Question for Frost* (plus Frosties as well)
Working on Monday 17th being the proper day for celebration, I offer you:
+ nursing hand injuries having signed so many copies for Forum members?
+ back to the day job?
+ shooing away Prog journalists from the Cube?
+ attending a biscuit party hosted by Lord Inside Out?
Other suggestions welcome.
QuoteWhat will you be doing on release day?
Playing "a certain CD" at volume levels currently considered harmful to the very fabric of space/time.
Wondering how to buy a download and put money into the appropriate pocket...
waiting to see if my signed copy and tshirt made it across the ocean!
I'm hoping mine will make it across the pond in time as well. I ordered a beanie
which I'll probably be needing by the time it gets here! I'm sure I'll be working
that day and I'll have to wait until I get home.
I'll be checking my mail every 5 minutes or so, probably in vain as the postal system in Australia won't get it to me for 2 weeks after the 17th :(
I'm worried it will be too late by then to save my marriage and bring my dog back to life, frankly.
I'll be studying for two tests. That may sound crap, but it gives me time to blast it as loud as possible!
i'll be recovering from a weekend drinking and partying at the marillion gig in Bournemouth. I'm meeting up with a shedload of friends from around the UK and we have taken over a wee hotel. The husband has even agreed to accompany me. He has professional muso earplugs apparently
I was going to say relaxing, but I reckon we'll be fielding any the 'where's my disc' queries.
So far all is going to plan, and we're hoping to start sending discs out to those of you further afield on Thursday, so there's a sporting chance they'll get there for Monday - at any rate it'll be quicker than Amazon.
I'll be hoping that things don't go astray - we have lost a significant amount of post recently :( , however, I'm an optimist, so I'll be considering taking a day off as I have a few spare!! :D :D

Can I dis-associate myself from any other parcel manglers at this point, assuming UPS won't be handling the mail (Costs !!!!)
I will be traveling back from my weekend in London wondering if EIMA will be waiting for me when I get home

I'm still working on that although it's unlikely I can arrange it in time for release day. What kind of format would you want to be downloading it?

Oh definitely - the north should get shipping priority :D

And I'm even further afield!
And I'm only about 10 mins drive from the Tunnocks factory, so those any of the band willing to make a hand delivery, muchos Rioja will be supplied, along with paid tour of the Tunnocks factory & samples!
And on Monday I'll be in the office expectantly awaiting my delivery 8-)
I'll be at school from 8.30 'til 16.30 as usual. Sigh.

Since it is a Monday release that means most of the time it is already available in the shops on Friday / Saturday.... So, I have instructed the local specialist record store to immediately call me / text me when the new Frost is delivered to his store. I will then most probably have to resist the urge to jump in my car and pick up... but I am considering the idea of taking the afternoon of so I will be able to pick it up in the afternoon, hang out @ the recordstore, play EIMA and maybe even watch some of the dvd before going home at the end of the afternoon. Afterdinner I will most surely then be playing it on my big soundsystem and crank the hell out of it....

We are seemingly constantly reminded about the eternal Jaffa cake debate, biscuit or cake. However, few of us realised that another biscuit debate on the same vexed issue had been conducted over that favourite party treat and source of yummy marshmallow, the Teacake. Within the biscuit industry there was the sense that there was unfinished business here, and as is being widely reported in the Times today it could end up costing the HM Revenue & Customs £3.5m.
From 1973 to 1995 the Teacake which has a biscuit base was accepted to be a biscuit and being covered in chocolate was liable to VAT at the full rate. This is the converse of the Jaffa Cake which as a cake gets away with zero rating. However, in 1994 Marks & Spencer successfully got the Teacake reclassified as a cake, and thereby made a claim for all the excess tax they had paid over the last 21 years. A small proportion of that sum was paid out some three years later.
Now Marks & Spencer may be closer to retrieving the rest as one EU rule clashes with another, according to Juliane Kokott, Advocate-General of the European Court of Justice. The case will need to go to theEuropean Court of Justice before a decision is made.
What seems apparent to us is that if we can lay our hands on any vintage M&S till receipts for teacakes from 1973-1995 then we should be able to claim back our overpaid tax too. No doubt the likes of Tunnocks, Lees, Burtons and anybody else who has a teacake factory will be very interested in the outcome expected early next year.

Damn, damn, DAMN!
After years of pressure from H, I've just shredded all my till receipts up until 1998 - she reckoned that keeping them for more than 10 years was "unnecessary hoarding"!
Maybe I can claim from her for loss of potential refund. That'd teach her.
I'll be wishing mum was trusting enough of online stores to allow me to ship the CD over the damned pond. :(
No joke, she wouldn't allow it cuz "ONLINE PURCHASES WILL STEAL YOUR IDENTITY ROOOAAARRRR"
My local cd-store expects the album to arrive on friday. I hope they're right, since I didn't pre-order!

I think you are pretty safe if you pay via a credit card, as you have some protection with those.

Oh yeah, believe me, I know. Unfortunately, the err....beast upstairs believes otherwise.
Honestly, I don't know when it's going to come in the mail so I can't really make any plans...
Aah who the hell am I kidding. I'm going to drop everything that I'm doing, get drunk and BLAST THAT SHIT!
(We need a metal horns emoticon for a situation like this)

I'm going to drive back and forth to the Post Office or just sit and stare at the box until it gets there. Then pop that bad boy into my stereo and pig out on some biscuits while I'm listening so I can the full effect of the album.

AAARRRRGGGGHHHH... The distribution / wholesale company didn't deliver it to the record shop yesterday and I have checked the packinglist for todays shipment and it is even not in the package for today.... CRAP !!!... This means I have to wait till Wednesday...
I think I mentioned this on the old forum.
Monday 17th is National "Stick The Kettle On Day". No, really.
The soundtrack should be awesome. :D :D :D

I'll be doing very little at work impatiently waiting for it to get here! Although if it doesn't arrive on monday I'll at least have a metallica concert to go to so I won't be to bored later on! :D

See that's a nice touch... Gotta do something English while listening to the album...
Is drinking warm beer good for that?
(ya know.... maybe its just my American-ness but I can't even fathom drinking warm beer :| )
Having started this one going - I realised that I hadn't said what I would be doing - which is the Day Job.
On the basis that the post gets delivered so late in this part of the Kent, there was no chance of getting it before I left this morning, so I'm taking the opportunity to give Milliontown another spin in the car. VERY LOUD. :)

Can't fathom drinking warm beer? Hey, there's a whole new topic here, 'warm' British Bitter against cold American 'beer', or 'lager' as everyone else calls it... ;)

I believe there are other names for american *beer* ;)
In answer to the original question, I was going to reply 'masturbating furiously', but that wouldn't differentiate it from any other day.
The weatherman says Frost* today
He must've known I'd sent away
Now I'm waiting...
Yes, I fear my local meteorologist may not appreciate the significance of finding 'par avion' in one's mailbox. However, he did say 'Frost* possible,' so I'm going to stick with that forecast.
Well, today I put the kettle on and stared at the letterbox.
Nothing. Zilch.
How can Gig Budddy get his copy on Saturday and mine's still "Lost". We live in the same city.
(When I say city, I mean "Working Museum: How we used to live 100 years ago")
Still waiting for EIMA to arrive... Bloody postman...
Mine's not shown up yet either. I did comment that East Anglia is a long way off the beaten track but mine clearly wasn't posted the week in advance that it takes to compensate for this.
No Frost* in the mailbox today. Rinse. Repeat. Better luck tomorrow.
Got highly excited at the Jiffy bag that was waiting for me when I got home...
It was a DVD of Noel Clarke's 'Adulthood'. Pah.

Looks like the colonies and beyond have been favoured in our stead, which is to be applauded, frankly. We'll all get it eventually, and those in distant, foreign lands are to be kid-gloved in this respect. Granted, charity may have been in far shorter supply had not a kindly soul pointed out the availability of a lesser-quality intermediate version on e-music. :D

lol... my two options in the next coupla days are thus :
1 - EIMA über-edition, with celebrity-vandalism + DVD wotsit, or...
2 - Boxed set of Jimmy Cagney DVDs.
It'll be a conflicted day if both arrive.
naaaaaaaah... i'll just blast EIMA,
then watch some Jim-bob.
Change of plans :D , download from that e-music site, CD for the car, Load MP3 player whilst listening to said download.
Sorry JM, but clear the decks of Tall Ships, EIMA has just arrived in port
Quote from: "Ivor"Looks like the colonies and beyond have been favoured in our stead,
not this one. :(
but that's cool, I can be patient, I know how much work it is to get it here.
yeah, i couldn't wait. i dl'ed from e-music.
I cried...
I'll end up having three copies of this disc.
It's a wonderful wonderland.
