So who's going to see Dec et al (including our very own flamadiddle (//http://www.frost-music.co.uk/frosties/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=305) on geetar) at The HoP in 4 weeks' time?
If you stay for the main act, you'll also get to see me playing drums.........
Alas I hope to be seeing Mr Godfrey playing with Mr Satch in Birmingham on this night, congrats on the drum gig though :D
Major grats Mr. Hippo sir. Hope it all goes well. :)
Many congrats, Hippo! Maybe Dec can get your autograph? Is this a permanent gig or are you still playing with the band you joined recently? In any event, that's very cool.
You're playing drums for Manning?
Blimey!
Well, this looks like a "must-attend" now then!
Thanks chaps!
Yep, I'm playing drums with Manning now.
Good, init?
And yes, permanently (or until Guy gets sick of my bad jokes).
The other band - The Shrinks - is a much smaller, fun affair, which can fit around Manning.
It'll be good to see as many of there as poss! (Jem's got an excuse though.) You'll see Dec & Hywel & me & a whole load of fab people playing some really, REALLY good music.
</hardsell>
PS. Don't go looking for my biog on the Manning website - I haven't made it up... erm... written it yet!
Grats :) Pity it's the other end of the country, sounds like it'll be a good gig.
OK, I've arrived now...what have I missed?
Oh shit. The boss is here.
grats, Hippo!!!! well done, sir!!
and welcome, Guy!!!
Welcome Guy! You haven't missed much, all 37505 posts are here ready for you to read! ;)
Thanks matee... I'll start immeadiately...
Welcome, Guy! Cool to have you here. What's your biscuit?
Biscuit? Please explain... :)
I expect Guy's a Garibaldi man - or perhaps a Gipsy Cream?
I'm going to guess a Rich Tea or a Bourbon. I'm all for Tunnock's Tea Cakes, the actual tea being optional.
Welcome! A new album too eh? I'll get right on the old interwebbysite thing and see about pre-ordering that then good sir! :)
And I'm a digestive with my coffee sort of a man myself...
Last time I had a digestive with my coffee, I lost half of it to the swirling hot liquid oblivion. A pack of Hobnobs arrived today, so it looks like I'll have to put the kettle on tonight. :)
Welcome, Guy! Watch out for that RH, he can be trouble... ;)
Is that you on the website, Hippo? Looking damn' good for 44. I'd have said nearer to 17 myself.
Of course, Guy could easily be a Chocolate Hob-nob - or perhaps a Lemon Puff...
Quote from: "owen"Is that you on the website, Hippo? Looking damn' good for 44. I'd have said nearer to 17 myself.
Gosh, thanks!
Thinks: I really must get my agent to hurry up and find a decent photo of me.I can see I shall need to do some private biscuit investigation when I'm round at Guy's tomorrow night...
Normally my Julie's famous home made Cookies with Sultanas ...in yummmyyy
But I used to love and could devour whole packets of SPORTS with those nice stickmen playing cricket etc on the front of them
Guy
Do I need to go for therapy now?
Guy's here.
heh
See you at The Peel !
Quote from: "GuyM"Do I need to go for therapy now?
This IS therapy. :D
Welcome aboard.
going to see if I have straight jacket pics somewhere...
here we go

...No, I won't ask. :P
Cool avatar, Mouse!
Why, thank you, sir! :D
indeed! and the red one at the 'tank, too!
Cheers, Rog!
I went to see a film called The Town today. The action all takes place in Boston, primarily in a small part of the city called Charlestown. That made me smile, as I kept expecting to see the Manning artwork appearing somewhere.
Good heavens, that was almost back on topic! :o
Charlestown was where my boss lived when I was living & working in Boston.
I'll be at the Peel for this one.
In a remarkable stroke of prog synchronicity, Charlestown is about 1.5 miles away from Saltaire where I was this lunchtime.
Not the one I was on about it isn't.....
Charlestown, Cornwall, UK
So you're saying your band have no idea what you are going on about...
Nope
I am saying we all have our own Charlestowns!
Where's yours?
In transit to The Peel :D
Quote from: "GuyM"Not the one I was on about it isn't.....

A mere 362 miles out!
Given the subject matter of Charlestown-the-choon, I'd kind of guessed it wasn't the land-locked one near Saltaire. Made me chuckle though. Also made me double check in case my complete immersion in it lately hadn't started to affect my conscious as well as my unconscious mind...
No, if you were to write a song about
that Charlestown, it'd be about... actually, bugger all happens there.
Quote from: "RacingHippo"In a remarkable stroke of prog synchronicity, Charlestown is about 1.5 miles away from Saltaire where I was this lunchtime.
Which is another prognicity as I was passing this place of the same name (//http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saltair,_Utah) just last week.
Anyone wanting to know more about John Kennards dubious past should visit the MANNING Website - (http://www.guymanning.com (http://www.guymanning.com)) and read his biog
I still can't believe he let you put that up about him :o
I'm disappointed that there's no reference to his buttock-buckling finest moment. That's how most Frost*ies know him.

Well, I guess you've got to be known for
something.
Indeed....

To paraphrase Roger:
Heh.
Also: That photo is SO unflattering. But then I was 8 months pregnant at the time.
I have one question for RH.
Is it true that when you ran your own company, the employees, when questioned about the level of work, would always reply...
"Yes, I work for Kennard" :D
Quote from: "RacingHippo"Also: That photo is SO unflattering. But then I was 8 months pregnant at the time.
Ah! was it a boy, girl or cornish pastie?

Steak and Ale pie, as it happens.
Twins.
I had cravings for cornish pasties and licorice allsorts when I was pregnant. And strange dreams about Jeremy Clarkson.
(Probably explains a lot about my boys...)

You mustn't make me laugh. Laughing is painful right now :(

I do wish I hadn't read "faring" above as "farting"...
Good luck to all for that then Guy. Bit far for me to go though. Still, the new album arrived on Friday and it's rather good :)
Best of luck - sorry I'm off in Yorkshire at the time catching up with my folks.
Wow, they must've had quite a head start.
:D
Badum (and indeed) Tish
Quote from: "tomskerous"Best of luck - sorry I'm off in Yorkshire at the time catching up with my folks.
So the rare occasion that we head south for a gig is the one weekend when you head to Yorkshire? Typical!
We'll wave as we pass on the other side of the M1.
Quote from: "catherine"I do wish I hadn't read "faring" above as "farting"...
That's what they call a premonition, isn't it?
If you are in Yorkshire then why not pop in and see the TANGENT and UNITOPIA playing at the Wesley Centre in Maltby?
Nice plug sir! Nice plug! :D
That might have been a nice plug, but this one's even better...

Scenes from a night's dream, poor little Nemo! :)
Spoke to DEC yesterday - all is set over at DAM camp
We are pretty ready too..so let's go...
See you Saturday
GuyM
Thanks to the lovely people in the Manning camp, and the lovely LFE and Philadelphia, I'll be able to attend this gig. And I can't bloody wait! :D
There are some remarkably kind and generous people in the world, and I feel honoured to know a load of them. :)

's true.
Ta. :D *makes mental note not to forget to take Rog on Saturday*
oh yes, you must take (p)Rog along - I'm sure Dec and the lads would be pleased to see him!
so how did it go boys ?
It was excellent! Dec and the lads played a storm - they just keep getting better, and Manning, featuring our very own RacingHippo, was very good too. (And I'm not a boy...)
Destroy All Monsters were fab. Maximum rock. 8-) Manning were brilliant, too. I felt incredibly proud watching our RacingHippo handle his complex parts (oo-er) with much charisma and professionalism. A top gig. :D

Dec and some Godfrey tosser weren't very impressed with one of the punters, though...

Heh indeed!
That's some sunburn that RH has for October... ;)
I love RH's slightly worried expression!
Quote from: "catherine"I love RH's slightly worried expression!
I'd seen what was happening to Guy in front of me - someone had evidently made him angry...

Were you clobbering your cowbell at the time, RH? (that's not a euphemism!)
Quote from: "catherine"Were you clobbering your cowbell at the time, RH? (that's not a euphemism!)
Admittedly Guy did have a few things to say about having that thing about 3 inches behind his head...
