Check out the tune The West Pole. There is narrative section in there and it is indeed Frost's John Mitchell doing that. FYI, all vocal parts for Gathering's new album were recorded at his studio and under his production supervision. Am interested to know how the band ended up in Reading for this, but hopefully I'll get answer from the band as someone I know will be interviewing their drummer next week.
BTW, The Gathering are quite a wonderfull band that together with Norway's The Third And The Mortal sorta invented the female fronted goth metal sound but then were very keen to move away from that and in the end came up with something that has been called triprock. The new album The West Pole is the first album with new singer Silje Wergeland.
liking! thanks for the link!
Wow, what a gorgeous voice she has!
Sweet Jesus, he is SUCH a musical tart. He's like the 21st century equivalent of Phil Collins!
Except he's a lot, lot taller. :)
and has more hair.
and fewer ex-wives and (sadly) less money....
I told you he was a whore! ;)
I might start a faux prog band and see if he'll join it. And of course, on current form, he will. ;)
Then I'll get him to sing a bunch of songs with words like "Country" and phrases like "For luck", "Lash it" and "Wily banker" that I can later edit into amusing naughty words. He could end up being the Roy Chubby Brown of prog and he'd never know.
Actually, this has legs...

And here I thought you already did !! :P
You wag.
Pedro, kill him.

What, he starts with the 21st Century equivalent of Genesis, and turns it into the 21st century equivalent of Earth Wind and Fire ?
LOL @ Geetar
@Jem: Oooh, are we killing WAGs now? :)

i would SO pay good money for this!!! x
Curiously, I suspect that a faux prog band (along the lines of Spinal Tap) would gather far more media attention for the genre than all the creativity and hard work of the last 25 years or so have otherwise done.
I really think that the mainstream media (and I'm looking at you here: BBC) haven't heard anything released after about 1980.
Actually, come to think of it; wasn't that how PT started out? (but without the comedy elements)
