Title: Red Bazar album now available for Pre-order!
Post by: tigermoth on March 04, 2016, 09:49:59 PM
I know there's a Red Bazarr Thread somewhere else on here, but I thought it might be worth another one here.  Good even tide folks. Just a quick headsup to let those know who are interested, the new Red Bazarr album is now available for pre-order from White Knight Records: http://www.mrsite.co.uk/usersitesv37/125409.mrsite.com/wwwroot/page23.htm Red Bazarr are a fantastic band and it's been my great pleasure to right and perform all the lyrics for this new venture. If you like Red Bazarr and you like Tiger Moth Tales, you'll like this. Here's a teaser: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14720207/Red%20Bazarr%21%20-%20Album%20Teaser.mp4 Many thanks in advance from the bazarr boys and myself. We hope you enjoy it.

Afternoon Frosticals. I know we're all thrilling about Frost at the moment, but thought I'd post this here as a reminder for those interested. :)
It gives me indecent pleasure to announce that Red Bazar's Tales From The Bookcase is released today, which presumably means that for all those beautiful people who pre-ordered the copies will be winging their way to you. Those stil wishing to order the album can do so from these outlets:
www.whiteknightrecords.co.uk  or the equally beautiful
www.caerllysimusic.co.uk
To try before you buy you can hear our sampler here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3PxMLkmFPw
A huge thanks from myself and the Bazar boys to buyers and prospective buyers. We really hope you enjoy this thing we've made. :)

Well it is due to be released today indeed, but the site is still showing 'Pre Order'. Hopefully it will switch to 'Buy' during the day and that everyone who has pre ordered gets their delivery PDQ  :)

In defence of the White Knight team they're usually pretty hot at getting stuff mailed out, so I have no concerns on that front !!

Well, my copy arrived yesterday and I'm on my 2nd listen through already.  I bought it without hearing a note because with 2 Frost*ies involved, I knew it was bound to be good!  ;)

And I'm not disappointed - many congrats gents.  8) It's probably wrong to look for points of reference as Red Bazar have their own sound but I think that the sound will appeal to fans of bands like Darwin's Radio and Jadis.  Interestingly, I found the songs got better (or more to my taste perhaps) as the album went on, which is the opposite of many albums which hit you with all the good stuff early on but then just fizzle out with filler. I suspect Wish You Were Here may be in the band's collection (lovely RW-type sounds at the end of Almost Over, Gary :))).  Quite a mid-era Genesis tinge to City And The Stars.  Sunset For A New World appeals to my guitar tendencies.  There is a definite early PT feel to the start of Queen Of The Night Part 2 and possibly even hints of Frost*'s Welcome To Nowhere with the vocal treatments on Calling On Her.

Talking of vocals, Pete, you just keep getting better!  These are world class vocals sir.  Interestingly, although it is clearly recognisable as you, in the context of this band (as opposed to TMT), there is a slightly harder Ray Wilson-esque tone to your singing, which really suits you.

This one will be in the CD player / iPod for a long while.  8)

Thanks so much for your kind words and first Frost*ie review!
I agree Pete did a really stunning job with the vocals - some of the close harmony work he did filled out the sound more than instrumentation alone would ever have done.
I think most bands tend to wear their influences on their sleeves to a degree, but although I know Pete and myself are true Genesis believers I think the rest of the band have very different (and diverse) musical heroes.
The funny thing abut the keys on the end of Almost Over was that I never really intended them to stay in the final mix - I just sorta noodled around filling space assuming there would be a guitar solo, or maybe a guest solo from Pete, so I didnt really pay much heed to the style or content of what I was playing to be honest - I just bashed it down! Next thing I know its in the final bleedin' mix!
And listening back to it, weeks after I'd recorded it, I too was struck by the similarity to the Rick Wright style and synth noise I'd used. Again totally accidental, as I dont listen to an awful lot of Pink Floyd really, being a Banks kinda guy. But I do have a soft spot and respect for keyboard players who go for more atmospheric or supportive roles such as Wright, or Richard Barbieri of Porcupine Tree. It's the spaces that are left between notes and the affect you have on the vibe of a track which float my boat, rather than shredding all over a track. Plus I can't shred anyway so it's a win-win situation lol  :D
Thanks again - it really means a lot coming from a fellow Frost*ie!

Excellent work guys

Pete knows what's coming next, & he's going to be busy, Red Bazar 2, Story tellers 2, Cocoon 2

Ah Gary, you beat me. I was just about to post the TPA review. My god, that's some review is it not? :) I think Leo knows more about the album than we do. :) Brilliant.
Thanks for the great feedback everybody. I'm not sure if it's the joys of spring, but I'm extremely happy today and these kind words are making it even better.
DS, thanks a lot sir. I believe I've previously unintentionally channeled Phill Collins, but I feel on this album I intentionally tried to channel all three Genesis vocalists, so well done on the Ray Wilson point. :) I too think the album builds and gets better as it goes on, a bit like Cocoon. I firmly believe this is how albums should really be, though I know why there's such a temptation to shoot the big guns first especially these days with so much competition. I'm glad we did it that way. :)
Re Camel, I am taking a few vocals duties on the tour. Re writing and recording, it wouldn't be telling too much to say that Andy and I have swapped a few noodles here and there, but nothing so firm as writing or recording plans have been made or really mentioned. But one never knows. :)
Cocoon 2, I don't think there is one. Story Tellers 2? Next year. Red Bazar 2? Probably next year. Some kind of TMT album, maybe the end of this year. :)
Anything else you'd like Mikey? :)
I now have a question. Have you been putting anything out recently DS, or are you working on anything?

Thanks again chaps, and please do tell your mates. :) Mothster.

Funnily enough, I did just complete a new album's worth of material last week but it is really just noodlings for my own amusement and should not be mentioned in the same thread as professional music by Red Bazar or TMT.  :-[ :o
However, if you want a copy Pete, just PM me your address and I'll send you a copy.  8)

I'm loving this, and I want to support good music and friends, but I'm going to open a can of worms and say that with the exchange rate across the pond, $15+ for a digital download is too much.  I'm not going to steal it from the internet anywhere, but at this point, I'll probably just be streaming it from Bandcamp.  :(
Title: Re: Red Bazar album now available for Pre-order!
Post by: tigermoth on April 08, 2016, 01:34:19 PM
Well DS, you may think that about your noodles, but don't forget it was you inpart who inspired me to make Story Tellers, so I must have liked sumat I heard. :) :)
For those wanting a downloadable version, it's now available on Bandcamp:
https://redbazar.bandcamp.com/album/tales-from-the-bookcase

Where we sit on the price issue is a tricky one. On one hand from a biased point of view I think it's kind of worth it ;)  and there are 5 of us to split any proceeds with, as opposed to something like my releases in the past. On the other hand, I no other bands aren't charging that much for downloads, though I bet some are charging more.
The beauty is that it is indeed all there to stream, so I guess if after several listens it seems worth the price then that's a good thing. The more likely outcome of course is that after 3 or 4 listens which is probably the most times people will listen to an album these days anyway ... well you don't need to buy it then do you. Lol
So, I don't now what to say about that one and it's not me who sets the price. The main thing I guess is that folks enjoy the music, after all, what genuine artist does it for the money? Lol

I see what you mean Rog. I'm not sure how the figure was arrived at at, but I agree it does seem a bit pricey compared to many other Bandcamp downloads.
I'll have a discussion with the rest of the guys as soon as possible, but then if the cost is lowered it does seem unfair to the people who have only just bought it at the existing price, so it may be something for the future when sales have slowed down.
One thing we are doing - and I'm not sure how prevalent this is - is to offer a download of the album artwork and the 8 page inlay with full lyrics.

Thanks, guys.  The artwork/booklet is certainly an incentive, and perhaps when I'm feeling a bit more flush (taxes were painful this year...) I'll pop for it.  It's always a internal conversation when I buy from across the water with the exchange rate sitting as it does.  At least for right now, I'm thankful for fast internet and Bandcamp!  ;D

That's better. And Mikey, well if you aren't normal I thank the prog gods for that. :)
Speaking of Bandcamp releases, I may have a little smackerel of something coming up on Bandcamp soon. Just something to watch for. Opps, sorry for temporarily highjacking the post. :)

Exciting! Exciting! :) Well it's taken a little while, but here it is in all it's glory. The official video for Queen Of The Night Part 1, from the Red Bazar album Tales From The Bookcase.

Please check out the video, and for anyone wanting to purchase the album it's right here at www.whiteknightrecords.co.uk
Enjoy the vid, it was fun to make. :) (Warning, may contain traces of gimpy looking singer) :)

In other news, thanks again folks for all the great feedback. We really appreciate it. As sawtooth says, we had our first official full rehearsal last week. I would post a spoiler to show you how good it was, but well ... it would spoil things. :) I'm lucky to be working with these chaps and the gigs should be great!

Well, the next TMT gig is this weekend at Summers End. The next RB jobs are in December. I can't recall both the dates just now, but rest assured we will soon start promoting them. :)
