Friends Of Frost* / Lawny's doodlings!!
March 03, 2011, 10:01:14 PM
Not actually been brave enough to post anything up here as yet, but what the hell, here's some of what I get up to with my little set-up when I'm not lawnmowing the cosmos!!

The WAV version sounds better, the MP3  has introduced a bit more compression than I like.

Other Bands / ARGENT

Are commencing a short reunion tour of the UK this weekend, their first together in around 37 years (I think thats what they said at High Voltage festy).
I've been a fan since the early 70's although never got to see them live in their heyday, I was there for the HV set in July and will be at The Brook on Sunday for their Southampton leg of the tour, really looking forward to a full and properly rehearsed set from the guys (they were a little under-rehearsed at HV). It'll be so good to hear Russ & Rod together again.

Anyone else going to these gigs?

Other Bands / Todd Rundgren - A Wizard, A True Star - Live
September 14, 2009, 10:08:07 AM
The live shows for this classic album have started in the US and despite a couple of technical gremlins the reviews for the shows sound pretty awesome, one of them being recorded for DVD.
Todd is recreating the whole album live on stage using some of the props, costumes and instruments from the original tour.

There's a half decent support band as well.... somebody called Utopia?!!   8-)  :D

I've got my tickets for the Hammersmith show in February... can't wait!!

Todd Rundgren will perform his 1973 album "A Wizard, A True Star" in its entirety live for the first time in the U.K.

The concert will take place at London's HMV Hammersmith Apollo on Feb. 6, 2010 and will be Rundgren's only U.K. performance of the album set, which is widely hailed by fans and critics as a psychedelic progressive rock classic. The first half of the live show will see Rundgren perform a selection of his most popular material while the second half will consist entirely of "A Wizard, A True Star."

"A Wizard, A True Star" was first released in 1973 as the follow-up to Rundgren's breakthrough 1972 album "Something/Anything."

Got our tickets this morning, wow! This should be special!   8-)

Other Bands / Threshold - The Peel & Mr Kyps
May 11, 2009, 07:52:49 PM
Following on from their Rotherham Rocks appearance which according to Karl was a bit disapointing (crowd wise) Threshold played The Peel. First up was drummer Johanne James 'other' band the hard n 'eavy Kyrbgriner who I really enjoyed. Then have played one set singing and playing drums Johanne moved his kit back to play another set with Threshold.
They started of with 'Slipstream' and never looked back they were on fine form, Damien periodically jumping into the crowd to make make sure everyone was singing and clapping along! Which by and large they did, lots of noise at the end ensured an encore of 'Falling Away' and 'This is Your Life', excellent!
Nice to see a certain JM in the audience (I was surprised he remembered me from my Chrimbo Frosty singing, which was nice!) and also good to catch up with johninblack again  ;)
We tootled down to Poole the next day for the Mr Kyps gig, which although not a sellout was still a great show, this time with Galahad in support.
We got right down the front for this one and sang ourselves hoarse!

What a great band, nice to see Pete Morton now looking very comfortable on second guitar and I have to say although I really like Mac on the records, Damien is a damn fine frontman vocally and performance wise... respect due  ;)

Any Danoraks on this forum? I'm a huge fan... I see they've added some European dates to their Left Bank Holiday 2009 tour including three UK dates... I've booked tickets for Hammersmith Appolo.
Saw them on their 2007 dates and they had a absolutely cracking band with them.

I know there was a Threshold thread on the old forum and I haven't found one on here so......

I love these guys, I have the complete back catalogue plus a few of the fan CD's.

Personally I'm a big fan of the Mac era albums, I think they are five very consistant, excellent slabs of progressive metal.
I think it's a great shame Mac left.

It'll be interesting to see what the next offering will be like.

Just picked up a secondhand copy of 'Tense Moments' which has the awesome song 'Dead' on it.
Although the one time I saw the live they came out and said "we won't be playing 'Dead' tonight... doh!
They were a great band though, shame they're not around anymore.

I used to play 'Tourniquet' in one of my covers band, used to love it.

Anyone else remember / like these guys?

Frost* / EIMA gets good review in Classic Rock Magazine
December 27, 2008, 11:28:59 AM
The latest edition of Classic Rock Mag has just plopped through my letterbox and I was pleased to see an 8/10 review for EIMA which ain't bad (I know we'd give it 10/10  ;) ).
Comparisons to Muse, P.Tree, Spocks Beard, Dream Theatre so the lads are in good company!

The review finishs with - "EIMA confirms that Frost* are one of the most exciting bands soldiering on beneath prog's proud flag right now"

In the words of the late great Fluff Freeman... 'not 'alf'!

Well I started the same thread on the old board, so figured I do it all over again here.

Discuss the Toddmeister here!

Anybody going to The Forum gig in London on 23rd Nov? I shall be there, really looking forward to it too. The new album (Arena) is pretty much ingrained now so apart from those two covers he's playing on this tour, I should be pretty familiar with the set.
