Other Bands / Re: Filling the Frost* void....

Yeah, Porcupine Tree are pretty incredible, and most certainly worth trying out. I've fallen in love with Lightbulb Sun, but I started with Fear of a Blank Planet and Deadwing, two absolutely incredible albums.

Quote from: "Ben Y-S"Yeah, I complained about the album artwork when it came out, but their new single Faster seems to have helped to redeem themselves slightly. From first listen, it sounds pretty brilliant, and I'm glad, because I was getting rather worried. =P And the single artwork is a lot more professional than the album's, if only it was the other way round...

Listening to the single again for the 2nd time and it doesn't really sounds like Within Temptation to me, it sounds like a deliberate attempt to sound more commercial almost like recent Bon Jovi not good Bon Jovi either, between this and the album cover I'm going to hold off on buying tickets for their November gigs until I've heard the whole album

I can see what you mean, it's not really them, but from what I heard of the other song they've released, Where is the Edge, didn't really stand out to me after listening to it, whereas this did, so I can't complain. The sound is rather reminiscent of Delain in places...

Quote from: "turbo"Saw them live at the brixton academy last year and it was one of the best concerts Ive seen in many many years, not including frost of course.   ;)

I actually hate you. XD I wanted to go to that gig SO badly, but asking my dad to take me down to London from where I live (West Midlands area) after taking me down about three weeks before for Aerosmith was probably asking a bit much. But Aerosmith were incredible, so I guess I won't complain. =P The second they come round again, I'm there.

Gear Corner / Re: E-Drums for Christmas!

I use an electronic kit all of the time (and rather embarrassingly, I've never actually played on an acoustic kit, yet pride myself on being reasonably good with the electronic kit after playing on it for two and a bit years now) and they're pretty cool in my opinion. Unfortunately, it's been a while since my dad got the kit, so now both of the cymbals have died. XD Also the drum pad keeps bobbing about the place like anything now I have my double bass pedal, but hopefully this should all be alleviated when I inherit my dad's acoustic kit...

TCV. I ADORE THIS BAND. Their debut album is in my favourite albums, it's sooooooo good. Gunman has one of the coolest riffs ever, it's so excellent. =P Dave Grohl is incredible on drums, and the whole record pulls influences in from all three of the members' bands without any one of them dominating. I'm a massive QotSA fan, and TCV's album is much better than Era Vulgaris and Lullabies to Paralyze in my opinion. I have said in the past that if I had to make everyone on earth listen to one album, this would be one of my top contenders. =P Can't wait for the next one...

Frost* / Re: Mis-heard lyrics

I've been wearing my Frost* tee from the Bilston gig today as well! Clearly some form of Frost*-related sign =P

Frost* / Re: Mis-heard lyrics

I was listening to the Dividing Line today, and just happened to notice...

Real lyric (near the end): 'You are all liars!'

What I heard (with traffic and other noises in the background): 'YOU ARE A LION'

I sniggered. =P

It's a really fun game. XD The whole 'Optimism is a Force Multiplier' is actually a really cool quote, I may end up stealing that. =P

This is a fun game. Loving the name of the band. XD

That LTE one is rather unimaginative to say the least, and yeah, pretty poor generally. =P

The one I posted isn't the worst album cover ever, there are probably much worse, but it's up there.

Here's my 'comedic relief' one:

One of my favourite albums, but if the font and general look of it wasn't bad enough, you can pretty obviously see the colour difference in the background of the band's photo and the background of the album. I know it was 1973, but come on. XD

I must stress, I really do like them, their earlier work is seriously good, stuff from Mother Earth and the Silent Force, but this is concerning to a new extreme...it's very unlike them, weirdly.

...goes to this monstrosity:

Urghrughrgurgurugrurgh. Worse still, is that Within Temptation produced this beauty only two albums ago:

You think a band capable of making such wonderful artwork would be able to continue the theme, or at least do a new theme properly. I have the Silent Force with extended artwork, and it has some of the best album artwork I've seen. Shame...
