The Queen of All Evil and Shortscale appear unimpressed. Wails were heard yesterday of "Noooooooo. Keep the old Doctor.........."

I'm inclined to agree. So let's get down to brass tacks:

How about Jem as the Doctor, with Imogen Heap as his assistant?

It's not fair, I want to be the Doctor's assistant.

I was struck by the total glamour of the position ever since Jo Grant and her exceptionally covetable white PVC boots made a deep impression on me at an early age.

26 years old... :?

The Doctor is getting younger with every new actor.
"Are you the Doctor?"
"No sir, I'm his companion, and babysitter. The Doctor is over there, loading his diapers."

Hmm....first impressions are not so good....but, of course, we'll watch it.

What's up with his hair? Where did he come from? Did this happen on the xmas episode that I forgot to watch and then forgot to watch on catch up tv?

Ummmm.....

Too young me-thinks. Will he, as the Doctor be able to command the respect the Tennant's Doctor can? Or will everyone just go: "Oi, junior, No!"

Time will tell.

And Wife reckons he looks a bit like Prince Harry. And that's not a good thing.

I know I haven't got a whole lot of hair, but is that actually a hairstyle he's got on his head, or an accident?

Maybe he'll grow into it?

I think that's the sort of hairstyle sported by the youth of today, Geetar.

Dunno about that. It looks like a comb-over to me. :D

And what would you (or I for that matter) know about such things?
 ;)  :P

But yes, sadly, I think you're right...
Dr Who was never a follower of fashion: tut tut

I'll reserve my judgement until he appears on screen. Still looks a bit too young, though.

Apprently I did as well when I was younger. Bad childhood, don't you know?  ;)

I don't know about youth, but hair is definitely wasted on the young.

Wow, the internet seems to be in histrionics over the choice.

Personally I'm not really all that sure what all the wailing and teeth-gnashing is about. Steven Moffat has scads of TV experience, has contributed some of, if not the best of the new-Who scripts, and I'm going to trust that he knows what he's doing with the casting until I see reason to believe otherwise.

Yes but apart from the last one, the choices have been fairly poor since Tom Baker IMO.

Fight! Fight!

I'm with you on this one, Nellie. Except I thought Ecclestone was good.

Oooooh Jo Grant, now you're talking. She made quite an impression on me as a teenager too, can't think why... well actually yes I can......
Cue gratuitous pic of Katy Manning (who played Jo) with Dalek... I think she may be getting it a little excited!
