Title: The hardest working man in prog
Post by: Mikey on March 30, 2011, 08:06:54 PM
News reaches Dewsbury from http://www.progrock.co.uk (http://www.progrock.co.uk).

SEAN FILKINS - War And Peace & Other Short Stories - GBP 9.99 (released 11/04/2011)

http://www.progrock.co.uk/acatalog/F.html#aP15958 (http://www.progrock.co.uk/acatalog/F.html#aP15958)

Recorded at Lee Abraham's Dockside Studio, the debut solo CD from Sean Filkins (ex Big Big Train) has a great production, with drums recorded and engineered by Karl Groom at Thin Ice Studios, where the CD was also mastered. The 6 powerful and melodic tracks include a number of guest musicians including Gary Chandler (Jadis), Dave Meros (Spock's Beard), John Mitchell (It Bites, Frost, and others!), Lee Abraham, and more. This release is highly recommended! Hear the track 'The English Eccentric' from the new CD at http://www.f2music.co.uk (http://www.f2music.co.uk)

I played "The English Eccentric" on my show on Saturday (the same track is on the latest Prognosis cover CD). Sean himself has been in the EIMA live chat the past two weeks and a few chatters ordered his CD on the spot. He hung around for Mary's show and she played another track from it, as Catherine mentioned. I have some Sean-era BBT lined up for this week and more solo Sean the show after that.

"Touchstone are very proud to announce that the title of the new forthcoming studio album and follow up to Wintercoast will be The City Sleeps.  The album will be again recorded at The Outhouse with John Mitchell at the helm.  It also will feature the voice talents of the Oscar winning actor Jeremy Irons."

Indeed.
I wonder, was that video a recording of the result of a live "director" who didn't know the music? All of the cuts seem to be to where something had just happened, thus missing it. For example, where Martin Orford was singing BV just a moment ago or where JM had just hit a big chord a moment ago. This can't have been a cut with all the separate camera sources available...can it?

I was thinking a similar thing, Pedro.  sad when that happens.

Can't we tart it up abit?
Show the great man's attributes, and all his work as well

Quote from: "John Mitchell on DPRP"We're finished, "Map of the Past"!! (after an extented period of tinkering and fairy dust dispersing by our beloved king JB). The new album is in the hands of the recordcompany which means it's someone elses problem now.

I can honestly say it's been a much more rewarding experience and much less painful one than last time. JB feels the same. To summarise, of all the things I have ever been involved in the writing of, this is the thing which I am most proud of... To such an extent that I really really won't be looking at any reviews LOL! (Or marvelling at how badly it sells).

Anyways, we're looking at organising a listening party very soon and inviting along anyone who has the remotest of interest in hearing the beast before it gets thrown to the vipers!

Needless to say everything is totally different now and as sparkly as Ben Eltons 80s jacket!!

So there! Until we meet again. It Bites
