Wow; good stuff, that man. Any problem with me downloading the videos?

Just took a wee look at Saline and noticed that I'm halfway between you and the stage. Hopefully the fact that I took a bunch of pictures with my camera held up above me doesn't interfere with anyone's viewing pleasure significantly or that the back of my dancing bald head didn't create too many distracting reflections  ;)

Ive got the original files which are .Mov and quality is better than the ones online but the dividing line is around 1GB as a .Mov and i changed them down to .WMV at around about 200mb for uploading so help yourself. The original files are 9.5GB in total so rather a lot to upload. If i get chance i may replace them one at a time with the better quality footage.

Thanks, Fogey; anticipating your gracious agreement (knowing that Frost*ies are like that  :) ), I downloaded the .webM versions from YouTube last night and they're certainly fine to be going on with. Don't bust a gut to make the higher quality ones available for the moment; make it 2012 project  ;)

I would just like to say a MAHOOSIVE thank you to Fogey and, indeed, all the other video contributors (you know who you are) who took the time out from enjoying the show to provide those of us who were not fortunate enough to be there in person, the ability to be a part of the evening!! Herculean contribution and much appreciated!

Many many thanks. Looks like it was a whole lot of fun.

If you don't fancy uploading them yourself, you could burn a DVD or two and I could pop them on my server - my mate works in the data centre it's hosted in so I can get the DVDs popped in the drive and copied off easily.

Failing that I could upload them at work, I'm sure they wouldn't mind me tying up the 100mbit line for a few minutes.

If you PM me your address i will chuck a couple of dvds in the post. Ive just compared originals to those online and to be honest their isn't a massive difference picture wise but the sounds miles better.

Ah ... I was actually going to ask that very question: I'm not hugely fussed about the pictures (given where you were standing), but to have a complete recording at higher quality would be good.

As well as / instead of making the higher quality video available, what about stripping out the audio track and making that available via SoundCloud or even via the odds and sods Frost* bits collection webpage (which someone put together, can't recall who now)?

Would a quiet word with Jem be prudent before making his audio widely available in good quality?
Just a thought...

Thou art wise, thou are prudent, thou art ... Pedro.

Indeed, a prior quiet word would be sensible.

Especially as a punters/fans definition of good quality might vary to that of Jem's by some margin ;)

Can't thank you enough for this, old bean!  I've never regretted giving up some of my freedom to move, laugh and generally respond to film Frost* in Islington last year, so your sacrifice is welcomed! :-)

It was more for my son than anything else as he was too young, thirteen, to get in The Peel. He was devastated he couldn't go and hes a big Frost* fan. He plays just about any instrument you put in front of him and hes facinated by Jems blogs where he shows how to build tracks using samples and real instruments. He can play quite a few of the tracks on drums and guitar parts to Toys and a couple of other tracks. Wish i could!

Just checked again and the picture quality from >MOV to >WAV doesn't change much at all. Its the conversion YouTube use thats made the picture more blocky.
Ive tried extracting the audio and thats fairly easy, its by no means excellent but you do get to hear the full gig.
As i said before i put it up for those who couldn't get there, or see it because the room was so full! (You know who you are! )
Not sure about the audio online idea though.

When i get time i will put the full gig onto dvds, and a seperate audio folder. Just to see how many i need!

Ive made a Dvd of the gig for myself  and one for Mouse. The audio on its own was around 1.3Gb as wav files. I will see what Mouse thinks on the audio front. Its not ideal but that little camera doesn't seem to suffer from distortion caused by loud volume like most camera phones do.

If anyone can get an answer and somewhere to host the files then thats a good thing. Not sure that the quality is that brilliant though but you do get the whole gig.

Good news, everyone!

Quote from: "Jem"Hello mate,

I have no problem at all with you getting hold of a vid of the gig. If anything it just reminds me that I should pull my finger out and get a DVD made once and for all.  :D

In the meantime, thank you for taking the time to watch a bootleg. I hope we don't play like utter c****.  :D

All the best and thanks again, Jx

I'm encoding the DVD into standard h.264 video as I type, so I'll see if that turns out better than the YouTube ones.

Hello everyone. Sorry for the radio silence of late (well, forum silence, I'm still on Twitter). I finally remembered to upload the DVD that Fogeyspasm kindly sent me (a thousand thank yous to him!), and linked it on Twitter earlier. Unfortunately, they're all separate files. I'm hoping to find a way to stitch them together without losing any quality.

For now, they're available here (//http://www.drarok.com/frost/files/view/Frost%20Xmas%202011).

I'll try to come on more often, but life seems to be screaming along lately at a million miles an hour!

Drarok out.
