Gear Corner / Re: As Jem is a Kronos man now....

Quote from: "FreeThoughtTH".... Does it have a standard MIDI or USB out or can it ONLY work with the M3 and Radias modules through some funky connections?

No, its a special connector.

I agree about the skip back sampling, love that feature. Having had the G6 for a brief period before , this time I am getting much more out of it. I should have persevered, but that was before the 1.50 update came out - which while good, seemed to push the G more towards the dance market, which I'm not interested in.

You can never have everything right can you? I have the M3 and the Fantom G - realistically I can only keep one, so the enivitable question of which or whether to upgrade to a Kronos comes up.

My M3 screen is also grubby and as for touch phones and ipads, I think i will have to get a cleaner in. I may opt to take the M3 module off and sell the keybed of the M3 and use the G as the controller - I prefer the key action on that anyway.

I was wondering what his thoughts on the Fantom X and G are now with hindsight...which of those did he prefer and is there anything that he misses from those setups?

I wasn't too sure of the EIMA line up and much prefer the Mitchell/Godfrey axis. Not knocking Mr Burke, hes a fine singer and musician, but live especially, I prefer the quartet line-up(s). I am sure there will be quite a few twists and turns on the new one. Prog=progress one hopes, but whatever the label, its all music.

I've been playing DTs Dramatic Turn Of Events up and down from Christchurch to Ipswich since it came out, only being replaced on the last journey with ZZ Tops 'Rhythmeen' and Al Di Meola's ' Consequence of chaos' CDs.

Well I tried out a Cort, I think it was a G280 with seymour duncan pickups and a wilkinson trem - it was OK for the price but I felt it was quite brittle sounding and I didn't really warm to it . Didn't like the two string trees either, which don't help with the tuning, even if it does have locking tuners. I ended up buying a errr.... used Porsche Reed Smith instead. So much for me buying a nice cheap gigging guitar! Onwards to the rock blues covers band and the originals prog project....

Luckily my prowess on the keys is Geddy Lee stylee rather than Godfrey stylee, so I think 61 notes will do and is about as much as i should be allowed to play with!

Favourite biscuit at the moment is a caramelized coffee biscuit from budgens - I do like a shortbread finger though, M'lud. I limit myself to Chocolate hobnobs on very special occasions. Such as joining the Frosties forum pehaps? :)

That there Cort guitar seeems to need an awful lot of tuning, judging by the AGM vids. Are they any good? They seem awfully cheap though.

and for my first post....I wondered if Jem or any other Kronos owners here have had any of the 73/88 note keybed problems (cutting off of notes by the keys re triggering) that have been reported on the Korg Forums. Being a potential purchaser, it would be interesting to know. and hi.... :)
