Mantis is absolutely superb. Absolutely.

Here's to hoping Jem takes the exact opposite tactic on the next Frost* album and uses all three of these drummers, completely removes any cymbal or snare work, and turns the third release into an entirely tribal-drummed extravaganza. You know you are tempted, Jemmy boy...

If my red asterisk Frost* shirt that I was so excited to get has anything to do with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tChlFbQxcx4

If I haven't been properly appreciative before, THANK YOU SO MUCH, FROST* STAFF. It's harder to thank you for your hard work before you get your CD, but once it's all there and you've had some time to reflect, a hearty blurb of gratitude is far beyond merely in order. Seriously, dude and chicks, well done. Way to turn what could have been a promotional fiasco and turn it into a chance for more than half the forum to have a personal conversation with the bassist... Hehe.

Quote from: "LivingForever"Dare I ask if those still waiting sent a PM to Mr Jowitt or The Lovely Deb to ask if their order had been passed on by CRS?

Apparently mine was mailed out Dec. 6 according to TLD.  Sheesh, even Liquid has his.

I know, you should have it. It made it to damn Nowhere, Missouri before it made it wherever you are.

But these things happen. I lost Pawn Hearts in the mail for three months. During which they sent me another one, thinking it was gone forever. And then all of the sudden I had two. There may yet be a bright side: you might be able to sell a copy to the used CD store. Yay.

Mine arrived a week ago and I'm still very happy.

To be honest--I'm liking it a lot more than I anticipated. I expected to enjoy it, but I figured it would be poppier and less intense and whatnot. Well, I was wrong. To be honest, it feels like aside from a few choruses, Jem moved even further away from pop music. All the stops and starts and sudden shifts remind me a lot more to Mr. Bungle than to even simple neo-prog.

Well done, Jem. Kudos, a couple of handclaps, a friendly handshake, and voila--I picked your pocket. Better watch out next time.

Right. I'll write up a review of it in the next few weeks, I think, on progarchives. I really anticipated giving it three or four stars. Shows I was wrong. There is more right in this one album than (gasp) Marillion has done yet. Don't tell Pete.

Oh, strange. Didn't catch either of those. Interesting. I even read the lyrics and didn't come up with either of those conclusions. Neat. How is Wonderland a sequel to Milliontown?

Not to be too off topic, but did anyone else find it odd to find the protagonist in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly as the antagonist in the new Bond movie?

That Dear Dead Days doesn't appear to be about zombies. I was kind of hoping for two albums in a row and all. I mean, if you ignore the lyrics, it really could be. The name has plenty to do with dead things. The John Mitchell freak wall of voices could certainly represented a host of mindless flesh eaters.

Although, the idea of the song being about excessive nostalgia and seeming to rag on the whole hobbit scene is kind of funny.

That is, am I right? Or am I just confused again?

Quote from: "ich_bin_besser"My sigs all look normal. The only one I can actually read is "Andy", though.

Same here. There's a bunch of random J-names around, though.

Whew, I know. I'm very glad to finally have this. I've not only stayed away from downloading it, I've more or less stayed away from all discussions about it and stuff. So Welcome to Nowhere, Dear Dead Days, and the hidden track all took me completely by surprise--the hidden track most of all, because it is not in the slightest what I expected.

Thanks, JJ, TLD, whoever else. I hope everyone else is starting to get to enjoy their copies as well.

Oh, question. Does anyone else have four or five completely illegible signatures on the front of their CDs? I was kind of disappointed that I am unable to read them, as I was expecting something goofy and fun. Oh well. The black matte/black gloss artwork, especially the inside of the folds, looks absolutely stunning.

Oh, Ghostbusters. Not surprised. Every common joke that I've never heard either comes from Ghostbusters or American Pie...

Holy crap, I think you're on to something. Mellow/marshmallow... That could be it.

Not so familiar with the Stay Puft thing, though. What is that about? I keep hearing that mentioned, and yet I've never really seen them in stores.

Is it strange that I inexplicably tie the word mellow to the concept of fluffiness?
