Calling fellow proggers. After just over a year since it's conception, i'm verry close to putting out my first ever prog album. I think it maybe my magnum opus, or at least a reasonably sized opus. I'm going under the name of Tiger Moth Tales, and the album is called "Cocoon". A concept album (oh yes I did say concept album) about childhood, and also about coming to terms with the loss of childhood. And heres a preview:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14720207/Cocoon%20-%20Album%20Teaser.mp3
Probably won't get it out there for another 3 weeks or so, but thought what the eck? Maybe I can drum up some interest! :) I might get a cult following of 3. Haha
Shut up and take my money!
That is bloody spectacular, mate.
Enjoying this muchly!!
It is rather stupendous isn't it? Hairs on the back of my neck were standing up throughout, love the Camberwick Green/Trumpton bit and I think the vocals at the end are stunning. :)
Its world class, is what it is. We have some talented buggers here on this board.
It is really jolly good indeed.
Money. Take it!
Sounds awesome. :D
Thanks so much everyone. This is all verry encouraging. :) I'll put updates on here as they come. It's all ready to go audio wise, just waiting on art work and stuff and trying to work out the best route to go with putting it out there. But glad you like the teaser and I must say it's so nice to talk to like minded folk. It's hard to find fellow proggers or it seems to be down my way, and yet there's more prog out there now than ever before. I have a theory that there's loads of us in the prog closet, we're just afraid to come out! Haha. But thanks all again it means a lot. Going off my own topic but i'm just listening to DS's rpm and I think it's rather good. I shal tell him so now. Thanks chaps.

Sphericals......think we're up to 6 already.
Excellent.
Make that 7! Brilliant sounding stuff. Put me down for a copy. 8)
Did you play all the instruments and sing too?
I'm sure I read in an earlier post that you're registered blind - if so, that makes it all the more impressive - and a little humbling.
Eight! ;D

I can testify affirmative to all of the above. He plays guitar better than most guitarists I've ever played with (lap style by the way), can run rings around me with his keyboard skills, plays sax and loads of other instruments too. Oh, and that voice!
I'd hate him, but he's such a nice bloke ! :D
Nice!
Nine... 8)
Waiting... (Hurry up!)
"Nine"! Trebled by jove!! Exelent! Thank you everyone, and thanks Soartooth for a great reference. I'm rather humbled myself with your responses. This is the first prog i've written since I was a teenager when I used to mess about a bit and I didn't know it was called prog, I just liked genesis alot. :) I'm not sure why I went from prog to pop. It may have been a girl. Lol
Thanks all.
Blimey tigermoth, I might have to reserve myself a copy too while we're at it
Thanks mate. I'll put your order in the book. :)
Holy Zarquon's singing fish!
I've just finally caught up with this and had a chance to listen.

Bugering doo-dah. I'm in!
You sound like a guy who knows where his towel is! And thanks alot, that's most frudy! :)
Well, having been fortunate enough to hear a pre-release of Tigermoths new album I'm really pleased to say it is an absolute corker!
If you are a Frost* , It Bites or Genesis fan, or just love symphonic / melodic prog, you will find loads to like about this I think. I'm aware of the effort that has gone into this, all the instruments and vocals done by one bloke, on a recording setup most of us would describe as unusable due to its' old-school nature.
I'm a mate of Tigermoths, so yes, I'm selling this unashamedly, but I've also tried to detach myself from knowing the background of how this was done, and it gives me that same sense of excitement I had on hearing Milliontown for the first time. It is gorgeous, eccentric, full of virtuoso playing and widdly bits and as I think Rook said, world class.
I'm 4 plays in and each time I like it even more. I really hope he finds an outlet and an audience for this, as it is far too good to get overlooked. :D
"I'm 4 plays in and each time I like it even more." Well i've heard it said that the 4 play is often the best, but where that leaves you and I i'm not quite sure! Haha. But Seriously, thanks for your kind words sir. It has been a bit of a labour of love and I hope I can do something with it.

Crikey - it will come as a relief to us both that I'm 6 plays in now then.... :o
But when can I buy it?
I'd happily part with some "hard earned" for this. Truly marvellous, well done that Frost*ie.

Loving it.

Thanks a lot chaps. I wish I knew when you could buy it. However, I sincerely hope to be getting things moving soon. I'll keep you updated. Can't say too much at the mo, but maybe i'll have some good news soon. :) In the mean time thanks again for the comments.
Really very good, just my cuppa...
Loving it! Think I may ask to reserve a copy also!
That's great. Thank you. I'm hoping to have a development verry soon. Can't say much at the moment, but hopefully you'll soon all be able to reed all about it. Really apreciating the comments folks. Also the Tiger Moth Tales site should be operating in a week or so. It's coming together slowly. :)
Hurry up mate! I need to pay you for my ripped copy ;D
You've ripped it? You should be more carefull you silly sausage! Haha. Well its only right you should have a copy seeing as I want you to learn the stuff. Oh, you wanted my address for tonight? Now how many times have you been told not to give your address out in a public forum???? ;)
Damn, that's me chucked off. :)
Allo ladies and gents. Well I said I would keep you updated. My apologies for the delay, but I didn't want to say too much before I was sure it was prudent. I think it's now safe for me to give you the news that i've been speaking with the rather talented Rob Reed. White Night Records want to release my album "Cocoon".
As you can imagine i'm terribly excited about this, not to mention being verry humbled. When I checked out the Whitenight site I couldn't believe some of the names I saw on there. The caliber of artists they have signed or worked with is just something else, not to mention the awesomeness of Magenta and Rob himself. I'm really not saying this just because i'm indebted to the chap, but Kompendium's "Beneath the waves" is my most listened to album of this year, and i'd strongly recommend that you get hold of it if you haven't already. Apart from all that, he seems to be a ruddy nice bloke. :)
Well in a nut shell, the fact that Rob and Will are up for releasing my album as it stands without any modifications or remixing is a huge compliment and I do feel verry humble. Don't have a definite release date yet, but we're looking at mid July. They want to coincide with another release. Steve Thorne has been mentioned, but i'm not sure what stage he's at. That would be rather cool though.
Incidentally, Rob Reed is putting out a new solo album soon and I dare say that will be a good'n too.
But hey, i'm going off my own topic. :) So yes, we're aiming for July. To say that I finished the album at the end of last year it's been a bit of a wait, but that's partly down to me not knowing what I wanted to do and dithering with the decision. I'm now glad that I did because I think this is the right way to go, and i'm verry greatful and indebted to Pedro who passed the album to Rob and made a great case for me. If you're reading, thank you sir! :)
I'm jumping the gun here as you never know how these things are gonna work out, and even in the Prog market theres a lot of saturation. However, i'm verry excited about this and verry greatful for this chance.
In other news, the website is coming on well, and hopefully will be up soon. Again there have been delays, but I reckon it's worth taking the time to get things right. So folks, if you're stil up for getting the album, all being well it will be happening. Yay! :) Will keep you updated with events as they happen.
Thanks for reading.
Good news, congratulations 8)
Wow - a White Knight release no less! That nice Mr Reed obviously knows a good thing when he hears it. Looking forward to being able to get a physical copy shortly.
Well done! 8)
Thanks chaps. This is turning out to be a good year. :)
I love it when this happens.
It's happened precisely once now, but I still love it. Happy to have been able to join the dots. :)
SO pleased for you and not at all surprised given the quality of the material.
I shall be looking out for the opportunity to buy with baited credit card!
Oh, and you're not wrong about Rob's solo album either. ;)
Steve Thorne is another clever bugger too...this has been and will continue to be quite a busy year for poor old wallet!
Go, Tigermoth! Look at him fly...
cracking news, top banana :) :) :)
Excellent!! Congratulations!
This has honestly and truthfully made my day. So pleased for you Pete - onwards and upwards! :D
Brilliant! Way cooler than Bandcamp! Now you need 1 extra track so they can flog it in the Japanese market and your done ;) Have you sorted out art work and all that sort of stuff?
"Go, Tigermoth! Look at him fly..." Haha, well i'm like Stevie, i'm too high but I ain't left the ground yet. :) One extra track for the Japanese? Is that how it works? I wish i'd know a few months back. :) Art work is all sorted, I think Sawtooth can testify that its not bad Barry. The guy who's doing my site did it for me. Funny cos I didn't ask him to. I send him the album for the website stuff, and the next day he sent me some Jpegs! He's really excited about the project. Add to that the fact that before I wrote this album I had writer#s block for nearly 3 years: now i've got a 5 album plan. All in all I think it was a good move. :) Thanks for the support here, it really is wonderful!
Allo ladies and gents all. Quick update. The website is immanent as I seem to have been saying for some years now. My mate Sawtooth and the boys in the band are getting there heads around the tunes. Great stuff. Can't wait to do a rehearsal. Been speaking to Mr. Reed about artwork etc. Alls good and coming on steadily.
Today, I went on my local station "Mansfield 103.2" don't you know. They approached me and asked me if I wanted to go on their New Music Monday programme where they showcase local artists. I said "Yes please". I don't think they go a bundle on the Prog stuff, but they seemed pleased with how it went and if nothing else it's a rehearsal for when I have to start banging on about it to everyone and anyone who'll listen. They also played a track (A Visit To Chigwick) from the album. I did them a radio edit and got it down from nearly 9 mins to 5. Haha
Well chaps, if you've got a few minutes spare, here's the interview in it's glory. :)

P.S. Off my own topic, but just thought I'd say I'm quite excited and looking forward to Mr. Kersner's album. Star studded ain't the words! :)
Only 4 years between albums?
That's not prog
Nice interview, pity Mansfield won't know what's hit it ;)
Thank you sir. :)
"Only 4 years between albums?

Ah, but the stuff I did before wasn't prog. The last prog I recorded was back in my teens some 15 years ago. Is that better? :) However, I was planning to get back in the studio and start working on the next one. Should I give it a decade first? Lol

And of course there's the tasty website: www.tigermothtales.com and thanks all for your continued interest. :o) Oo, by the way, Jem is following me on twitter. Is that something I should be jigging around the room about, or is he really friendly and follows everybody? lol

I would say this : don't ask, just jiggle away to your heart's content.
Might I add, I believe I am somewhere near the head of that aforementioned queue. Right behind Sawtooth, I reckon - and chomping at the bit!
Excellent work... look forward to the final version :)
A nice 70s vibe with an occasional Frost*ed coating? ;)
"I would say this : don't ask, just jiggle away to your heart's content."
That's what I did. In fact I bellowed the news from the top of the stairs to my wife, and it's a testament to her forbearance that she answered, "Wow that's cool," instead of "Who?". She's quite a good prog wife you know. :)

You're a very lucky man Tigermoth. Much as I love my wife very dearly, a good prog wife she 'aint. Whenever she hears anything resembling a non 4/4 time signature, long guitar solos or a Mellotron, she reaches for the off button. Yes, even Frost* ::)
Then she tends to replace the 'offending dirge' with cleansing dose of country. Unless I tranquilize her first.
I ask you..... ::)
Apart from the country stuff, yes. "Turn that crap off" is a frequent saying, Im afraid
"she reaches for the off button. Yes, even Frost" Herrecy, treason! Haha. Although I do love country if we're talking Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson kind of country. Too much stonewell Jackson and I start to foam at the ears. You'll be glad to know Sawtooth, that I've finally worked out what I want to play, so hopefully this should make the process simpler. :) Got my presets done today, and there's surprisingly few of them, but then I'm a great believer in making things simple when you can. :)

Hello again. Nowt to do with the album, but I just found this clip as I was looking for something on my external hardDrive. I didn't think I stil had it, and well, it was a bit of a special moment and perhaps appropriate for this forum. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14720207/After%20The%20House%20Consert.mp4 Francis did a house concert in my village at a friend's house, and after the show my friend insisted that Francis listened to me singing. Beeing totally on the spot and not having a clew what to do I just grabbed the guitar and sang one of my old songs. Then he took the guitar back, started to tune it in a way that blew my mind, and there followed a Genesis sing song that went on for about 10 minutes. Sadly, I had to break up the party as I had a late night gig to get to and my transport turned up at that moment. Francis obviously saw this as a good time to get going too, but it's one of the regrets of my life that I couldn't stay longer, especially as I believe that encores of any kind are a pretty rare event at Mr dunnery's house concerts. Anyway, this short vid (which at the time I didn't know was being made) stil survives, and I'm so glad I backed it up on my hard drive before my PC went gaga. Probably the only time you'll see FD and myself in the same video. Lol
that's great!
very cool. Dunnery's one of those ones you hope you will never stop playing.
Love that to bits - great big cheesy grin! ;D
The stupid thing is, I didn't realise quite how much of a Genesis freek he was, or I'd have played some too. Haha
Morning chaps! I've been in touch with Mr Reed at WhiteNight, and what with one thing and another we're now looking at September for a release date. I'm excited as it looks like it's really going to happen, but I feel a little foolish as now I have to try and keep the interest going for the next two months and perhaps I shouldn't have started so early. Ah well, we live and learn. But in the meantime I shal be kept busy, getting everything together, and also rehearsing the stuff with the TMT band with a view to playing it somewhere somehow. :) So I stil have a couple of bits to upload to soundcloud, and i'll be trying to increase the FB following and so on. I can only hope that you wonderful folks will stil be interested in a couple of months and won't be saying "Tiger Moth who?". :)
Thinking about it, Mr Kerzner's album isn't out till October and he's been talking about it for weeks. But then again I haven't got Steve Hackett and Nick D'vergilio on mine. Haha. So thanks again everyone and please do watch this space.
The Pineapple Thief has posted an instrumental teaser for their September release, so you're not that far ahead of the curve. At least you're not a Marvel film.

Well hello my dearies! Hoping you're all well this sprightly mornibold. nothing to report as such but I'm hoping for some news in the next couple of days and of course i'll keep all those watching this thread informed. In the mean time I might put something up on soundcloud today. Also looking at getting some vids made. Was thinking of doing some acoustic piano stuff for youtube, and was toying with the idea of doing a couple of alternative cover versions, IB, Frost or Genesis. Got a couple of ideas. Do you chaps think that might be a good idea, or do you reckon I should concentrate on vids of my own stuff? Always glad of advice. Thanks folks.

Some TMT news. Had a session with the new bass player Mick Wilson of Red Bazar fame. Ruddy heck, we're all gonna have to pull our socks up. He knows some of it better than I do and I wrote the damn thing! :) The man is a machine. Feeling excited about doing a full band rehearsal some time soon. In other TMT news, the art work is very nearly done to White Night's specifications, and I hope to be having talks with Rob Reed regarding a definite release date etc. BTW, if you've not done so already please give the site a visit: www.tigermothtales.com to find out more about the album and the inspirations behind it. Thanks again Mick, and thanks everyone for the great feedback and support. Feeling very buzzed!

Wish I could say the same for the ruddy assistant keyboardsmith! Pulling my socks up doesn't even BEGIN to cover it!
Yes, Mick The Bass a bit good isn't he? I hate him. ;)
Come come sawtooth, to cheer you up i'll buy you some very long stockings, silk ones if you like. That should do it. :)
Morning all. Tigermoth speaking. Stil no definite release date, but should be getting the art work proofs back soon and Rob assures me it won't be long now. This seems to have taken ages, but I can only imagine what a busy chap Rob Reed must be at the moment.
I know it will be worth the wait when it finally gets released and I must just say a big thank you to everyone on here for the great feedback. It was having the honest opinions of people who were under no obligation to give me praise if they felt I didn't deserve it (as opposed to friends who just thought they ought to be nice about it), that really pushed me forward to do something with it. As you may know, it started out as a Midlife crisis, and when I first started it I had no plans to release it or even play it to that many people. It was just for my own sanity. But you guys having faith in it, and the fact that some of you are hard line proggers and stil liked it means a lot. Plus it was Pedro who put my case forward to Rob Reed, for wich i'll always be grateful. Of course I'm aware that there's every chance the album will be a flop, but I reckon I might shift at least 20 copies to people who really appreciate it and that's stil a great thing. Just got to get it out there now.
In the meantime I'm keeping busy, writing for the next album, also doing some more lyrics and vocals for Nottingham prog stalwarts Red Bazar. Exciting stuff. Not to mention rehearsing the TMT stuff to be able to play it live should the need arise.
Speaking of that, I can now say that as well as Sawtooth and Red Bazar's bassist, their drummer and axe man have agreed to join too. So in effect I have Red Bazar as the TMT band. Confusing? Well, no more confusing than the various reincarnations and names of YES. Lol.
If any of you here haven't heard Red Bazar, please do check them out. Infact, here's a recording I made with the lad's consent at their Nottingham gig supporting the Tirith: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14720207/Red%20Bazar%203.mp3 Great instrumental prog. Ok, off for now, but thanks and all the best. TM
Can't remember if I agreed to buy one, so may be 21
Thanks Owen. Like the Tesco man says, every little helps. :)

Good day to you all. I hardly like to say it as it's tempting fate, but we may have a Cocoon for Christmas. For all those strange yet lovely people who want to part with the readys for a copy of this long awaited offering, December could be the month. I'll say no more, as it seems like every time i've said "soon" its ended up being put back another month. But I promise you Frosties will be the first to know (well, after me muther). I have a great fondness for you all, as you were really the first ones to give me honest and unbiased feedback, and what lovely feedback it was. Plus, it was none other than Pedro who made the introduction to Rob Reed, that's something i'll always be thankful for. Ok, one is gushing now, so I'll be off.
