Title: RWA - ELEVEN
Post by: RWA on November 10, 2011, 04:20:43 PM
A 'no keys, just guitars' track celebrating the new additions to my studio called ELEVEN (//http://www.box.net/rwa).

Ibanez S470L guitar (with DiMarzio picks)

Yamaha BBN5L-II bass
(//http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6033/6263188024_c9f40f32b8.jpg)

That's eleven strings in total. Hence the brilliant title!  ;)

Also the first time in 12 years I play the bass again myself.
One part of me thinks this track is done. The other part of me want to put in more stuff.
But I'd like to avoid using keys for this one. What do you think?!

I'm getting an error, it goes to box.net but says file unavailable or been removed.

I  can understand you wanting to add to it, I would therefore issue the challenge of adding but NO KEYBOARDS!!
Tbh I think it's rather good as it is now and nice bass work!!

Thanks.  :)

As said, one day it feels finished .... the other day it doesn't. Usually I add keys to fill it up but I don't want to this time.....  :|

Another goodie there Ron - agree about the riffage.  I think it works well as it is - it's a bit different from your usual material due to the lack of keys but it works with the guitars being given space.  Maybe a YYZ style string pad at 3:40-ish at most but otherwise I think you're done.
Except for some bassoon obviously.  ;)

Another cracking contibution.
If you feel the need to tinker with it my suggestion would be bring the guitars up a bit
Balance sounds a little better towards the end of the track

K, thanks. I'll look into that.
btw, what's a contibution?  ;)

I'll leave it alone for now. I've heard the damn thing 100+ times now. I'll get back to it later.  :)

Officially released now : ELEVEN (//http://rwamusic.bandcamp.com/track/eleven-2)

I've revisited the track several times in the last month but couldn't find anything substantial to add. Which in my world means..... it's done!  :D

Nice man, like the guitars in the middle, quite classic Rush, always a good thing.

Like this a lot Ron. Not meaning to be rude or whatever, but I much prefer your playing on this compared to what was being done in your former incarnation.

Much more musical, to my ears.
