Frost* / Re: Merch...
March 11, 2021, 03:44:56 PM
A couple of my bands use these online fulfilment sites - basically they don't hold stock as such and are printed on demand, so the band don't have to shell out ££££ upfront for merch that doesn't always shift.
Therefore the styles offered aren't really down to the band as the fulfilment site can pretty much put the logo's on anything.

Let's hope for some gigs and some proper merch at them!!!

Mine arrived yesterday too, with today being the 3rd anniversary of going to London for the Dingwalls gig so that's today listening!!!!
It's a beautiful set, with all of the lovely artwork by Vitamin P looking stunning - I'd love to see prints of some of this available at sometime (I do have the calendar from a few years ago which kind of does this with some of the art).

Eddie Van Halen redefined electric guitar playing - so many players from the 80s onwards have been influenced either directly or indirectly by what he did.
I was one of the generation of kids who grew up watching their live videos when we were first getting into bands - a real influence on my early years, despite being a drummer!!!!

Announcements / TBE back in the saddle

Not only does TBE have his new project 'Rain' on the go, he's also back teaching drums, either face to face or via t'internet.

Obviously we all know he has monster skills, and having studied with him myself (albeit years ago) I can highly recommend.

Real shame. Came to the party very late but after a few of my favourite bands and musicians (including our Jem) cited them as an influence I got tyhe 'Leader of the Starry Skies' tribute from a few years back, and then got much of the back catalogue - totally bonkers in places, but in a really good way.

Love that during the walk around the ship, Jem says - work out what it'll look like upside down and full of water  ;D ;D ;D

Over on the book of faces so I'm guessing most of you will have seen it, but EP to be released on June 5th - apparently all the 'big push' will start in the next couple of days.

QuoteMissed the advent calender  :'(, just wondering what might be in the mix for 2020 in the Frost*ieverse? Happy New Decade...
Happy New Year/Decade!!!
Hopefully in the near future (i.e. next few months) we'll get to hear about the plans, but so far in the pot of 'things we know to exist/in development' are
:
New EP - teased the cover a few months back
Camden DVD - filmed, mixed, and some tracks up on Youtube
Remastered/rerecorded versions of MillionTown * EIMA - apparently versions were done with Blunders & Nath playing - -whether these are in addition to Jem's oft discussed 'remix/remasters' is unknown - could this all be part of the 8 disc set that was mentioned on here a few months ago???
new album - the Godfrey/Mitchell collective have been running off to exotic locations ( :P) to apparently write the next Frost* epic - whether any of this has been recorded as anything other than demo's yet is unclear
Finding a new drummer - Blunders has stated in his recent fb post (confirming the posts from both sides earlier last year) that the activity he already has booked for the next two years means he's not able to be part of the next stage of Frost* - so on to who will replace him and presumably involving them in the recording etc

Personally I'm hoping for the EP and DVD sometime between now and April along with an update on the drummer and plans for this year. Then maybe drop the 'collection' set (if it IS a thing) in the summer (whilst hopefully recording on the new album is done) and then go for a October/November album release with tour to support. But I'm greedy, and the boys said in the Rockfield interview 7/4 doesn't pay the bills so any plans could get derailed by 'real' work/life

 ;D ;D ;D ;D
Well, that was a teeny bit awesome (master of understatement!!!).

Blunders was on blinding form - his playing has moved up a few gears since I last saw him in action, and although he was there 'with' Roland he didn't do a hard sell, just demonstrated how he use tech to augment his sound and in his practice regime.
Also played two kits, one of which was part of Steve Wilson rig (a 16" bass drum and two small toms) to show one of the new trigger modules designed for hybrid drumming.
He also shared some stories about his own insecurities and nerves and how he's learning to deal with them and the net idiots who seems to want to knock anyone who is succeeding at whatever they do.
Had a quick chat with him afterwards and he said to say hi to everyone on here. And if you get chance to catch him on anything like this (or the Hackett tour) do - you will not be disappointed.

May be of interest to some of you as Blunders is off on a tour-ette of PMT stores, in his role as a Roland ambassador and demoer of hybrid drums
I'll be at Brum ;-)
