Title: Unitopia: Artificial
Post by: Pedro on June 22, 2010, 11:38:26 PM
I find that CDs rarely make themselves comfortable in one's ears on the first spin.
Milliontown was one, Transatlatic's Whirlwind was another.
The latest CD for Unitopia; "Artificial" is one such CD.
It arrived a little late but it was a Father's Day present from Son of Pedro and I played it in the car on the way to work on Monday. It only took about 5 or 10 minutes and I knew this was yet another solid nugget from the rich vein of prog gold that can be found down under (The Third Ending, Quandary and now these guys).  :)

I commend it to the house and can't wait for Summer's End even more now!  :D

Been meaning to get this and have a listen, where can I buy it?
Stoked you're mentioning Quandary in the same breath as The Third Ending anyway, those guys are brilliant.  :)

I'll have to check where Mrs Pedro got my copy from, it'sll be on the webternet somewhere.

You could check out three tracks in Issue #70 of the AmazingWilf's podcast :-

Listen to or download this episode (//http://www.theeuropeanperspective.com/?p=709)

Quote from: "The Amazing Wilf described the contents very well when he"Not one, but two interview features this week - see how much I love you all and spoil you with my generosity?

First up, a cup of tea with Dec Burke, probably best known to most of you as vocalist and guitarist with Frost*, but also ex-frontman of the excellent Darwin's Radio, who recorded one of the best albums of last year, Template For A Generation, and very shortly to release his first solo album, Destroy All Monsters. Huw and I were lucky enough to hear the whole album during our visit, and we recommend that you head on over to Dec's website - http://www.decburke.com/ (http://www.decburke.com/) - to get a pre-order in as soon as it goes live, hopefully next week. You won't be disappointed.

Another album that I can guarantee will give great listening pleasure is Nick Magnus' Children Of Another God, from which I played a selection of tracks a few weeks back. I had a very pleasant evening at the Thai Square resturant at the Aldwych in London with Nick and Dick Foster, who writes Nick's lyrics - plenty of conversation and very nice food. We talked about the album, songwriting and music in general, and you can hear the results in this week's show - apologies for the sound quality in parts, it was a busy evening in the restaurant. Children Of Another God can be ordered from Nick's website at http://www.magnus-music.com/ (http://www.magnus-music.com/) - again, an album well worth getting hold of.

All of this together with new music from The Reasoning and Unitopia, a brace of tracks from Multifuse's Journey From The Nesting Place, and a brief diversion into both Dec's and Nick's back-catalogue.

Agreed; an excellent album, (tho' maybe it hasn't 'grown' like the garden [groan])
Spotify have it, for listening and downloading.
