Alas, I can't make either of the DT shows... but of course, it would be foolish for the band to expose themselves to such a potential audience without a warm up show or 2 under their belts, wouldn't it (and no, RosFest doesn't count)? So how about it... perhaps a night at the Peel?
Wouldnt that be great, id be there for sure .
Perhaps... a night in Rome? :P
I like your thinking. Let's start an online petition... that always works! :d
Quote from: "LivingForever"I like your thinking. Let's start an online petition... that always works! :d
Until someone says "that always works" that is.....
However I do totally agree that since we're unable to do Leeds or Southampton a Peel gig would be a great idea. :D That's +3 to the petition! EDIT** make that 4, ProgDog wants to come too!
+1 here too!

That *may* have been sarcastic... ;)
I tell you what we need. A Frost* / Tinyfish double header at the Peel!
This is the best idea in the whole entire world.
LFE, that's a stroke of total genius. I'll bring some biscuits along!
We could call it.... GodfRest*
LFE
I Like it!!!! +2 here minimum.
Alas, I am not Pedro. When Pedro wishes for these things, they magically happen.
;)
What do we want?
GodfRest*!
When do we want it?
Um.. about the beginning of June please, if that's not too much trouble...?
Wouldn't that make them warm-down gigs, then, rather than warm-up gigs? Or am I looking at my calendar upside-down?
How about Sunday 7 June, the day after the Manning gig ? A week before the Frost* gigs.
Someone book it with Twang and then tell the bands.
plus 1 here!
Quote from: "JamesA"How about Sunday 7 June, the day after the Manning gig ? A week before the Frost* gigs.

:D brilliant! +2 here
The news of this gig is all over the Tinyfish forum !
Well, I say all over - it started in one place, and then got moderated to another ;)
Brilliant! Maybe we can make it happen by starting so many rumours that the bands feel guilt-tripped into playing?
Nellie is already annoyed that it's only another support slot for Tinyfish - maybe they'll push for the main gig when they start discussing details in the morning.
Make it a 2 day event...."Godfreekend"! ;)
Couldn't help but set up a facebook event
Deeply tempting though that is, a one-nighter would work better for me, on the grounds that I don't get much time off for good behaviour!
Actually getting down for just one night could be a problem for us but the thought of prematurely curtailing either band is quite painful....
Okay then... who do we like for the support slots on each night?
Quote from: "LivingForever"Okay then... who do we like for the support slots on each night?
They can support each other - that's like 4 times the fun, or something.
How about the "acoustic" version of the other night's headliner? :)
Perfect!
Or, if wet, Touchstone and Darwin's Radio.
If I was a lady I would be very wet by now.
Erm, you didn't mean it that way.
I said too much anyway.
Quote from: "LivingForever"Perfect!
Or, if wet, Touchstone and Darwin's Radio.
Nice idea but we wouldn't want to stress poor Dec's voice too much would we :?:
True... let's give Dec a rest and substitute Darwin's Radio with... um... someone else. Steve Thorne. With a proper band.
Five attending so far
I am not on facebook, so you can make that 6.
If it had to be a one night thing why not just split the "stage time" 50/50 and draw straws for who goes first, or something?

That was cruel, I got the email "invite" this morning and told my other half that I would be going
I'll pop onto Facebook later, don't go there that often - too much clutter, and since I've rediscovered Twitter! :D
You are all very naughty people, and deserve smacked bottoms. The first I heard about this was a phone call from people who don't read things.
'Can I order a ticket for the Frost* / Tinyfish warm up show please'.
'Errrm what warm up show?!!????'
'The one I heard about on Facebook?'
'Sorry sir, we have no show booked for this'.
'Oh, sorry to have troubled you'
hangs up.
Then George phones up about it.
OOOOOOOOO You naghty people. made this afternoon rather fun. :D
You mean
'Sorry sir, we have no show booked for this yet'.
We Love Twang

It seems to me that I have to book another flight to London... no Italy once again... :(

Twang is going to smack my bottom so it can't be all bad
Huzzah! I'm gonna watch
Did somebody really ring for tickets? Changing the subject quickly...
thats classic! i did have to put an explanation on the flickr page just in case..... !
Various members of Tinyfish are now murmuring about being somewhat up for this... :p
I wonder... I wonder...
No pressure, but I'd hate for it to be Frost* who let everyone down...
;)
Maybe if all else fails, we could support Tinyfish as a Frost* tribute band called Frost*ies.
I just borrowed a Bass Guitar so I'll start learning Milliontown tonight. It can't be that hard, surely?
I can't sing or play an instrument, but when I listen to the albums it all sounds pretty straightforward, so I reckon you should have it sussed tonight, with probably time left over to move on to learning another track.
Cosmic Lawnmower on vocals... if LFE can't hack the bass parts I could have a go...
Excellent, Racing Hippo on drums... and... Philadelphia plays some good guitar!
Now we just need another guitar player... oh, and someone that plays keyboards as well as Jem.
Joining this one rather late, but what a thoroughly wicked bunch you all are :D
Following from the material of one of the lectures I gave today though, it strikes me that this thread is somewhat analogous to the creation of virtual particles out of the vacuum: you can borrow a large amount of (creative) energy to create something virtual out of nothing, but only if it's for a very short period.
So let me warn you all now: if this lark continues for much longer, you will be in contravention of Godfrey's Musical Uncertainty Principle and Jem will have to give you all a jolly stern talking too.
Just let me know; I'll be there to take pictures
Can't you just program keyboards so they play themselves these days...
(which pretty much guarantees me that jolly stern talking to)
Does the line-up of Fraudst* require a spoons player?
Will play for biscuits. :)
Quote from: "LivingForever"Excellent, Racing Hippo on drums... and... Philadelphia plays some good guitar!

Actually, I play guitar :)
Well, I'd offer but I'm still out of strings... ;)
I play guitar and keyboards, though not at the same time. Yet. I could do backing vocals as well if need be.
I definitely can't play the keys as well as Jem (not by an incredibly long shot), but I could always simplify things. Expensive chords on single keys and such. ;)
I nearly had a coronary when I saw the Facebook page...
I could phone something in.
Quote from: "Pedro"Fraudst*
Brilliant. You, sir, are a genius.
I also play keyboards and provide decent backing vocals. However, I only meet the criteria if "as well as Jem" means Jem plays keyboards and I do as well. :D
Perhaps you could assemble 4 keyboardists to each play 1/4th as well as Jem?
Quote from: "gr8gonzo"Perhaps you could assemble 4 keyboardists to each play 1/4th as well as Jem?

I plead the fifth!
or I'll drink one...
We could all play one really long keyboard that stretches right across the stage. How Prog is that? 8-)
I'll make the t-shirts
Whoa. I'm no guitarist. A bit of acoustic guitar-playing does not a guitarist make!
I can probably do a bit of backing vocals, if forced to!
Quote from: "Philadelphia"Whoa. I'm no guitarist. A bit of acoustic guitar-playing does not a guitarist make!
Yeah.... because I could really play Milliontown on Bass... come on, get into the ridiculous spirit of this! ;)
If you do do it, I'll be right at the front in the audience with all the biscuits you need. :D
Re - a warm up show, I'm certainly not ruling it out, but I'm away on part 1 of my much much much needed holiday prior to the first DT gig so it's debatable how "warm" we'd be with over a week's gap before the first gig. Indeed I'm driving from my holiday (a day before the end of our holiday much to the intense unhappiness of Mrs G - yet again she takes a hit in the name of Prog  ) straight to Leeds for the first show.
I know Jowit's keen to do an extra gig, but that's like asking me if I'd care for a brandy...
Quote from: "Jem"Re - a warm up show, I'm certainly not ruling it out,
Especially if we get you a keyboard that stretches right across the stage like Mouse promised, eh?
Another gig would be very cool, though. Not least of all because it might mean those of us who don't like DT enough to spend £30-odd on a ticket would get to see you!
If we could swing some Frost*y blues versions I'll do some guitar. :D Otherwise I'm well up for all the technical assistance and sound engineering.

Well, okay, as the warm up argument doesn't look particularly water-tight let's try the logic another way around - having done 2 support slots to warm up the band, wouldn't it then make sense to play a headline gig afterwards? I mean, it would be such a shame to waste all that rehearsing (??) and get 2 live shows under your belt and then not deliver a full set to your truest most adoring fans? Dare I say, almost rude not to...
And Mrs G surely can't object?
I'm up for a slot on keys - just as long as we play the songs at half speed. All those hemi-demi-semiquavers would do my nut in! And I may miss my cues due to biscuit scoffing.
I do like the idea of a 12ft long keyboard 0' prog though :D And Fraudst* is inspired Pedders!
By the way, does anyone know a good BASSOOON! player? ;)
Great idea to play at half speed - that should help me with writing my notes for my review. Usually I find the music is going too fast for me to keep up and I probably miss all the good bits.
Quote from: "sawtooth"By the way, does anyone know a good BASSOOON! player? ;)

If Beano turns up to stage-parp that'll be a brass and woodwind section sorted then. ;)
Half-speed sounds like a good idea. Also, I believe JiB plays bass, so perhaps we could take alternate notes? Might help in getting some of JJ's fast bits nailed!

You're not kidding - no idea how he does that mad bass line in Hyperventilate.
Can I join this little group of Fraudst*ers?
JJ & I already played together at the Rosfest jam party.. I'm hoping our rendidtion of Cameo's Word Up gets posted to youtube soon.
so how many fraudsties can we get on the stage? we could just leave the tinyfishes and frost peeps for the audience and have a singalong!

It'd certainly give me the motivation to practice more!
I have a good prog-drummer connection anyway - I have the same birthday as Mike Portnoy (he's a year younger, the blighter!)

Yep.
Has anyone else read on the DT website that Frost* are doing a third DT support slot in Lisbon? Or has this been covered elsewhere on the forum?
Anyone going?
On the MicePace it's got them down for Lisbon and Munich.
I saw Yes at Tollwood, Munich a few years ago and, while it was only a festival-format performance (no solo slots) the whole experience was great. I was coincidentally in Munich at that time for a business trip so the transport was all paid and the beer and/or food stalls around the big tent were many and varied! :D
Are we having a splendid time?

Pedro's twittering reminded me :D
Absolutely! My favourite bit was when Jem juggled the live geese to the tune of Sabre Dance as Dec used a banana to paint a portrait of Rolf Harris with a pot of molten cheese which was brewed by JM. That was class. 8-)

Hmm...."Mousiepoos"....not sure that really works as intended....
Of course it's alright, go nuts, people! That's made my day! :D
I'll be wearing mine to the Leeds gig (with some Forum related grafitti scribbled on the back), so I reckon I'll be easy to identify. Keep an eye out for a little fat chap with a mop of ginger locks. 8-)

You can sort of make out the design, although it mainly supports RacingHippo's idea that I'm a weremouse. On the back, I wrote "Rock, Mexican Rock!" large and "100% Made Out Of Cats" small along with a little mouse logo thing. Don't think anyone saw that, though.

Yeah, the beer at the venue had a similar - although perhaps not quite so extreme - effect on me, too.
