maybe, but I figure Jem's going to get the best return from the pre-order, so oh well!!

Yep, shipping to US was a bit rough but I didn't even think twice about it  ;D

Frost* / Vote for Frost*! And other musings
« on: July 09, 2020, 06:26:47 PM »
Hello Frost*ies, long time no see. Just wanted to let you guys know you have less than 24 hours to head over to this poll on reddit and maybe we can get Frost* through to the next round. I don't feel too bad about vote brigading because it's mostly dead here, but I've been trying to get the band some more recognition and anything helps.

On that note, I have also created a subreddit for us over at
If you don't use reddit, that's fine, but I thought it would be nice to have a forum for the group in a place that would be more accessible to people. I'd be happy to make a few of the regulars here into moderators, just let me know on here (and give me your reddit username, or send in a PM or something.)

I thought with the box set and new albums coming up that it would be a good time to start getting the fandom more active again!

Hello frosties! I won this on eBay from Jem himself, probably about 8 or 9 years ago. I don't have a place to hang it anymore, so instead of sitting in a folded up bunch in my apartment, I'm releasing it to the family :) It's about 6 1/2 ft tall & wide. I'm fairly certain I paid about $50 after shipping for it (ebay only shows my purchase history back to 2016) so that's what I'd like to ask for it.

I'm not sure how to decide who gets it - of course I want a true fan of the band to have it. Does a "registration date" bid sound fair? (oldest user who wants it gets it) It's either that or post count...

Bought the TPE re-release disc but then remembered I don't have a disc drive available to rip it to my computer. Would happily pay for it again as digital on bandcamp.

To be fair though JM has no doubt seen a lot of this since Blunders appointment as Steve Wilson's drummer, a job which JM was consulted on his suitability for.
That and coupled with a recent interview Craig has given where he talks about his struggle with confidence and rejection, I see it as a mate sticking up for someone he believes in, and is a damn good drummer (and human being as well).
Might just be that this was the tipping point and the guy got both barrels.

Fair enough, I have seen some of Craig's FB posts about this sort of thing. I hope he knows his talent is real and that so many of us look up to him and love his work.

I think that if he'd said that it wouldn't be a problem. It was the "average" comment that JM took offence at. Blunders, as a drummer is anything but average. And if statements like that remain unchallenged it's not just some vague statement. It's something that affects his rep and therefore his ability to get further work.

I agree about it being unchallenged, and JM certainly corrected that. The direct quote from the offender was "I'm not a fan, I feel his work to be fairly average."  I guess I just feel it was a little overkill to collectively shit on this guy who poorly (but politely) articulated his dislike for Blunders when as a musician he's going to have a lot worse critics out there than this guy. IMO, JM's reply was better suited for the guy saying "Craig is a twat who can't drum his way out of a paper bag." Although now I'm looking forward to what we come up with for that one  ;D

Man, really? I mean I understand that we love Blunders here and all, but this guy's post could be boiled down to "I really liked Craig on this album, even though I'm not a fan of his work in general..." He didn't even make a single assertive statement about Craig, starting every thought with "I think" or "I feel". Where does he say "Blunders sucks!!!"? I understand the issue is that the dislike was aimed at him from a technical perspective, and it came across as the equivalent of saying you don't think Jem's a good keyboard player because you don't like his solos. We're not all perfectly objective though, are we?

Just got to Milliontown. Love that Jem removed the fake-deeper-voice filter off his vocals. :)

Here's the change in frequency response in the new Hyperventilate: They aren't all identical to this but share similarities.

Also it's a shame we couldn't get some 24 bit FLACs here!  :P

From my first listening comparison, I gotta say that Milliontown benefits from the lack of whatever went into the CD mastering. The songs have a little bit more dynamic range (I'll take all I can get!) and the high frequencies are less "piercing." I can do a full frequency analysis later, since I love this sort of thing. One thing I'll be changing on my personal copy, however, is adjusting the relative volumes back to how they were for the original release. "No Me No You" is almost 2-3 dB quieter on this digital release and it just doesn't really feel right in the flow of things, IMO ;)  Of course I'll be lowering the volume of the other tracks to compensate, don't wanna go and ruin it!
