Title: Deep Purple cover
Post by: E.S. on September 23, 2010, 12:28:06 AM
Ok, so I woke up one morning with that riff in my head. A couple of hours later, this was the result. Vocals and guitar solo to be added later.

This is for all who wanted a Zappa-ish wankywank version.

This sounds pretty fantastic!  I love the riff.  You know what might sound cool?  Jazz scats following the riff at some point.

You're a nut.
That's... it's... um...
Actually, it's rather clever :)

I'm serious, I don't hear that at all.
Maybe it's the kick ass double tracked lead synth.  :P

It's not a criticism, I thought it was deliberate.
I've commented on the cloud at a relevant point - it might be what RH was driving at too?
It's a stock riff and, if anything, TDL got it from BK.
But, like I say, nothing negative about it.  :)

I didn't read it as negative. Just funny that you heard it, and I didn't. It only shows how different influences can result in very similar things, by accident.  :)

But yeah, now I heard it. It's actually the original verse riff from BN. Just in a different key, I guess that makes it a bit more TDL-like.

Can't believe I didn't hear that before... now it's so obvious.

No doubt.  It's a lot more colorful than the original.  Well done, indeed!

You're too kind... :D
Anyway, it's just for fun. But my band might learn it and play it as an encore live.
We already have a version of Eye of the Tiger.  :P
