I guess this is aimed more at the forum as a whole but hey. So anyone made Twitter group for Frost*. I mean I know that Jem has but that's personal one. Just curious if anyone would take that sort of undertaking or already has. I have a feeling though, from the start it would be derailed very quickly  but it could be something fun. So what does everyone think of a Frost* or Frostie* Twitter?
My vote would be not.
I'm not sure what its reason for it existing would be. What would anyone get if they followed it?
And who would update it? Twitter doesn't really do 'groups', so it's either a select few or just a free-for-all.
Jem is the source of official announcements, of which there aren't many, and if the rest of us want to discuss anything we'd come here. Plus, like many, I'm a different person on here from the person out in the wider web, where I have clients and colleagues that follow me.
I guess if we have important frost-related stuff and want to find eachother, we can just use #frost in the tweet. I think I did a few #summersend08 ones last year.
You grumpy old sod Tom. ;)

Grumpy but right, IMO.
Umm what the point of twitter, never really got my head round it from the few times I've looked I couldn't make sense of it :?
It's quite jolly if you've got mates on it. And quicker than blogging. Which reminds me I must give VFTC a bit of love this week.

I'm quite enjoying it too, it's nicely chatty. But then, I never really got into Facebook so what do I know? :D
I've got enough to worry about without having to get to grips with this Twitter thing as well.
Honestly, I swear I was born in the wrong generation... :?
Well that went over like a lead balloon.... Oh well ;)
:D
Well I guess there's nothing to set up over there so just follow whoever and we'll look out for you. :)
Twitter can be a fun and quick way of catching snippets of what's going on out there...
Although can't think how some people get the time...like Immi (Heap) following
>20,000 people!! mind blowing......and the video version, called 12 Seconds ....where does it end ....maybe we start one called 'WORD' ...just allowing a single word only!!..lol
Looking forward also to Jem giving "VFTC some love" ...missin' the video blog entries :D
Have a great week out there. 8-)

I'm quite enjoying tweeting. Quite good fun and taking my mind of the horror that is working for a bank thee days (please don't hate me :( )
Anyway, you need to let Twitter sort of hang around your desktop and sink into your consciousness. I couldn't see the point as first (http://gable-end.blogspot.com/2009/01/w ... doing.html (http://gable-end.blogspot.com/2009/01/what-am-i-doing.html)) but it's quite cool once you get into it.
Tomskerous is right that it doesn't lend itself to groups per se, but I guess there is a clump of like minded peeps revolving in their kind of separate, err orbits, around, Frost*ies etc on twitter, or something...
So join up. What've you got to lose (apart from any hope of doing what you;re supposed to be doing)
I use TweetDeck (//http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/) and it's easy to make my own Frosties* group, so I can see what everyone is up to.

Oops, slipped into work mode there for a moment.
Can someone tell me how best to caramelise a carrot?

well, first, the carrot has got to
want to caramelize...

Cut your carrots into juliennes. Get a large piece of foil, pile in your carrots, either sprinkly with brown sugar or drizzle with honey. Chuck in some butter or splodge on some macadamia nut oil. Scrunch up and seal the foil loosely so that there is some air around the carrots. Fling the parcel in the oven for at least an hour on 190 C (gas 5?).

This diet lark is affecting my reading skills....for a few minutes all I could see in the above text was "Cut up your carrots"....
....then it all became mouth-wateringly clear....except for the two instances of the word "or"....they still look like "and".... ;)

Once again, what a forum! How many other music forums are there where you'd a) be allowed to post an off-topic cooking query and b) get a proper answer within a day? :D
Let's start a wine club.
Hurrah! I'm in.
Quote from: "Nellie"Let's start a wine club.
Or a whine club ?
Wine's fine. I'm there :D
I donlt like to talk about this much, but I own a vineyard... :D
... well, when I say vineyard, I mean a row of vines... :)
... actually when I say own I really mean pay for the privilege of having my name attached to a row of vines in a vineyeard... :?
You'd have thought I got wines free, but I donlt, I have to pay for it. :(
Anyway, cracking idea. Are you going to set up a thread Nellie ?

Or perhaps not

Do you mean like....."Let's start a wine club" sort of thread.
Someone else can decide which wines to get and I won't join in on the whites as they don't agree with my head :(
Shall we get cheese and/or biscuits too?
I was thinking of buying shares in a vineyard, where's yours Bert? (Not in your garden I hope  )
Bit of a luddite when it comes to plonk (see what I mean?).
I've guzzled a fair amount of it in my time but I don't know all the names etc.
We tend to prefer whites or rosés to reds (i.e. grape juice is preferable to vinegar). White Grenache, being rosé in appearance is always nice.
But haveing said all that, we haven't had very much of any sort of wine, fruit-based drink or even fruit juice since the waist reduction scheme kicked off.
So a wine club thread would be guaranteed to get no serious input from me.... ;)
I prefer German whites, because reds give me a headache. 8-)
It's going well so far
Quote from: "Nellie"It's going well so far
LOL :D :D
I think we might need Tomskerous. I believe he may be a guru.
Excellent addition re Cheese. :D

Glad you think so. We'll have a business plan put together in a jiffy at this rate. ;)
Then again, it's said that the best way to end up with a fortune making wine is to start with two fortunes, so bugger the business plan.
Big fat tasty reds please, merlot, syrah, carmenere, cabernet, although I'll let pinot noir in too at a pinch.
Then again, a decent Frascati drunk in a cave in Frascati is hard to beat. Can we make it a wine-travel club ... ? :D

Can we get the travel to tie in with Frost* gigs ?
I think this has got legs you know... :D
So I've put up a thread on Any Other.. and we will now wait for Tom..............oh Tom, where are you?

:D I wish. Not much wine growing goes in Norfolk, more of a southerly pursuit. There are a couple of vineyards however.
Anyway, Wineshare is where I rent my vines http://tiny.cc/JWfK4 (http://tiny.cc/JWfK4)
Mine are here http://www.wineshare.co.uk/Domaine-du-G ... randmayne/ (http://www.wineshare.co.uk/Domaine-du-Grand-Mayne-Avine_grandmayne/)
Also, whilst we don't grow much wine here in Norfolk, we do play host to a couple of on-line Wine retailers, Virgin Wines and a new company called Naked Wines http://tiny.cc/SxP21 (http://tiny.cc/SxP21) whom a number of friends work for. Great little company with a fantastic and novel business model for wine based around social networking. Wine's V good too.
Naked are doing a follower promotion on Twitter "There's free a case of wine for our 100th follower, spread the word". I'm a follower so just look me up.
If you want to know any more, don't hesitate to PM me :D
Sorry all very serious. Someone swerve this thread again, will they :D
Thanks Bert, I'll do some research. :)
However, having been drinking my wine for a bit and having not had any dinner yet I'm just going to say BOLLOCKS and see what that does. :!:
I like Beer me. Proper Beer like Spitfire or Hobgoblin. ;)
Quote from: "johninblack"I like Beer me. Proper Beer like Spitfire or Hobgoblin. ;)
I like Beer You too. Although Sober You is cool as well! ;)
On the wine front, it's cheap Shiraz or Merlot for me. I reckon Lindemans' Bin 50 is pretty tasty for a mass market bottle under a tenner.
