I lost count of how many fishes and Frost*ies attended the EIMA chat last night. How ever many there were, it was a surprising number! Of all available Saturday evening activities, you chose to stay home and listen to music you already own. It's so nice to interact with you all in real time. You're a quality bunch of people and I'm most grateful.
I know I'm competing with the Manning launch gig next Saturday, but I hope you'll check out the podcast at some point.

Wow, Mooncat! That's awesome! They're hard alternative rock, far from prog, but have a certain quality about them that I absolutely love. They're one of those bands that no one's ever heard of and I couldn't get enough of 'em. Signs of a Vacant Soul was the only album they put out under the Virgos Merlot name. If you like it, you may want to try these related albums:
Virgos - The Path of Least Resistance (they dropped the Merlot from their name. production not as good, but good songs)
Dark New Day - Twelve Year Silence (Brett Hestla's next band, similar style)

Finished listening to EIMA #2 and have firmly enjoyed it. Your podcast is excellent for walking (due to some minor backproblems I was advised to take a firm walk during my lunchbreak every day). Most of the songs were pretty known to me but wouldn't normally be featured in my own regular listening sessions or sporadically. The tune that really intrigued me was the Population 1 song. How is the rest of the album compared to the song Stiff?
Request: maybe some 30 Seconds To Mars?
Cool! And interesting. Simon Godfrey singled out that same song as one of his favorites from that show as well. Unfortunately, "Stiff" is the only song of its kind on that album. Population 1 was one of Nuno Bettencourt's various projects and the material is somewhat eclectic. I'm not aware of him doing any other drum 'n' bass style songs or anything even remotely similar to that track. Probably the closest to it would be "I Wanna Be Your Friend" from one of his other projects, Mourning Widows, but it's much more rock-oriented.
Have finished listening to episodes 2 and 3 today and have a handful of new bands to check out including District97, Platypus, The88 and Splinter.
Spookily, the new edition of Classic Rock Prog mag dropped through the door today and there is a feature on District97 in there too - the last time that kind of coincidence occurred was when I got into Panic Romm, so I'm hoping lightning does indeed strike twice!!!

District 97 is one of those bands that are more then the sum of their parts. I mean, take the sound of Liquid Tension Experiment add a cello-player to that line-up and then further enhance it with a female vocalist who has reached the finals of American Idol. On paper that sounds like a disaster where as in fact it holds up really well.
Splinter is a band that I had high hopes for and I quite like their debutalbum. I have seen them a few times (a few times with their former singer, once with the singer that is on the debut) and they were really thrilling. One of the few bands that really got what both Spock's Beard and The Flower Kings try to achieve in their music. IIRC the tune Korsakov used to be much more proggy in the early live incarnations. They really want to 'make' it in the music world but you won't do that with the music they are / were making as Splinter. In doesn't bode well that 3 of 5 members of Splinter have set up a new band called FUSE that is moving even further into the realm of general pop/rock. I wish them all the best but this is again an example of a Dutch band that somehow hasn't lived up to their potential.

Mooncat, The 88 are not a prog band by any stretch, but certainly good at their particular niche. "Bowls" was just a cool sounding track in 6/8 I thought people might like. You'll find Platypus has a decent pedigree, though:
