Hi guys. I'm loving the new album more  and more with every listen. Well done on such a fantastic album.

I would like to bring your attention to a slight defect on side 2 of the first LP at the very start of the record and the introduction of "Lights Out".

There is a very noticeable scratch sound which is a little annoying but doesn't disrupt my enjoyment of the album. I have a clear vinyl copy of the album.  How do I post pics of it from my iPhone?

Does anyone else with a vinyl copy have the same issue?

Not looking for a replacement or anything, just thought I should point it out.

And now, back to the music........

Hi folks.

It's been quite a while since I was last on this board as I lead a rather busy life and don't get much time to frequent message boards unfortunately.

Any news on Frost*s new album being released yet?

Had a quick look around the board for any (recent) news but didn't find anything.

Cheers chaps. ;-)

A few months ago, I was approached by a guitarist friend on youtube asking if I would be interested in being involved in a collaboration of the Rush song called "The Trees" from their Hemispheres album.  It would be a "global" collaboration in which all the players on the track come from all over the world and never actually "meet" each other in person.

Claudio (lead guitarist) from Argentina was originally approached (via youtube) from Amy (classical guitarist) from Canada to ask if she could perform the classical guitar intro to "The Trees" and also the Alex Lifeson classical solo "Broon's Bane" from Rush's 1981 live album "Exit...Stage Left" which would precede it.  Claudio then thought it would be a good idea to get musicians from all over the world to play on it.

And this is the finished article with myself (Willie from Scotland) on bass guitar, Claudio from Argentina on electric and acoustic guitars, Amy from Canada on classical guitar, Vera from Canada on keyboards, Theo from Germany on drums and Tim from USA on vocals.

I hope you enjoy!!!!

Ask Frost* / Esoteric gigs - key change?
November 22, 2009, 11:05:38 PM
I noticed on watching the Esoteric videos on youtube that the songs are a semi-tone lower than the studio versions of the Frost* songs.

I take it you pressed your transpose -1 key there Jem.  I have perfect pitch you know.

Any reason why?

Not criticising it by the way, just my curiosity getting the better of me here. ;)

Hi folks,

Some of you may or may not know that I play bass guitar in a rock covers band in Fife, Scotland called "Joe's Band".

The band itself has been in existence for nearly 20 years but I personally have only been with the band nearly 6 years.

We are a very busy band, playing gigs most weekends of the year to packed (and sometimes not so packed) pubs, function halls, garden parties etc.

I am very proud to be in the band as we have a great reputation on our home turf and it is nice when I'm shopping in Asda or Tesco and people recognise me and come up for a chat. ;)

Nearly 3 years ago, on Saturday 9th September 2006, Joe's Band played a one-off gig at the famous Limelight Club in Crewe, Cheshire as part of the Rush convention of 2006 called "Rush EuCon" (Rush European Convention).  We played in support of the Rush tribute band called "Counterparts" who did a fantastic job playing those Rush choons.  Our very own Frost* frontman, Declan Burke, along with his "The Spirit Of Rush" bandmates Steve Kightley and Tim Churchman were originally cordially invited to be the Rush tribute band for the day but sadly it was not to be as a few months earlier, the band went their separate ways.  Dec then concentrated fully on Darwin's Radio and as you all know....... FROST* of course.

Anyhoo, 2 of my Rush buddies (called BaldiePete and Gebs) recorded Joe's Band's whole set which lasted 90 mins with 2 cameras set up at either side of the Limelight stage.  Two of the 19 songs we performed were added to youtube shortly after the Limelight gig and have both received over 3000 hits each.  Quite an achievement I would say.

Now, after such a long time coming, I have now converted the DVD files onto my PC and split the tracks so that the remaining 17 songs can also be viewed on youtube.

To view the videos, please go to youtube and put in the search banner......

Most of the songs we played are classic rock floor-fillers.  We cover such great bands as Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, The Who, AC/DC and Van Halen.  I really hope that you guys and gals can spare a moment to watch some of the videos (if not all) and please feel free to rate the videos and/or leave a comment, however short.  I would be ever so grateful and would be much appreciated.

Enjoy watching "JOE'S BAND"!!!

Ask Frost* / Wives/girlfriends
August 19, 2009, 12:31:46 AM
Here's a poser for all you Frost* guys and all the muso frosties out there..................

If you play an instrument in a band, does your wife/girlfriend come along to gigs and/or listen to the music that you play?

Being a bassist, I love playing in the rock covers band that I'm in.  We play a lot of crowd-pleaser stuff from bands/artists such as Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Rainbow, Van Halen, Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams to name but a few.  As they are well known songs my wife loves to listen to the band and get up and dance (sometimes).

However, the bands that I listen to at home/in the car are classic rock/prog rock bands like Frost* (of course), Rush, Porcupine Tree, Yes and The Who.

And guess what, my wife hates it all!!!  She would prefer to listen to mainstream chart topping acts and <<SHUDDER>> boy bands!!!

If she is in the car and I stick on one of my favourite bands' CDs I get the usual, "Get that shit off and put the radio on!"

I just wonder if all muso widows, I mean, wives are the same as my beloved or do some actually have the same taste in music as your good selves?

I would really like to hear the thoughts of the Frost* members on this one (Jem, Dec, JM, JJ) and if you have any amusing stories about your WAGs' taste in music then please do share.

Thank you muchly.

..........mp3 versions of Snowman 2008 and Hyperventilate 2008 that are online on youtube?

I love these versions of the songs and it would be great if I could put them on my iPod right beside Milliontown and EIMA.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.
