Title: So who has worked out the morse code message yet?
Post by: Fogeyspasm on May 27, 2016, 05:44:13 PM
Closer to the sun. There is some more morse code towards the end. What cryptic message do you think Jem has included this time?
"Bring your big bananas?"
"What's my favourite biscuit?"
"Take that you Hobbit Bothering Proggers"
:o

I had a quick go earlier and instantly discovered how incredibly hard it was to follow morse code. How they did it during the war I don't know!

I clearly wouldn't have lasted long

They don't pause between letters. It's insane.

Got it.  :D

Took a little bit of manipulation in Audacity (high-pass and low-pass filtered to within an inch of its life and then slowed down) but got there in the end.

I won't blurt the answer just yet.  8)

What's the point in being in the forum if I can't have the secret message from a dedicated fan heh

I could DM the message to you if you like. :)
I just don't want to post it right out in case others wish to take up the challenge.

Has anyone played the secret vinyl track? (I only have the CD version) can anyone enlighten me on what it is (or privately message me to keep the secret 😉)

LOL
The vinyl apparently has a bonus track to fill or at least have something in the space.

I'm intrigued as to how many vinyl-ites will be jumping up to de-fluff their stylus when they hear Lantern?  ;)

I, like the ridiculous fanboy I am, have the vinyl version (it's beautiful) but alas no record player. So it would be nice to hear the secret track somehow. One day I might even get a record player.

I have a good hope the track will soon be available online. Some goodass Frost*ie with a vinyl player will encode it for us, I'm sure.

I was going to have a go at the morse code. Basically do pretty much what Pedro did. Cut it out slow it down and mess with EQ etc. Just not had the time.
Pedro Sir. Can you pm me the message. Saves me or the boy driving ourselves mad trying to work it out?
TA.

Ok, Jake and Fogey (or anyone else for that matter).
Here's my manipulated clip of the Morse - should be a bit easier to decode. :D

I don't know, maybe I'm going (even more) mad but I can hear something that sounds like Morse in the background of Hypoventilate - not really separate beeps but that kind of pattern modulating the soundscape.
Haven't found a way to make it any clearer yet...and I might be deluded! :o

I think they might just be the artefacts caused by stretching the Heartstrings melody. Sounds like paulstretch to me :D

Still struggling with the Morse even with your slowed down version Pedro but then it is way past my bedroom.

Edit: BedTIME. I meant bedtime! Case in point I think.

Ok, probably not much point in spinning it out any further...

The Morse message is: "Anyone fancy a pint?"  ;D

Does autocorrect apply to Morse?
Perhaps Jem was trying to say "Anyone fancy a mint?"

I bet Blunders could do something totally awesonomic on his drums with the tap code

Although you wouldn't want to actually have to be in the sort of circumstances it was used in...

Yes...It's like vinyl without the vinyl.
