I'd liken this particular pickle to biscuits. Let's say each Frost* report is a biscuit (oh go on then, TWO biscuits) and a 'making of' dvd is a great big unopened pack of biscuits. I'm far more likely to have a couple of biscuits now and then than sit and scoff down a whole pack (tempting as that may be sometimes). I enjoy the biscuits more this way, plus I don't get too tubby but I think the analogy has kind of run out by this point.
Of course, it'd still be lovely to have a DVD with all the biscu... ahem, a DVD with all the Frost* reports on with the new album too, as with EIMA. Plus, as others have said, it's such a great way to spread the word while the album's being made to help get new Frosties. It's a huge winner on the fan-to-band connection front for existing Frosties too
As for potential album spoilers, it's generally fairly apparent when Jem's going to be showing bits of the album in progress (sat at his computer with multitrack software open or someone next to a microphone, etc.) so you could always hit 'mute' on YouTube for those bits if you want to keep the music itself a surprise.
