
I ordered the Esoteric Evening t-shirt in 3XL and it's lucky if it's an XL in size. Pretty nippit on my manly frame I can tell ya!
Happy Birthday!!
Got mine today thanks Nells for all your hard work :D

Red parcel arrived today.... It sounds BRILLIANT !! It looks SPLENDID !! It fits COMFORTABLY !! Many thanks to Team Frost !

IT'S EFFING WELL HERE!! Wondreful!! :D
Mine arrived on monday- I've been too busy listening to it to actually tell anyone in the forum! :D
Our name is frost, how do you do,
we're here today, to play for you...
Arrived this morning, spent my lunch hour sat in the car listening to the dividing line.
I'm really happy with the T-shirt - design, quality, everything. I saw it was a Fruit Of The Loom job. I've got a few shirts by them, but none of them are as nice as this one. Maybe a contender for any possible forum shirts?
Mine's arrived! Thanks Nellie :D
Listening to Milliontown and loving theT-shirt.
But I'm sure I'll have to explain the DE173 to everyone

Blastin' the CD(s), currently making me tea to Wonderland shakin' the walls, and the T-shirt is fantastic. Aaaaaaaaaand.... it actually fits my rapidly expanding bod! Thanks be to the Nellotron for changing the size to "LARGEMUTHA", when I forgot to specify!

My copy was waiting in the living room when I got back home last night. I watched through the DVD yesterday evening - I've seen parts of it before, but it was very well editted to bring out the maximum (or should that be the mexican) amount of fun. Then on to the two CDs today at work and on the journey in and out. This isn't the best environment, but my first impression is that the drums really stand out. Play this loud and it'll be like NDV is in the room with you. Again, the humour of the band comes through so clearly. Yes - everything is WAY over the top. But it's so good for it. So very Frost*.
I can't stop listening to it.
Pedder's said on the TinyFish forum that the version of Miliontown is definitive.
I think he's right; but I'd go further; IMHO the entire album is definitive Frost* (at least so far). It deserves to be hooge.
And best of all, it's done without an ounce of up-arse bolloxness. Just great music, fantastically written, awesomely played and consummately produced. Album of the year, no question. And I'll march (singing the Intro to myself) on foot to Rotherham next January to see it awarded as such. :o
I also had to write a short blog about it. //http://gable-end.blogspot.com/2010/06/quickie.html
I've abandoned searching for a copy of milliontown and just decided to buy TPE, international shipping and exchange rate be damned. Take my money, you limey bastard.

a package waiting for me. YAY!
You can imagine my smile as the post office woman handed me that beautiful green bag of FROST*y love
and I duly picked up my pace walking home as the winds picked up before an oncoming thunderstorm!
YAAAY!!!
I shall pop it in my Macbook and enjoy the day off listening and watching.
I will post in the Ashlease thread soon on my thoughts.

Mine has track names, not that I needed the help. :D

Got this album on constant rotation in my car. This album rocks, can't wait to pop my Frost* cherry in December when they play Manchester Academy.

I haven't imported it yet into iTunes; I'm talking about the track names showing up on my car cd player. someone else mentioned it (this thread? another? I can't remember!) and I was just confirming their experience. cds that have "cdtext" on them will show track names, etc. on the readout of the car cd player which is very cool!
Yeah, that was me. The CD-TEXT doesn't work, but iTunes and other internet-connected thingies get the tracks from Gracenote/CDDB instead. :)
TPE arrived in Australia today!
:D :D
Got my copy here in Canada last Monday. Nice Father's Day present (well, one day late, but we don't have postal services here on Sundays).
