Please keep our friend Ron in your thoughts. He evidently crashed into a tree yesterday and has a major concussion with swelling of the brain, several broken ribs, a broken leg and other injuries. He's reportedly in and out of consciousness. Scary stuff. I hope he'll be okay. :(
Thanks for posting this, A.J. Here's the (translated) announcement from his children:
"Hi, bad news unfortunately.
My dad has had a serious accident with his car yesterday. He is now included in the intensive care unit at the UMCG.
He is between oude pekela and veendam with his car on a folded tree. He has several ribs broken, a pneumothorax, piece of his pelvis broken and has broken his thigh. He is among the wounds and has a serious concussion. There is a swelling in his brain. This is well monitored. He is today operated on the break in his thigh. His condition is currently stable but he is not approachable. He opens his eyes sometimes and notes that you are with him. Furthermore there is still nothing clear about how it happened but he has very lucky, because his car is completely total los. Because we do not know who we need to call you personally so we keep up to date. If there are changes we will let you know via facebook.
Greetings, Daan Waane and Erma Gam"
Sorry to hear that, wishing Ron all the best and my thought are with him and his family.
Oh dear, that's really sad. :( Not heard from Ron for a while on here but he used to be a regular contributor to the forum and is also a very talented musician. Best wishes to Ron and family and here's to a speedy recovery.

Today's update:
"Just a small update about Ronald.
We (Daan and Erma) have just been told this afternoon that Ronald is transferring into the Department of Neurology.
Here we hoped also most on, because we are the most concerned about brain damage.
Yesterday, he had surgery on his thigh. It was a difficult operation and that we also have conscience. Ppff. ... What can a few hours than long say!
Ronald is still not conscious, but last night he already had his eyes open longer than the past 2 days. And with each small improvement we are all happy again.
Love from us and thanks for all the sweet messages!!
Daan and Erma (Translated by Bing)"
Seems to me to be such an injustice for such appalling bad luck to happen to such a decent and talented chap. My thoughts are with Ron and his family. Lets hope he makes a full recovery.

I think that says it all.... Get well soon Ron!
Indeed, I echo the sentiments being posted everywhere - here's hoping for a a full recovery and getting Ron back on the forum before too long.

hear hear! It's shocking to hear of such a thing happen to someone we're so used to being active in our little community. Soon may he recover so that he can rejoin the fun.
The City Sleeps... Ronald is AWAKE!
Quote from: Ron's daughterYEEAHHH,
this is one of the happiest days of my live!
Ron was laughing at us when we came in hospital and didn`t let go of our hands.
He was drumming with Daans hand(ofcourse...duh...) and he took my hand and kissed me twice!!!
He was very tyred after that,so we wanted to go home.
When i asked him if we had to stay or go he said after a few second: WITH ME!!
Thanks for all the support of you guys...
We have a long way to go,but it`s gonna be a good way!!!
Still a long road to recovery, but good news.
Great news, get well soon Ron
yes, fingers crossed
definitely good news!
An update today:
"Just a little update for those who want to know how it is with Ronald.
First of all, thank you all for the lovely cards he gets!!
Currently says the Ronald itself not so many, but us is doing well and I am sure that Ronald the later very like that so many people with him life!!
Currently he lies in the hospital in Winschoten.
We are now working on, along with the Hospital of course to find a nursing home for Ronald. Probably this Zuidlaren.
Here seems to be a Department that many of the problems off know where Ronald has to face.
Wait so again. Meanwhile, the varied somewhat with him. One moment he is very bright and knows to give clear answers (though short answers of course) and the other time it is again absent.
Today we have a mp3 player with it taken for him with his own music there on. Unfortunately he recognized the music does not, but he certainly found it pleasant to listen to.
All in all he is all small steps forward and we still certainly good hope!
Love Erma Gan
For the American and English people: Ron is in a local hospital at the time. We are trying to find a better place in a nurseryhome where they are specialised in neurology.
It's a little bit up and down at the moment.
Sometimes he is very clear and talks a little bit ... the other time he sleeps a lot.
Today we had some music for him with his own music on it, but he didn't recongnize it!(sorry guys from formative!) haha But we are sure he liked the music, because he was shaking his head.
After all he is getting little steps forwards and that's the most important thing to know.
Lots of love Erma "
Slow steps, but good news! :D
Wow. *sigh*
I've only received a couple of mp3s for Ron's get well card, so I haven't sent it yet, but would like to soon. If anyone is interested, there's still time for inclusion. Just send an audio message via mp3 to me at eima.aj@gmail.com
Sorry, Gonz, (and Ron!) I have been remiss. I'll try to bash something out today.
