Ask Frost* / Keyboard solos
February 01, 2011, 04:51:54 PM
Just wondering if Jem has some tips and tricks on keyboard solos...for a beginner/intermediate level. Or even better, do you think you'll ever do a "Learn to shred your keyboard with Jem" video or Frost report  :D

Friends Of Frost* / Guitarists wanted!
November 06, 2009, 09:16:01 PM
Hello all,

The It Bites forum are having a fun, "play some It Bites stuff day" Saturday 14th November - however we are desperately short of guitarists!!

If anyone fancies having a bash at a few IB tunes, please post up on the IB forum....thread here: http://www.itbites.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 9702#59702

We're planning on tackling:

Kiss Like Judas
Screaming on the Beaches
Ghosts
Vampires
Ice Melts in to Water

The emphasis is firmly on having fun, there'll be no sniggering at bum notes or knowing winks at out of tune fret wankery...as we'll all probably be guilty at some point during the day.

So, if you're interested, post up here or on the IB forum.

Cheers,

Giles

Ask Frost* / Songwriting and avoiding cheese
August 20, 2009, 04:31:01 PM
My other half and I have been attempting to write songs in the evenings in our converted garage. One thing that seems to be cropping up regularly is cheese! Not the pleasant dairy version but the unpleasant over-poppiness that seems to plague us.

The question is - how does one avoid that nasty, cheesy, nambypambyness and write songs that sound 'grown up'.

Are there any tricks of the trade?

We've tried avoiding 'nice' chords (all the posh ones) and stuck to majors and minors, but the cheese still strikes.

Any thoughts??

Ask Frost* / Vocal effect in BLM
July 21, 2009, 12:24:51 PM
Can anyone tell me what vocal effect(s) are used in BLM - specifically around the 5.30 section?

Kind of sounds like backwards and forwards reverb with very faint flanging but I'm not sure.

Cheers,

Giles

Fushi is the name of my "band"...I say "band" because at the moment it's just me and my other half.

We've written 3 songs so far: //http://www.whiterabbitcreative.co.uk/fushi-music.asp

NEW LINK TO DEMOS HERE: http://www.bandmix.co.uk/fushi

I'd be interested to know what you guys think...eeeeek!

The songs are really just demos - done in Sonar using a variety of plugins. The vocals could do with being done again - these were the guide vocals....however we'd like to do the job properly, which brings me to.....

....We're tentatively looking for a guitarist to play the stuff and write with - so if you like what we've done so far, get in touch. We're looking for someone that is creative and can write/come up with ideas. We have a drummer that's happy to get involved when the time comes.

We're moving in a harder, more proggy direction - think Frost/Evanescence with splashes of It Bites poppiness!

We're based in the Midlands and have a small rehearsal/recording studio in the garden! If you're interested, get in touch through the usual channels (pm, reply, messenger pigeon, smoke signals etc).

Cheers,

Giles
