I got some really soul-crushing news today regarding a family member, and this Frost* Report was the perfect antidote.  "MORE FUCKING PRAM IN THE MIX!" had me *howling*.  Thanks, guys.  Thanks *so* much.

It's a mashup of Wither and Never Gonna Give You Up. Someone had to eventually Astley-fy a DT song, what with the instrumental versions and the Producer's Edition stuff out there.  Just so happens that Wither and NGGYU are the same key and almost exactly the same tempo.  Have at it, Frost*ies!  

Addictive sound way better than EZ in my oppinion. I have used them both and I'm pretty tired of EZ by now. So please check addictive before you make your decision, otherwise you'll regret it!

I'd agree with this - I've been using AD instead of EZD on my newest recordings and I'd say that AD is a superior product - much more tweakable and authentic, sound-wise, for my money.  I do wish there was more cymbal slots though - I'd love to have two crashes, a couple of chinas and a couple of splashes all at the same time.

If you want to hear more Heap/Beck goodness, get a hold of JB's 'You Had It Coming' CD.  A very cool album, IMO.

'Tis called Stranded In The Snow, due to the weather and FUBAR'd-by-a-train-derailment public transport here in sunny Stewarton.  Not a death metal vocal in sight.  In fact there's *no* vocals yet, but I'll finish it before the end of the month, as part of the RPM Challenge.

I could have done without the growly bits, which I think detracted from the track, but otherwise I liked it. Was the guitar solo at around 4 mins played backwards?

Kinda, yeah.  Recorded forwards, then flipped digitally.

The pair of guitar parts at the start don't seem to match up, is one out-of-tune, perhaps?

Other than that, I quite like it. Oh, except the snare sound at the start. Too much ring for me, damp it down a bit and you'll have me sold.

The second time the little twiddly part comes around, I intentionally played one part a semitone higher, to fling in a bit of dissonance.  Because as we all know, dissonace = teh br00talz.   :evil:  

As far as the drum sound goes, it's just a preset from Addictive Drums.  If/when I go back and do a 'final' version of this (with the rest of the band I'm in doing their bits) I'll be a bit more anal about the drum sound.

Have at it, gents.  The big ginger bearded one is Toma, my fellow axe-slinger, and the other, constipated singy one is Ross, bass player extraordinaire.

Here it is.  Warning- It's a heavy track with death vocals.  It does have a cheeky musical nod to King Crimson in the middle, though - bonus biscuits to whoever spots it.

It's a version of a song I'm playing with a recently-re-formed band I've re-joined.  Yeah, that's a lot of 're-'s.  It's called Sweet Rebellion, and it features the first time I've ever had a crack at doing harsh/growling vocals.  Usually the drummer does those bits, but seeing as I was having a go at recording the entire song solo, it was up to me to do those parts, and so I did.

The drums are programmed, and the sounds are from XLN Audio's excellent Addictive Drums virtual instrument.  The rest of the instruments are all me, as are all the vocals.  Some of the singing's a bit shaky, but it was all first/second take stuff, just to get something down to see how it all pans out, arrangement-wise.  I'll go back and re-do the vocals at a later time.

Nice to see Bloodbath's new album & EP on there too.  They're two mighty good slabs of old school Swedish death metal.  If you like that sort of thing.   :twisted:

It's very frustrating to be a music lover when a band this talented puts out so much excellent music, yet goes virtually unnoticed by the industry.  Dropped by Geffen after one album, a cameo in the movie "Airheads" and several albums for Metal Blade only to surrender in 2000.  They should have been huge.

"Space In Your Face" and "At The End Of The Day" are two of my favorite albums - by any band.  I still get annoyed when I think about what could have been with these guys.

I was wondering the other day if Stereo was still going, I played there a few years ago - great wee venue.  The band that was headlining nearly got into a fight with the then-unknown Franz Ferdinand.    :lol:
